About Lilith and also Eda relation I want to point out their childhood. I always wondered why Eda hated school where she came to study magic and why is so chaotic if she want to join emperor coven. When I watched episode Them's the Breaks, Kid! everything become clear to me. Eda wanted to join emperor coven because of Lilith. She also came to school, because of her. Eda never had a friends except her sister and she didn't knew show her life would be without her. But when Lilith started to study to join emperor coven she started to not notice Eda. She even didn't notice why Eda wasn't at classroom or that she had trouble for smuggling Lilith. And Eda started to felt lonely. But it was changed after Raine show up. They changed her life and started to hang out more with Raine than her sister and Lilith wasn't happy about it. Eda realize that she didn't care anymore about joining smuggling emperor coven, because she has Raine and like she said to Lilith coven didn't suit her and that's true. Sad that Eda end up to has a curse, because Lilith though Eda was more interested joining emperor coven. But she also doesn't has easy life. I was shocked when I saw Lilith with red curly hair and big glasses. She changed after joining coven and Eda was still the same person like she was as a kid. Lilith adapted emperor coven to be accepted, but when Eda was in danger she couldn't do it anymore and she saved her sister.

Both Clawthorne sisters seem to be neuro-divergent, but in different ways. Lilith seems like someone with autism, while Eda is more like someone with ADHD.

I think people write of early S1 Amity as “meant to be a bully but writers changed their mind” without seeing how the change, while quick, was well integrated. Amity was cut off from Willow and thrown into her parents’ expectations from then on. She adopted the mean, arrogant attitude bc that’s what she was taught. Only after Luz nearly drove her insane was she open to real change

Her spending more time as a bully would've just been dragging on imo. Lost in Language is already her 4th appearance (3rd major). It gave season 1 time to explore other stuff about her, like her and Willow's friendship, her developing crush on Luz, and planting the seeds for the relationship with her parents to be explored in season 2.

A key thing to consider is how Amity speaks- it's like she's forcing herself to sound more harsh and aggressive towards Willow, when she didn't want to. Luz helped her overcome these pressures.

I totally agree with your assessment of Lillith. I think the reason some people defend her actions before her redemption as not being her fault or wrong is because it can be hard for many people to think about these things with nuance. The internet especially loves to present things in Black and white, so it's hard for some people to recognize that Lillith can be a character we've all come to love and appreciate WHILE also having done a lot of really awful things that don't stop being awful simply because she's sorry. There can be a cognitive dissonance in acknowledging someone as having chosen to do something extremely horrible while also recognising that they eventually improved and became a good person because it's so common to think of people as inherently good or bad, or to feel like you have to objectively know when they've crossed the line into 'unforgivable' or 'unreedemable' if there is one. Character's like Lillith spark that dissonance in people, so it can feel like the only way you are 'allowed' to like her or think she's a good person is if you minimise how harmful her past actions were. Whereas you're arguing that what makes her such a great person/character is that she made shitty choices that hurt a lot of people, but she owns up to those choices and actively works on improving and mending some of the harm she caused. But to be honest if I was Eda, it would be really hard to forgive Lillith andI might not choose to forgive her at all. The curse has caused so much pain and harm to Eda's life for so long, and like you said, none of that goes away because Lillith apologised and changed and took on half the burden of the curse. (That doesn't make Lillith a bad or unlikeable character to me, I actually love her, I just don't know if I'd find that particular action forgivable or bring her into the fold anywhere as quickly as Eda and Luz did). And it would have been nice to see that initial tension or mistrust more clearly in the first episodes of season 2, because it is really weird that Eda just forgives her. They paid attention to this tension to some degree with Willow and Amity in that they didn't immediately become close friends, and in the grand scheme of things, their beef with each other is far eclipsed by Eda's and Lillith's. So it's weird that things just go back to normal between Eda and Lillith without that being a factor.

I think if they showed Eda saying something to the degree of blaming Belos and the systems at play more than her sister it would have fit more. Like, instead of blaming her sister as much, especially after having fought her and letting out all that anger when she first found out, she blamed the coven system for making Lillith attack her, and blames Belos for manipulating Lillith more than her sister for believing he would actually help. I think it would fit more as we see Eda be sympathetic to Lillith throughout the series, directly trying to tell her Belos is lying about helping her, giving Lillith her ring so she won’t go back empty handed, etc. Especially since Eda knows her sister from how close they were, and has spent her whole life understanding and rebelling against the systems at hand, controlled by Belos. Edit: No, I don’t think Lillith is blameless, K think the video says it well. I just think it would have been interesting if that was Eda’s take on it, and she wants her sister back in her life more than holding those years of abuse against her. Especially if other characters seeing the circumstances didn’t agree that Eda should forgive her that easily.

Don't think she is worse as belos, as though she is compliant in deaths/injured civilians for millions for profit, she isn't in the level of belos where he spent 300+ years on a plan of mass genocide due to him being a racist bitch calling everyone but himself a sinner. And belos also on the other hand even went out of his way to kill his brother, the one person that cared and loved him all cuz he was (most likely) dating a witch and still tries to rationalise to this day its his brothers fault for dying She is irredeemable and an asshole that obsessed with money and status, but she ain't like belos which doesn't even do it for power but cuz he's messed up (Note, even tho I don't she's the same as belos especially character wise, their both abusers in the end of the day and with how their written I don't think they will ever get reddemed and rightfully so)

One thing I want to see know is, how “hands on” was Odalia in Amity’s life when we first met her (Amity)? That necklace Amity used to have could allow Odalia to communicate telepathically with Amity, but she did so with a similar gem on her own necklace. So was that communication one way or 2 ways? Amity also seems to be able to talk to Odalia through it, saying out loud “yes mom” when Odalia’s mental link to her is revealed as if Odalia could hear her despite being in a somewhat noise area with some distance between them. So, does this mean that Odalia had Amity “bugged” everyone time that necklace was worn (which seems to be all the time) and if she was, does that “bugging” extended to Amity’s thoughts as well? Also, since Odalia works with Skara and Boscha’s parents, was she using them to monitor Amity? Depending on the answers to these questions, outside of just being creepy and wrong and pathetic, it would also explain why Amity became a bully to Willow, rather than just ignoring her. Odalia is obsessed with status and putting everyone “in their place.” She also seems to hold grudges. So willow “daring”not befriend Amity would probably be something she’d hold onto and want to make sure never happened again. I wouldn’t be surprised if she forced Amity to treat Willow the way she had when we first meet (former) Green Bean. If Odalia did have Amity bugged and/or being monitored, she could punish Amity by hurting Willow if Amity didn’t listen. And even if she didn’t do these things, just the fear of her mother finding out was probably enough to keep Amity “in line.” It would explain why Amity went from not wanting Willow to be hurt to being the one to hurt Willow. In Amity’s mind, it was best she be the one hurting Willow because no one can cause pain the way Odalia can. She may have thought that there was no winning and no matter what she chose, Willow would be hurt, so it was best to choose the lesser of 2 evils, that way she could at least protect Willow in some twisted way.

I found your video thoughts very good and you, like the characters in TOH, have learned and grown, sometimes quickly and other times a bit slower but that's life. We all grow at our own pace and motivations. You've got to admit that the writing for the characters and the show in general is so good that it makes KZbin creators, fans of the show and more create very impressive videos, comics, and original music and more. To me, that says something about how the show will last in people's memories and hearts long after the last episode airs. I know that I'll never forget the show as it's easily been one of my favorite shows that Disney... no, any channel has ever produced.

To your point about Lilith's perceived neglect not being acknowledged by the characters as a motivation for the curse, I think it seriously weakens Lilith's entire character. It makes it feel like Gwen started neglecting her AFTER the symptoms of the curse began to appear, which she herself caused at the cusp of adulthood, when she was old enough to know better. Having her even just hint that it could have been a motivation could seriously make a huge difference.

Lmao at the number of people in the fandom trying to sweep aside the Collector's horrible actions because he's just a child who wants to play when he LITERALLY helped along the near mass genocide of the entire boiling Isles. I don't think he's an evil character per se, but I do think it's weird how so many people insist on seeing him as not villainous or antagonistic at all or excusing his actions because of his childlike qualities. Being childlike isn't mutually exclusive to devaluing human life to the point where you are okay with participating in genocide or turning people into play things.

Darn I just keep stumbling upon these nice channels I remember very well that people found Lilith's arc to be rushed but imo at least she recognized her past decisions and tried everything in her power to help issues between her sister and mother. Odalia, unlike Alador, will likely not realize that her children don't want or need to be among the top of the systems Belos created, as that greed and hunger to reach the top is the very thing that made her family break from her. Edric could've pursued a potential passion in the potion or beastkeeping track similar to Willow, but Odalia likely pushed him to stay within the abomination business. Amity realized with the help of Luz and the other members of the Hexside squad that she didn't really want or need to become a coven head and be at the top, and she was the one who fought for what she really wanted rather than her mother.

I'm not sure that favouritism is a factor with Lilith's decision to use the curse, as the time's we've seen Eda getting more attention are after Lilith cursed her. I got the impression that Eda got the extra attention entirely because of the curse, the same way that a child with a serious long term (potentially degenerative) disease will often get the majority of their parent's attention leaving any healthy siblings feeling neglected.
@astralaurora4165
@astralaurora4165 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about that. In Keeping-Up-Afearances, her mom points out that she was always self-sufficient, so didn’t give her the attention she deserved. I always got the impression that Eda was naturally more talented than Lilith and that she was always chasing her. It would make a lot more sense that her feeling neglected by her parents, and then Raine coming into the picture, caused her to take extreme measures to get some sort of attention from her parents. Eda was also more prone to trouble, so her parents could’ve been more focused on Eda in that aspect too. I think Lilith being neglected is also implied in Knock Knock Knockin On Hootys Door, when her mother dismisses something she’s just done.
@wendyheatherwood
@wendyheatherwood Жыл бұрын
@astralaurora The scene in Knock Knock Knocking on Hooty's Door was after the curse though, so I read that more as the start of the neglect.

I have a potential theory for "The Owl House," could Luz (and humans in general) possibly be something of an amplifier for magic cast by witches? The reason I bring this up is because some of the most impressive feats (outside of Eda's) were performed with Luz either being directly involved or in close proximity to the spell being cast. Do you find this theory plausible or am I just finding something where there is nothing?
