Karwa Chauth is a festival celebrated by women from the Indian Subcontinent on the fourth day after purnima (a full moon) in the month of Kartika (traditional Hindu calendar)
On Karwa Chauth, married women, especially in North India, observe fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands. These days husbands also keep fast with their wives to support them during the day and as an act of appreciation.
