I know it sounds silly, but at least I know what HTV is now. Yesterday I figured out what an svg is lol. I just got my air 2 and so excited to use it. But I’ve had it for a couple days but didn’t even take it out of the box bc I’m so scared of it lol. But It’s out the box now and once I figure out the design space. Imma start. Thank you. I was going around trash day and found a tub full of vinyls. All sorts. The person must have had a business of some sort. But when I brought them home there were so many I've never seen before. I didn't know which ones I could use on shirts and others on products. This video helped me a lot. Thank you. Still going through the pieces. So much brand new rolls not even used. I even found the girls company name. I have reached out to her but no response. I feel bad this definitely more than $600.00 worth of vinyls.

This was helpful but if you’ve taken it out of the package how can you tell the difference between permanent and removable. Some of the older vinyl didn’t have permanent written on the lining.

That is almost impossible to tell just by appearance. I learned that the hard way so now I stick a piece of painters tape on mine and label it!

If you want to make a design for a tshirt- you’ll need heat transfer vinyl/ iron- on. Permanent Vinyl is just like a sticker and can peeled right off fabric.

I have some patterned vinyl.. it does NOT have a liner, but it did come with a separate piece of clear. I don't know what that is.

Is it sticky to the touch? If not, it is heat transfer vinyl. You cut this without mirroring your image. Weed it, and then use the clear sheet as a carrier sheet to place on your shirt or project.

@@KarleyHall it is not sticky and does not appear to have a backing. it's rather thin. it's printed. I thought I'd test it under an iron and that was a mistake. it immediately melted. so then I took a piece of that clear sheet that came with each sheet and placed that over the printed vinyl and again applied my iron. melted again. not sure if my iron was too hot or if I left it on too long since I really had no idea how to do it. I didn't want to use my heat press or cricut easy press for fear I'd melt something on those. so your suggestion is to take a piece of it - cut it out or just cut a piece - put the clear sheet over it (with a protective silicone or butcher paper?) and see if it sticks. how hot and for how long? put the printed side UP?

Masking tape! A thick roll of masking tape will work- just make sure to destick it a little!

I have a question. If you’re doing lettering for a shirt for instance would you need to still mirror the image? How would you transfer that to the shirt with multiple pieces wouldn’t you need to use the clear transfer tape and do it the opposite way; right side up?

Heat transfer goes shiney side down and you mirror. Adhesive like for signs or window stickers is paper down and not mirrored.

You could use it temporarily. Permanent adhesive vinyl is like a big sticker. So you wouldn’t want to apply it and run it through the wash- similar to a regular sticker!

No you cannot. It will melt. You need heat transfer vinyl :)

If it has white, it could be either! If you can peel back a corner and feel stickiness, then it’s adhesive vinyl. If you can’t feel any stick on the colored side, then it’s heat transfer vinyl.
