I saw Karla Bonoff at a small venue in Richmond, VA in April 2022 with my boyfriend and friends who live in Richmond. She has an angelic voice. Nina Gerber's guitar arrangement is spot on. 🎸

I can’t think of anything more beautiful than the simplicity of a great song, a single guitar played masterfully and an exquisitely beautiful voice. This is that perfect combination

My Lord, that was lovely. These ladies have it all and we are so fortunate to be able to listen and watch as they perform. And Nina's guitar arrangement of that piece deserves an encore, perfectly performed.

Stunning, stunning playing by Nina Gerber. I’m rarely at a loss for words (ask any of my friends), but stunning just about hits it. Nina, you are such an incredible musician. It brings me such joy to listen to you and Karla together!!!

Does it get any better than Karla Bonoff's vocals, Nina Gerber's acoustic guitar, performing one of Jackson Browne's best songs? Really a world class rendition!

Saw Jackson in concert in the early '70s, and the lead-in act was… Karla Bonoff. Nostalgic to see her doing his work after all these years. One of Jackson's best songs, so beautifully covered here.

This early Jackson Browne tune is a perfect vehicle for Karla's voice, nails it and the tasteful guitar from Nina, great on the tribute compilation but this recording, Karla just owns this take, still amazed at her voice as she gets older, it continues to shine a light in these dark days, thanks to you both for sharing your talents!

A wonderful, most unexpected treat to be savoured this Friday afternoon in Montreal. Karla’s Five-Minute Concert Tour was too good to end after five songs. I floated the idea of an encore or two, or more, as did others. This addition to the tour is Something Fine indeed :) As long as you keep singing, Karla, and as long as Nina is by your side, I’ll be here to listen and enjoy. As will many of us.

Dave Stubbs Hi David, you seem to know what goes on in here, so I have a question. I completely missed this 5 minute concert, how was anyone notified . I am actually one of the people who suggested more five minute concerts. Thanks. Mary

@@marymuller1062 Yes, Mary, indeed you were among those who requested that Karla extend her tour! Have you signed up for Karla's email notifications? If you subscribe to her KZbin channel, you'll see "Subscribed" to the right of her name. Click on the bell and set it to All. Any time a new video is uploaded to her site, you'll get a notification. Hope that helps, take care.

Dave Stubbs Thanks Dave, done. Somehow I thought I had done that. I have been listening to some Karen Carpenter during quarantine . May I ask if you have an opinion? While Karla’s music can easily bring me to tears for many reasons, listening to Karen can have the same effect....because she is gone.😢 There will never be another voice like Karen’s. Her story, her struggle with anorexia just makes me so sad. Such a beautiful soul....a beautiful voice, really gifted. I wonder if she ever realized how much the world loved her.
@stubbsd4 жыл бұрын
Mary Muller Karen had an incredible gift, Mary. I love the Carpenters especially on vinyl. The richness and subtlety and nuance of Karen’s voice is so much better on that medium than compressed by digital transfer. There are many female artists who qualify as favourites for me - Diana Krall, Joan Osborne, Jennifer Warnes, Katie Melua and Storm Large among them; others, too. But Karla is atop the list to be sure. My path on business travel brought me close to her several times in recent years but I just missed her shows. It’s now a mission to see Karla live.

Dave Stubbs I was fortunate enough to meet her after a concert here in the Boston area. Standing in front of Karla Bonoff, after just adoring her for 40 years, was absolute magic. I could barely find words to express myself. When she looks at you with those beautiful brown eyes you feel as though she is seeing into your soul. After 40 years, not only does she sound perfect, but she is really more stunning than ever. Killer smile, which I wish she would share a bit more. This virus has pushed her concert at TCAN in Natick, MA (to which I have tickets) back twice now. Her July 25th appearance has been rescheduled to May of 2021 😩. It is killing me that various concerts have been rescheduled....but I want everyone to stay safe and well. My other favorite artists are Nanci Griffith, Suzy Bogguss and Kathy Mattea. Nice chatting with you. Stay well. Happy trails!

in 1975 I was on Kauai. I was 21 and my friend heard this by JB. He was so taken he talked me n my frnd into going to Morocco . He had just come into some money. We wld sit after a surf and plan out trip. WE all got passports and the time came. By now it was 1976 and I was to meet them in LA and go from there but...I lost my passport and they went w/o me. I was bummed till I got a call from Phil's Dad That they got busted w something fine in Luxembourg. My one frnd ran n actually got away but Phil...not so lucky. He spent the better part of his 20's in prison in France. Funny how things work out. I went back to Hanalei and tried to forget but every time a bowl of hash was passed around..which was often back then n there. I wld think of him.

What in the world? "Thin" vocals? Really? Compared to what, the guttersl groanings of grunge? My god, Karla's voice is as crystal clear as it was at open-mike night at the Troubador when she was 17.
