Before 1918, Transylvania was part of the Kingdom of Hungary for more than 900 years. In World War I, the Saxons of Transylvania fought against Romania in the Austro-Hungarian Imperial and Royal Army. Originally Saxons were settled in Transylvania by King Géza II of Hungary in 1143. King Andrew I of Hungary granted privileges to the Saxons of Transylvania in the 1224 Andreanum Royal Decree. The German population flourished in Hungary for 800 years. After the break-up of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Romania occupied Transylvania militarily in 1918. Hungary officially handed over Transylvania to Romania in the 1920 Treaty of Trianon. The Saxons in Transylvania did very badly with Romania, as Romanian nationalism has now expelled 95% of the Saxons from the country.
@laszlojuhasz74582 жыл бұрын
The Saxons of Transylvania flourished under Hungarian rule and were destroyed during Romanian rule. Between 1944 and 1948, 91,000 Saxons fled Romania or died in Romanian forced labor camps. Between 1950 and 1982, another 130,000 Saxons fled Romania to escape Romanian nationalist repression. Between 1991 and 1992, 75,000 Saxons left Romania. Today, the number of Saxons in Romania is less than 10,000. Until 1918, when Transylvania belonged to Hungary, 240,000 Saxons lived there.

Romania is the only country in Eastern Europe which didn't forcefully expel their Germans after WW2. The guy who posted the comment you replied to is a Hungarian nationalist.
@majstter7420 Жыл бұрын
@@laszlojuhasz7458Much more Germans lived also in Hungary before 1920 and even before 1945. Hungarian government also let them expell after the WW2 and many others left the country during the communist rule. In 1910, some 8-9% of the population of Hungary were ethnic Germans, now it's hardly around 1%. So you did just the same, and the same as Poland, Czechoslovakia and some other countries.

The only ones who truly understand the lyrics and the meaning is an Romanian. You see.. you have to sing it from all your heart, like a flame is burning your heart. Nevertheless after national anthem, this army "anthem" is one of my favorite especially when soldiers are singing it. Or children. Sounds good in German tho 😊
