If he does goes all darksteel, then his new Planeswalker Card would read something like: "Tezzeret, Darksteel Walker cannot be dealt damage, or destroyed." Basically, only removing his loyalty counters, or exiling him, would be enough to take him off the battlefield. That's a scary possibility, right there! He basically becomes a blue-black Gideon!

So Im guessing with the info from this chapter, the story in "Rise of the Machines" could point to Tezzeret and Urabrask unleashing havoc vs Norn and her allies. I know it's still early bit can't help speculating.

@@Saurophaganax1931 my current theory is a combination of the sylex, time magic, and halo. The moonsilver key can alter the properties of a plane based on the wish of the people. In Innistrad, it allows the day and night cycles. Halo acts as a phyrexian repellent, as even Urabrask had trouble touching it. Combine these two with the sylex as an amplifier and it may be able to revert a large area to a previous state while repelling phyresis. This would also affect those in the blast, reverting them to a pre-phyrexian state. I can see Karn giving up his life and being able to see a pre-phyrexian Miridan before passing.

@@TKTigerkat on the other hand, Phyrexian mind controlis not perfect. It has been broken before. Xantcha was a purebred Phyrexian through and through and she managed to resist her Phyrexian conditioning and turn against her masters. So there is precedent for it and if a lowly newt can overcome her programming then surely a Planeswalker as powerful as Ajani is capable as well. Though, in that scenario, I would see Ajani preferring to sacrifice himself in an act of redemption, rather than living on as the mutilated monstrosity that he has become.

If nothing else just Xantcha's heartstone in Karn could be made help fight the phyrexians back some way since Xantcha was able to reject the control of the phyrexians that created her

I used to hate Tezzerret. I dismissed him as a lackey of Bolas, and then as a lackey of New Phyrexia. But this story really opened my mind to a more complex character. I can't believe I'm saying this, but... I'm actually starting to like this guy!

This chapter seemed spastic and misplaced as far as story and information. I also was upset the change with power of bolas being overshadowed, as it truly diminished the dragon, the previous gatewatch by proxy), and overall war of the spark. I am not stating bolas was, or is a bigger threat to the multiverse, but it feels odd a being of such intelligence, age, experience, and forethought is pictured as a lesser threat. Without Bolas the phyrexians wouldn't even be in the story outside of mirrodin. Honestly, I feel let down by the brothers war this far, the information I have gotten, while expounding and appreciated, is not what I would call expedient or necessary in many cases. The lack of important characters or explanation of their absence is also distasteful. I also wish that this was not part of the gatewatch as it seems that the title is a misnomer and a lie. The story is NOT bad, just slow, bloated, barren and ill focused.
