Thank you for your effort in makig this video. My one concern with Italy is that I might buy a home and then the neighborhood simply doesn't want foreigners in the area. How can I overcome this?
@Karl__Pierre5 ай бұрын
I imagine this can happen anywhere any time. The town i have properties I haven't had this issue. The general rule is learn the customs, be respectful, add value, and you'll greatly reduce the odds of being viewed as the horrible outsider.

Karl, a notary in Italy is a public official of some sorts. Not a lawyer. It’s always best to go through a real estate agent seeing as they have relationships with notary’s and also help in the buying process . Any buyers will need to obtain a codice fiscale(Italian tax ID number) important to mention for next video.. seeing as it pertains to taxes, utilities and banking. They are free of charge. Get at your local Italian consulate in country you live. Also real estate agent fees are cheaper than lawyers. During closing, any foreign buyer must have three translators present at closing and pay a stamp tax. Karl if you need more info on this hit me up..

Hi there, yes it's always great to use the knowledge of a real estate agent. Also, I did mention the codice fiscale in this video at about the 5:32 mark. Thanks for watching.

Very interesting video...I watched one of your videos years ago and I just found you again today. Cool. Nice to see your house in the Airbnb listing, pretty charming. Anyway, I am from Brazil (noticed you have some content about Brazil since the last time I watched you - will definitely check) and live in Canada (have lived in Porto Rico as well), so I like the idea of living internationally. Our daughter is 10 now, but we know when she is gown up and we are empty-nested, we will probably want a small place somewhere charming, warm and by the ocean...Portugal, Italy? I will stay tuned to keep learning. Ciao!

Karl, I've been considering a place in Sicily for a couple of years. This year is the one. I'm ready, and have an agent and a town in mind. I have followed and learned from your videos for at least a year now, perhaps two, and want to thank you for information, research, and expertise. You've helped a lot. Tu sei molto simpatico, anche molto bravo. Grazie!

How do property taxes work in italy
@Karl__Pierre4 ай бұрын
In Italy, property taxes can vary depending on the type of property and its location. The main property tax is called IMU (Imposta Municipale Unica), which is applied to second homes and luxury properties. It's a good idea to consult with a local tax advisor to understand the specifics for your property and location.
