Can you identify it? Also, changing the log file would also change the file metadata, which would be obvious. Unless you know how to change the metadata back to what it should have been (I don't personally know how to do this). I do think the Zelda audio has a discrepancy, but it's slight. Both examples have an audio cut at the exact time the warp happens, so the 'gap' in audio is not an indication of splicing. The audio discrepancy has more to do with the pitch of music before and after warp.

The main thing I learned about spotting fake runs is that without extreme knowledge of the game in question, there's almost no way of telling which run is legit and which run isn't. Unless there are big continuity errors, such as audio slicing or weird menuing

I spotted the Minecraft one due to the player behavior. The decisions in the first clip are instant, like they know exactly where things are. Perhaps the second clip was more telling though. The first two buildings are randomly generated, in the second clip, that building is always identical. The guy was slower in the building that's always the same than he was in these random buildings where there could be a bed or a chest in any. He knew to run in to the first one and which side to look at to get the bed, and then knew not to go into the building and just look at the chest from a sharp angle to pick up the items - and he knew there wasn't a bed in there to take so he didn't go in.

Do you think it's at all possible for the second setup to have worked? We don't have an input viewer to examine but in all my learning and testing ganondoor I found my inconsistencies in opening the door and sometimes letting go of Z early would cause more frames to pass on the warp timer, usually overshooting 101, but he ended up early, hence the deku tree room, so is it *theoretically* possible to do that setup but also fudge the Z-target release and get lucky?

Releasing target only does something in setups where you're angled when opening the door though, like the new one we do. Minecraft Example 1 was fairly suspect just from the way it was played. There seemed to be some muscle memory involved. Example 2 started walking in the "wrong" direction and had brief pauses of surprise and calculation that are not easy to fake.

These are always interesting videos. I actually had a slightly different reasoning for suspecting clip 2 for the Zelda comparison. In clip 2, the music has a sharp cut when Link transitions between the two rooms whereas the music smoothly fades out then changes for the next room in clip 1. To me, that seemed to be where the splice took place. So, I was surprised to get it right even if in a slightly different way. But I learned something new from your reasoning too. ☺️

For the OoT one: I didn't even notice that the frame Link is on would matter, I thought the 1st OoT example was fake cuz Link had 1 extra Deku nut, whereas in the 2nd example he didn't. I for sure thought the number of Deku nuts was the key to finding it out, but no, of course: "check the frames, always check the frames..." For the Minecraft one: I actually got that one! Yay!!! Anyway, I knew there was something wrong with the loading screen, because that's not how loading a New World looks like (and cuz I've played Minecraft before and never played OoT) I never could've explained that it was cuz of spliced footage, but still, I actually noticed a fake speedrun! I legitimately feel so proud of myself!!!

The thing that tipped me off with the Minecraft clips is that the 1st one just kinda went straight into the houses/spawned right by them while the 2nd one looked around to find the houses. The Minecraft one is easier to guess because you know one of them is fake ahead of time. Example 1 is closer to items from the start than example 2, so you'd think that was fake. If there's a part 3, the one with a less convenient start should be the fake, just to throw people off.

i am aware of the fact that i can't spot fake runs (unless painfully obvious), yet i still watch these videos, since i always get to learn something new about the inner workings of speedrun moderation teams. Gotta be honest btw, with each video like this it feels more and more like their work is incredibly though to make sure that fake runs don't get passed as legitimate. Especially for minecraft, those are some crazy good proof standards they've got these days
