It has to be that way. The Silex activation was cos Urza's realization that there's no conciliation, everything was over, and only death was there to continue. But, for a new beggining to arise he has to sacrifice everything. I think that's why this set has a lot of cards that relate to the brothers relationship through the years. Urza had to loose all hope to activate the Silex. But the activation it's about redemption and accepting the cost, the sacrifice. Maybe Teferi will be in that predicament at the end of the war.

I really hope you are right. I would be such a great ending to his arc that he restores Zhalfir and it saved the day. The same way he was trying to save his people when he phased them.

Oh man Teferi totally on Zalfir. Also for All Will Be One I hope we get to see the Phyrexians going into March of the Machines to see their POV and then continue with where the heroes left off either at the end of All Will Be One or at the start of March.

I seems I was right about Teferi's future being uncertain. But I'm ok with this, Teferi was being one of the central characters for a couple of years so, now we can put him to rest for a bit until maybe the final showdown or for his redemption arc (restoring Jamura and Shiv). Yeah we don’t know where or when he is or how his story will end. But we know he, Wrenn, Jodah (along with Chandra and Liliana) are not in the first attack force

Something I noticed about the quotes at the beginning of Chapters 1, 3, and 5 of the side stories, we're given a quote from a character from the Tempest block/Rath Cycle: Eladamri, Lord of Leaves is originally from Tempest. Crovax who's debut was Stronghold. And the Rootwater Saga quote is from the Rootwater Mystic card from Exodus. This is pretty much screaming "Things from the Rath Cycle are going to be important!", but that's not all. I am absolutely convinced that Teferi is in Zhalfir, and going to be bringing it back to Dominaria as part of the battle during March of the Machine, and that in doing so, is going to have to reopen the time rifts, and that the battle on Dominaria vs the Phyrixians is the future we saw back in Future Sight. Both Rath and Time Spiral blocks, Slivers were a VERY prominent creature type....

With Luka I think while he has been on the "evil" side in previous iterations, on his home and on Arcavios he was judged and hated/shunned for his magic and treated as an outsider. When people turn their back on you without reason, I think it's easy to hate, and to then be swept up in that hate. It'll be interesting to see if there's been any growth within him as a person following the events on Arcavios.

To be fair, there's the level of evil that Luca represents, and then there is the phyrexians. I could still see Luca being a antagonist, just putting his priorities in order.

This was such a powerful story. A lot of growth for Teferi at the end. Was also ecstatic when all the walkers showed up! Gave me an Avengers End Game feel! The oath being spoken when everyone came in was inspiring af! I also wonder how long the Wanderer will be able to stay this time? So surprised that she was able to be found and was able to willingly go to Dominaria.

Teferi became one with Urza during the cylex's explosion, to be more precise he became Urza's planeswalker spark. The ending was just him experiencing that beach event as urza.

I’m hoping Teferi is on Zhalfir and he gets them ready to fight (given that they were extremely advanced, they may stand a chance) and forcibly phase it back in.

This might be a strange theory, but what if Mishra somehow survived the sylex blast the same way that Urza did, and became the original planeswalker who created Phyrexia? I know its a long shot but considering Teferi's meddling with time somehow sent Mishra Planeswalker back through time as a result of Teferi's abilities. We know that the original planeswalker who created what became Phyrexia was a humanoid with evil alignment who preferred to take the form of a dragon. That sounds like Mishra with him being fused to a Dragon Engine in the art of Mishra, Lost to Phyrexia. Maybe Mishra awakened his planeswalker spark and survived the blast by being sent back in time, attempting to create a new plane and dying sometime in the process, and then having his spark meld with his Phyrexian bits. I know it would be difficult with how powerful planeswalkers were back then for him to just die randomly while making his plane, but then again its also hard to imagine how the original unnamed planeswalker died as well. Maybe the only way to truly stop Phyrexia is by saving Mishra or atleast stopping him before he can be sent back by the Sylex.

Was thinking, what if Calix becomes a Phyriexanized, it would make sense. In searching for Elspeth, Calix is captured and it makes for an ultimate defense against Elspeth as he still follows his intended design and he aides in the battle against her

I've always wondered if Emrakul would be able to twist the phyrexians just like she did to the inhabitants of Innistrad. I feel it would be easier since phyrexia has broken their minds to fit their ideology so their minds and bodies might still be ripe for twisiting by Emrakul's power.

I would have actually been disappointed if New Phyrexia took only one or two sets to defeat. When I remember how many sets it took to defeat Phyrexia, the first time around, it would have been a letdown if New Phyrexia fell here. So I'm actually happy that the story runs on.

So, I dont know much about dominaria lore, often I have to google the name of character to know who they are. And I read something interesting about Karona. its said that she encounter Teferi somewhen somewhere, but when people asked him about his encounter with her, he said that didnt happen. So if the time travel to the past of Teferi didn't mess up the timeline like the stories are telling us, then in some future story teferi MUST encounter Karona.

For a second I thought we were about to lose Nissa, when editing I like the touch of adding Gideon to it at the end (as a Gideon fan man here lol). I feel like we will lose 1 or 2 more walkers, death wise and I do think eventually Jace will become phyrexian. Wow thanks for the full recap of the story, I can't wait for the set to come out now. I have waiting for a proper Urza card since I started playing magic. I still remember Urza's Armor from 8th, first time I ever read the name in a card. Now wild speculation time. If the sylex is not from thran origin like some suspect, and few things being known from before then, I wonder if connected with the 3 brothers of Otaria, kuber averru ad lowallyn, and their time as rulers, since supposedly their rule was far ancient than the thran empire, I seem to recall, and their powers and capabilities were weird and insane. Also because they must be some of the most forgotten entities magic lore has, I don't recall any references to them since scourge. Watered down Lowallyn, literally, could warp reality and also bring anything into being with barelly any effort, even holes directly into the blind eternities. Kuber, well he didn't do much in the book, but had cool abilities related to money, life and death, and could scrooge mcduck between treasure vaults. And Averru was just broken, nevermind him being a city or the glyph magic at seemingly no cost, heavily referenced in most cards with the ability storm of all things which should tell something about how powerful it is, but he was able to create a spell that could give a being control over all magic in dominaria, in all forms. If someone is capable of bending reality or creating something capable of stealing every little bit of magic from the world, a planar restart button ins't somehting wildly outside their capabilities. TLDR: MTG writers, bring back the numena

You could argue either way. In the beginning he was a hero, but his increasing desperation to seek revenge against the Phyrexians drove him to do some really bad things (eugenics, etc) and made him almost no different from Yawgmoth in the end. Even Urza’s metathran were derived from Phyrexians as they were the only source of Thran DNA.

No, Urza was taking on his ideal appearance - when Teferi started talking to him he was halfway blown to pieces by the Sylex. Pre-Mending planeswalkers could shapeshift - for example, Liliana preferred to look how she did in her early to mid 20’s, and the fact that she couldn’t do it any longer (and in fact began aging rapidly after the Mending) is what led her to make her pact with the demons. Urza looked young for the first couple of thousand years after becoming a planeswalker but stopped caring about his appearance as he became more absorbed by his obsession with the Phyrexians, so he started aging more “normally”, except for when he disguised himself as the Blind Seer during the first invasion.

Overall i thought it was a good story. I will say though i kinda wish we just focused on the current cast and not like new lore about the past. I wish they deviled deeper into character motivations for doing things elspeth, chandra, etc. Also I still want a cure for ajani xD. Elspeth said she needed to save him, IDK HOW SHES GONNA DO IT BUT I HOPE SHE DO IT.

Emrakul sealed herself in the moon by manipulating Tamiyo. I doubt they care about Emrakul tbh tho I hope she makes a return it would be epic to see her and her brothers consume the mana of new Phyrexia. I mean innastrauds moon is made of silver so maybe she can do some time stuff too?

This seems like such an anticlimax. The story doesnt have much to do with The Brother War, the greatest story in MTG history, instead its completely diluted by the phyrexian storyline. Its a shame that they have almost made this as a setup stage for the next story, rather than a defining moment.

It was bit vague, but it kind of sounded to me like Urza is still alive and he wanted to explore the multiverse. This would mean he could make an appearance at any time. He could return at the last hour to help, or he could be twisted and be the next villain. That would be something.

Urza isn't alive. He was killed during the invasion block, when the legacy weapon was activated.
