I have this kit and would love to get some info from you, so far it is frustrating me, the 6 channel amp does not correlate from channeln1 through to 6 in Simhub, I can adjust for that without too much drama but it's not ideal, the big issue however is that it does not matter which corner operates, it is felt throughout the entire rig and not discernible per corner, the mechanical transmission of vibration just shake the entire rig, a very muddy response, any suggestions on how you got it to be specific per corner?

I imagine the isolation feet allow the rig to experience more vibration movements since it’s effectively floating on the springs.
@rkwjunior22984 ай бұрын
I thought it might absorb the vibrations taking away from the vibrations going into the frame. ?
@PW-qy8mfАй бұрын
@@rkwjunior2298It's exactly the opposite, as the transducers are connected rigidly with the rig frame via the brackets. The only connection to the floor then is via the springs, which represents by far the best isolation you can get (at least at this or a similar price point). By using springs as connection elements, you assure that most of the vibration forces HAVE to transfer into the rig itself, as they can barely travel through a loose dampening element like a spring.

Speaking to those DIY guys I just did a 4 bst-1 kit and in the end of it all your only saving about 100$ and I don't have the 4 isolators and brackets so your not saving much if any. I got lucky I paid 70$ cnd for ea bst-1 but they sell over 130$ the nubsound amps are 65$ each then you have 20$ of wires and the tnuts and bolts another 20 to 30 bucks. I didn't need a sound card as it's in the amps but it's about the same once all shipped. You can save if you get cheap transducers but your not doing the same setup.

Having them on each corner makes PERFECT SENSE because of how resonance works. You kind of want the rumbling of the left wheel's transducer to travel through the cockpit before it hits your ass, because it will also be rumbling your feet on the pedal plate on the left side, it will also let the cockpit influence the signal on the way to your ass so that what you feel in the seat is slightly different from what you feel in your feet, exactly like if it was a real car. As an example, if you smack a hammer in the front left corner of your cockpit, that's going to feel different in your feet, butt and hands than if you slapped the front left side of your seat with a hammer... Completely different sensation. If you want the whole pit to feel alive, using four in the corners makes perfect sense. Your rowdy commenter just likes his booty jiggled is what I'm getting from this. :D

The argument against it was that hard mounting transducers to a non-flexible structure such as 80/20 mutes them by 80%. Adding these isolators fixes that problem, but it’s not an option for larger heavier rigs or motion platforms

Agreed, I want to see the "wohhh, this is really immersive, just felt that wheel break traction..." type of feedback in the video, but the trouble is that he is now spoilt by full motion, so I guess it's hard to get that enthusiastic about some rumbles! This is one downside to becoming successful on KZbin, starts out in the same sort of position as us norms, reviews kit we can afford etc, but as time goes on moves up to the stuff that only 1% of people can afford. C'est la vie, channel is still great, but it'll never be as grounded as it once was.

I’ve had it for a few months now. I absolutely love it! Once tuned in with Sim Hub (this can take some tinkering to get the feel right) it adds massive amounts of immersion. It's IMO quite cheap for the stuff you get. You can get better/more shakers and amps for the money, but difficult with the isolators that are mandatory to keep the neighbours away (had twice the police at my doorstep because of shaker-emission despite lots of rubber-stuff installed...). I'm probably one of the few sim-racers who knows where and what to buy for compression springs and how to attach them to aluminium profiles for small price because I had quite some fails with my passive suspension in the past and paid quite a price for the try & error. Even if you have the right springs, attaching it to aluminium profiles needs some custom-printed parts to make them work properly.

@@easybreeze1 Compression springs like this should not be more than 5 bucks each, but kind of needs a 3D-printer to fix them properly to the rig. The most simple way is just 'designing' round cups with a hole to fix it to the profiles and to squeeze them in. They doesn't need side-support like those isolators. I'm using a six springs with a spring-rate of 55 N/mm, which is quite stiff, more like F1 suspension, so I guess 35 to 50 N/mm is a better sweetspot. 50 N/mm basically means, the spring compresses 1 mm per 5 kg load. I'm using D-355 from Federnshop and probably try the softer D-355A springs soon, which are also a bit longer. If they are too soft, I print a bumpstop out of TPU, which might also come handy to equalize the more heavy rear of the rig.

@noname-gp6hk Жыл бұрын
That's a good point. I've played with a function generator plugged into a microphone interface and found that I can't really hear below 30hz or above 16khz. I wonder what kind of low pass filter these springs form. I have this kit and am too heavy for the springs, at 290lbs the grey springs are completely flat under me. I'm getting rid of the springs today and am going to try with the shakers mounted directly to the frame. Will find out how it feels before & after. Even though the rear springs were completely sacked, the fronts were still sprung. I'll get a feeling for if the higher frequencies feel any different without the springs.

Though my rig (Trak Racer TR120) has the built in Quad Monitors, I always worry that the built in stand with all 4 monitors (3 27 inch, and 1 24 inch) would cause an over weight issue with the isolators (and me being 86 kg). It's also why I haven't messed with motion. But if they do work in my set up, I'd need a jacket or something to lift my rig lol

Hi Karl, great review as always. One thing, as I was searching for some new shakers, my cheap ones are basiclly done, I noticed that lots of them come with a warning, might cause cancer. So seems to me, the closer they are to the body, the more risk there is. It might be a terrible idea to mount them directly under the seat, or use one of those that you sit on it. Just a word of caution for all and something to consider.
@noname-gp6hk Жыл бұрын
M8 thanks to legislation in California literally every substance known to man is required to have a label on it warning of cancer risk. If you want a fun game, next time you find yourself in a store, see how many items you can find which DONT have a prop 65 warning on it. These things have been painted, and paint is a known carcinogen. They have rubber, which is also a known carcinogen. There are also oils involved, which are also known carcinogens. There are also electronics inside the product, which are full of carcinogens. The phone you're probably holding in your hand is nearly entirely made of carcinogenic compounds. Those labels are humorously meaningless.
@revs1567 Жыл бұрын
@@noname-gp6hk I disagree that the labels are meaningless, otherwise they would not be there. It's just a precaution so if you get cancer, they cant be sued. Fact is, using electromagnets close to the body is new and the long term effects are unknown. I will use shakers but not close to the body.

Thanks Karl! Getting ready for this...been watching reviews for this. Few questions...help with #1. 1. @24:14 I see you have casters behind, what exact kind are they? I still don't have the slip-angle set and currently do have casters to roll my rig easily every now and then, as front part of my rig is under a table. I've been searching how I can use casters with this slip-angle set for ease of moving the rig. I saw some lift casters but mostly use screws, while I prefer being able to mount as well on the 8020 extrusion. Any suggestions of casters that would work well with slip-angle? 2. From your testing, you think the 100W amp is fine?

Hey Karl, I have 2 buttkickers gamer 2 and the SRS UShake 6 seat cover. Will this play friendly and work together with them? As I'd like to move the two buttkickers to other parts of my rig. OR would I even need this if I already have the SRS UShake6? Thank you!

This would be a replacement for the U-Shake IMO, two different methods of getting tactile feedback.

I had a 4 transducer setup but I could never get the levels balanced and that really bothered my OCD. And also, I don't believe the frequency of vibration is dynamically set by reading in-game telemetry (you set frequency per effect) except for things like engine vibration. In some instances using the audio is better for more dynamics assuming you can isolate those sound channels (e.g. rumble strips). Not to mention the transducers were sooo loud. I found a 4-actuator motion setup was sooo much more satisfying just for simple vibrations. It would be interesting if a company made a low-cost low-travel actuator system that wasn't used for full-on motion but just for more robust vibrations

@CaptainDomestic Жыл бұрын
I think that would be overkill. These are best at curbs, engine vibration, and shifts which motion can do well. They don't work well for abs, tc, so I imagine pedal-mounted transducers would help a motion rig but these would not.

People keep saying you can build this yourself cheaper?? Apparently, they have not done the proper research. Not only are those spring isolators expensive . You have find the ones with proper compression rate . Also, those mounting bracket are patent pending . I personally can't find those brackets anywhere. if someone knows. please let me know.

I'd be amazed if this got through customs without you being charged VAT, Duty and the shippers 'clearance fee'. Small items, and those under £150 might, but not bulky or expensive items. The only way is if the seller prepays those items which this seller obviously doesn't as there is a single worldwide dollar price.

Could you test the four shakers attached directly to the your motion actuators. I mean the actuators acting as the springs and then you could choose if you want to run motion, vibration or both together. And the second question is if the rekon/dayton/aura/SA... shakers can be replaced by a buttkicker pro shaker, as it has the wire conection compatible
@nunoalexandre4273 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the detailed video Karl. This is definitely a very interesting kit! I already have 2 of the same transducers (beneath the pedals and seat) that I love, do you think this would be a good addition to the sim experience (other than isolation)? Also, my rig has 4 wheels as I need to slide in the rig under the monitors stand, and I saw you have some retractile wheels, right? Any information on that would be much appreciated. Thanks so much Karl!!!
@raymondnist8770 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review! If I already have 4 shakers (each) corner would the isolators add any benefit? I am on a concrete slab so no worries about vibrating the floor. Do the isolators help with being able to tell if the vibration is coming from the front/rear or sides?
@Hardcaslte Жыл бұрын
For me I just don't feel anything setting up the bass shakers to the frame. I've tried Vesa mounts hanging them off the frame which supposedly makes the vibration stronger, etc. But I get the best feedback having one under the pedals and one under the seat. Purely because in my TR120 (maybe it's the TR120 frame design?) I lose like 50% of the feedback of the vibrations mounting to the four corners. Maybe if they had like 100 watt shakers available it might be strong enough, don't know. I do wish it was stronger to justify running 4 or 6 shakers, but honestly the one under my seat and under the pedals would just purely over power the four corner shakers.
@sneakygloworm Жыл бұрын
That's exactly how Mine's set but I placed the transducer on the back of the seat rather than under it. Only issue I get is vibration noise at pedals which is a bit distracting at higher frequency. But because Aluminium is such a dead metal, it's not easy to set transducers in correct positions without losing feedback. Seat and pedals seems to work best in this solution.

wattage is wattage.. there are transistors to boost an input signal. but rule of thumb is RMS vs input will always be less than the power coming in for any sort of reasonable listening. Lower quality amps will be closer to the input power. if you dont care about the clarity "which you wouldnt with transducers" then a poor quality amp is probably fine. but a 96w peak power in amp should never be expected to power 4x 50w speakers. If it Can do it it would sound like trash. even 4x 25w speakers would soind like trash.. its why we have amp classes.. A.. B.. H and so on.. it gives you a better idea of what its actually gonna sound like at its rated PMPO / RMS without having to look at the input power and so on.
@noname-gp6hk Жыл бұрын
I don't think this amp is strong enough for this setup. I have this kit and it's constantly tripping some kind of protection circuit internally any time there is a strong signal going into it, even with the simhub volume set down to like 50%. Amp trips, have to flip the switch off and on again to reset it. Definitely seems under sized for this application.
@shambleslongplay3566 Жыл бұрын
@@noname-gp6hk if it was an audio amp.. id say its 25% ish of the power you want as a A class amp.. if it was H then it would be more efficient and probably could manage 47% of the output But H is a class technics devised and own. so the best you could do is G. or B and then your looking at about 30%~ I dont know about the impedance of the system and evetything else. BUT from the numbers given, i wouldnt expect to run that amp at more than 40% power and not suffer clipping or protection cut outs.

You cant DIY this kit for half the money. To be totally honest, this with current prices is a steal. I've a DIY one under my seat currently and want to add 4 like this. Its £90 for the amp alone without the transducers and everything else and even then, you lose what is arguably the biggest appeal of this kit, and that's the AV mounts and brackets so you can actually use them without having to worry about neighbours/ wife etc. I've also totted up all the parts or equivalent of this kit (again without the mounts and brackets) comes to £397.... Again, this kit is a bargain.
