*_OH! The mountains are calling!"_* This is the reason I segued my career in grad school towards including travel. In the end I ended up in tourism marketing and travel consulting. Westerners, especially the US, have no concept of what Asia is like and I absolutely love your channel and have set a link to your channel to so many friends because you open their eyes to India and now Pakistan in a way that they had no clue. Both are vast countries with different cultural and cuisine takes. During the blizzards this past winter in the passes at the base of the Himalayas people would comment that they had no clue that Northern India even got snow... I grew up in Northern India and I know better! Thank you for bringing awareness even in these little things to what Asia is. And btw, when I started my career I worked in medical conferencing and it was all five-star hotels and an all honesty I hated it. People came back from the conference they got in the elevator they went upstairs and the next morning if I asked him how their day has been they would tell me that they're HBO was out. I refused to travel that way in my personal life. 10 years ago I was a KZbinr and in my vlogs I showed what it's like to immerse yourself in culture. It was at the beginning of the hashtag era and hotel chains like Sheraton and Windham would send proposals to me of all that I could gain free nights yada yada yada if I would just hashtag their hotel. I would write them back that they obviously had never seen my channel! Yes, 4 and 5 Star hotels can be an all-inclusive blight... But especially in an area that doesn't previously have small guest houses the one good thing I can say about these resorts is usually, usually, they have an infrastructure set up to remove and properly discard of their refuse the plumbing waste etc. Unfortunately I have seen resorts go up especially in beach resorts and debris is not taking care of. Four and five star hotels don't need bad publicity and they tend to work towards sustainability.

EDIT I totally forgot to mention the Mumbai terrorist attacks. I had stayed at the Mumbai Taj multiple times before the attack and I cried watching it in the news the same that I cried being blocks away from the towers during the September the 11th attacks on New York city. Mumbai is a bustling crazy city but the people are genuine and wonderful and I cried because I wonder how many workers got trapped inside. The hotel did everything they could not to cover it up but to bring things back to normal and show the terrorist would not win. Everyone reading this, please explore Pakistan and India and any cultural area you have not traveled before. Not only do you receive quite the education but in bringing money to tourism you give the locals another way to make an honest living. Peace!

I guess the risky part is that it's just not so easy to find a place where shit doesn't go to an open ditch behind the building, you don't get sick from eating at a restaurant, and it takes some stomach to get used to garbage being everywhere (for example around 2 minute mark in this video, eggshells and other stuff thrown all around). On top of it the touristic enclaves are super expensive even for average foreigner. For example I couldn't pay 200+ a night just to make sure there's plumbing in a hotel, when you get that for 50-100 in Europe. Stars don't mean much hen hygiene standards are so different. India is on my list but there's too much to go wrong...

Gilgit baltistan, baluchistan, chitral region, pashtun tribal belt were not included in India before partition officially. Gilgit baltistan region was forcefully occupied by Maharaja of Kashmir in 1840's by killing the huge population and took over by britishers in 1860. All these regions are Muslim majority and willingly became the part of pakistan. And Indians think that whole pakistan was indian territory before partition which is wrong.

bro how do you think gilgit baltistan became muslim in the first place it was conquered by other , it was conquered by muslims sikhs and hindus also , thats just history by the time of british india all these areas were considered as british india, if you claim these areas werent part of india then why would they join pakistan ? if they were there on separate place away from india? the whole point was that pakistan was made out of hindustan.

I was given one of these hats by a pashtun guy. It's basically a woolen bucket hat with the sides rolled up. Pashtun people are really GOOD people.. not false nice...really genuine folk. I hope that I can travel there in the future. I'm English. I may tell them I'm a kiwi. Or a pitcairn islander. Or something, !but hopefully all the hot heads will be chilled out by then. They must realise the people have no influence on governments in this world. It's all business and corporations.

@@KarlRock that is true, but then cricket fans became sour towards NZ after the cricket team left Pakistan without any real explanation. We are a crazy cricket nation so there was a bit of bitterness there but then a few months later pak beat NZ in the t20 world cup and then the cricket fans were satisfied with that "payback" hahah...we haven't played NZ again since then but i hope thats laid to rest and we can go back to supporting our countries.
