These last 2 videos have been among my favourite Japan videos ever. So chilled, and really enjoyable to just join you on a walk, experience Japan through your eyes. Definitely agree with how surprisingly hard it is to find Fuji, and that was even before they stopped production. And even if overdone, I liked very much your geometric shots at the beginning.

@@NorbiWhitney thanks so much for the kind words Norbi, I appreciate it and am glad to hear you like them - especially since I know you have been to Japan several times and I made really incredible videos about your trips yourself. I was hoping to maybe still find some Natura 1600 somewhere but I realized quickly this was wishful thinking haha

@@KarinMajoka Very kind of you to say too. Yeah I just struck gold by going to an exhibition Fukukawa Takashi was holding, and he was getting rid of some old colour stock for like €3/roll, including 3 rolls of Natura. That's never happening again.

Discovered your channel recently from your Osaka posts and enjoying the chill vibes 😬 No worries for getting lost in Osaka, it’s taken me a year or so living here to finally feel like I know my way around all the underground walkways, only to end up at an exit completely different to what I thought 😅

Luckily, I am not a big slide film fan, otherwise I might have went crazy here as well. I brought a lot of film from home so the urge to buy a lot was not as strong (which left more budget for Ramen haha).

I agree that it is easy to get lost in Japan. The cities are build in 3D where you change levels so frequently that it can be disorienting. Maps do not help. Experienced going around the Shibuya station just to get across the street multiple times.
@KarinMajoka4 ай бұрын
Oh yes, I totally agree! It’s kind of fun getting lost though and discovering new things - but when you are in a hurry and need to go somewhere fast, it’s a nightmare. I cannot even remember how many times I got lost inside shinjuku station searching for the right exit haha

Thank you for this video, it was very atmospheric. I have an upcoming trip to Japan in 6 weeks, and I'm still struggling to decide whether to take my beloved Leica M6 with me on this trip and deal with the possible xray scans of film at the airport or having to bring a tripod for some night photography or instead just bringing my Leica M11 without having to worry about all that but missing the joy and feel of shooting film and the unique color renditions of film. There is also an element of romanticising having physical negatives in your hand, that I've crafted myself, as opposed to digital. Will certainly visit a few vintage camera stores in Japan and try the amazing food! Also thanks for recommending the teamlab botanical garden in Osaka. I did not know of this one and now it's definitely on my list of places to visit.
@KarinMajoka4 ай бұрын
Is there a possibility to bring both, the M6 and M11? So you can decide on a daily basis which one is better suited for that particular situation of the day. At least that’s what I did and I found it to give me more flexibility. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on film, so this was a given to me - but going through the whole airport thing was stressful. It really depends on luck of the allow hand checking or not. In any way: have a good trip and hopefully you can make a decision about the gear :)
