I will follow your tip.. make sense because with the time it could get it down but the bows are going to help it stay on place.. but try to get a high temp. adhesive.. thanks again for your time, the ghia is a 63 coupe hard top..will keep in touch.

No problem man. I did all the insulation for just under $100. That's pans, firewall, package area, inner quarters, bulk head, doors, kick panels. 5 rolls @ $18/roll.

It is self stick! That's what makes it so cool. Yes, deadlines help me to prioritize my life. Unfortunately, my work schedule has been dictating my available time lately. I'm taking back the next few weekends with nothing but ghia work. I think a lot of items will snap together quickly.

Thanks for posting Greg...I'm going to check into that for the Mustang. I wanted to use Dynamat, but a little too expensive for me. This looks like a great alternative. Your car is looking great!

Looking sweet....Speeking of scratches a customer brought in his prized Ghia back in 82 so I could replace his non working headlight switch. While using a flat blade screw driver to loosen the locking ring it slipped and I carved a 3 inch scratch in his dash. He was not impressed but I did pay for it to be repaired....sigh!

That duct insulation looks like it worked well. And I bet the price was right too!

Yes and yes. Anything can trap moisture. I'm betting that in the garage it won't be a bad situation. It had tar boards everywhere from the factory. They trap moisture for sure, so it can't be too much worse. I'd think a batt type insulation would be much worse.

Keep your fingers crossed. I think it will buff.

Self adhesive. I got a bad roll and had to apply a bit of extra sticky to it.

Thanks man. Sounds like it will really dampen the noise in the car.

I'm running late...I'll have to see if anyone can supply me with some of that insulation...Lots of heat comes thru the floor on the '38...Not too bad in winter 'cos there's no heater..lol..good stuff Greg.

Good thing is... The scratch has lots of company.

Time lapse! I like that sound deadening material Greg. Two questions: is it self adhesive? And, is there any concern of it trapping in moisture?

Whoa! I was the 100th view and did not even got notified by our scrutube friends. HomeDepot here sells that stuff too, they only get about 12 rolls a year though

Thks about the insulation, I heard you could use something but I didn't know what well, you said Lowes and that's where I will be!! Did that duct stuff already have adhesive on the back or did you add some adhesive?

Question! Did that insulation have sticky back or did you use some kind of glue adhesive? What say you? I can see that you perform better under stress with deadlines.... hehehehe

I'm sure you have something similar where you live. No idea who makes it or what it is!!! A lot of guys use a roofing material that looks similar, but it tends to have an asphalt/tar smell.

Mr Greg this is ozzy again.. about the insulation did you put on the middle of the kg. i mean where the shitfer and emergency brake are (on that part) i could not see any insulation on this part.., and what about doors , did you use extra glue on them to help stick togheter I mean stronger than just the glue that is just on the frostyking ins thanks again in advanced and it was an excelent trip..keep going. thumbs up..
@GregsGarage10 жыл бұрын
Ozzy. I had the factory tar board on the center tunnel. I actually scraped it all off years ago, but at the end of the project, I still had a "spare" chassis and I stole the tar board from it to put on the center tunnel. As for the doors, I used the frost king stuff, no extra glue.
@aldocasillas1810 жыл бұрын

Mr. Greg this duct insulation can be use under headliner?? the original insulation ghia is getting in chunks .. Thanks
@GregsGarage10 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. I don't know if the adhesive is strong enough to hold upside down over time. If you use it, I'd suggest using an additional high temperature spray adhesive on both the insulation and the roof. Make sure the surface you are gluing to is very clean.

Greg I told you I would be coming back to all of your videos for guidance...so do you still stand by this stuff or would you recommend anything else for DARKNESS...I am deading the sound...CJ
@GregsGarage9 жыл бұрын
CountrySideClub Yes CJ... I'd use this stuff again in a heart beat. There's other stuff that is probably more dense, but it either stinks like tar or it's REALLY expensive. This stuff doesn't smell, absorbs road noise and it takes a lot of abuse.
