I have a bit of a low supply, late to getting the hospital pump. I'm hoping even though I'm 6 weeks PP so here we go!

@@myrandarosenbaum9332 I have same problem 7weeks pp, how did it go? Is it worth it?

I am renting this pump! I’m 4 weeks in and still figuring out how to get my supply really going. I only get about half an oz from each breast when I pump. Not giving up though!

Im 6 days after cesarian I'm not getting milk or colostrum, didn't get much support at the hospital to latch the baby , too painful and started get them damaging. I hope this pump will help 😢

This pump is the main reason we were able to be successful in our breastfeeding goals. My baby was a preemie with jaundice so getting him to stay awake at my breast to properly latch and nurse was a real challenge for the first week of his life. By using this pump I was able to establish my milk supply so that he could successfully nurse once he was better able to stay awake to nurse at my breast.

Im in this exact boat right now with a 3 day old. How often did you pump and for how long?
@8amara2 жыл бұрын
@@sonyaberkenpas5071 I did triple feeds, so I would attempt to nurse for as long as he could, then pump for 15 min every time he showed hunger cues. For my baby, it ended up being around every 2-3 hours around the clock. It was exhausting, but luckily my milk came in around day 5 and around that time we were able to mostly switch over to nursing.
@sonyaberkenpas50712 жыл бұрын
@@8amara That makes sense, thank you! Also, did you press the “let down” button as soon as you started pumping OR just the power button. That part is not clear to me on how to use this pump. Thanks again!

Hello, the kid we are using while in the hospital has the colostrum protector. What is the difference in using that part versus, not?

Do you think this is better than the spectra ?
@katiecasey17352 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using this exclusively for my first month of postpartum. I’m going to be returning it to the hospital but I’m looking for a similar one that I can purchase. I tried the Medela In Style and the suction was completely different. Do you recommend one that is similar to the Symphony? I’m thinking the Spectra s1.
@KassiReyes2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes the pumpin style is very different. What I found to be most similar for me was the Spectra 1 or 2. The suck pattern is a little different, because it has a bit of a vibration, but it is a pump that does a great job.

Hi Kassi, thank you so much for this! I had a question about the tubing if you find any condensation left in the tubes. You mention running the machine for an additional 5 minutes. Do I keep all the parts attached while running it (i.e. do not disconnect the tubing from the connector, flange, bottle, etc)?? Thanks!!
@KassiReyes2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching :) you can disconnect the other parts and just leave the tubes on while doing this

I’m renting one beginning today. If you adjust the expression phase suction, does it remember that setting for next time? It’s one thing I like (and don’t like since I usually start shallower and work up to higher suction and lower cycles) about my spectra lol.
@ITgurl852 жыл бұрын
By the way, I’m renting because my spectra is only getting about an ounce at a time. My baby is away from me during the day so that’s not enough, plus I had to start out supplementing with formula just as I was trying to establish supply early on. My baby lost almost 13% of his birthweight and they wouldn’t let us leave until he was gaining again. 😢

Hi, I’m 11 weeks into breast feeding but I want to establish a greater milk supply to be able to create bottles. Would this pump be useful now in order to increase my supply? Thanks

We have that medela in our hospital but can I use different type of tubing, flanges and other items?
@KassiReyes3 жыл бұрын
The tubing is pretty specific to the symphony, but the other parts from any medela pump should be compatible, and for other brands parts, there are often adaptors available. If you are a patient in the hospital who ends up needing to pump with an hospital grade pump, the hospital will often provide you with a kit of the parts you need

@@KassiReyes actually Im working in a hospital as a nurse but we’re not allowed to take and use the kit.. but we are allowed to use the symphony machine.. I purchased a kit from amazons hopefully it will be compatible..
@KassiReyes3 жыл бұрын
@@reinlazel1988 Oh awesome. So great the you have access to the Symphony pump at work. I hope the kit you got works too. The main difference with the Symphony kit from the other Medela kits is the tubing. The tubing should have two yellow disks with a diaphragm on one end. If your kit has this, you should be good to go. Otherwise, you can buy the tubing separately and all the other Medela parts should be compatible. Good luck with your journey back to work 💪

@KassiReyes2 жыл бұрын
It depends on where you live, but some hospitals have a pump rental program, and some lactation consultants or lactation centers rent them out
@veronicacrowe2191 Жыл бұрын
Hi! I just started my pumping journey after exclusively BF for 4 months. I got the Pump in Style through insurance, but my work office has lactation rooms with this pump in it. I notice the tubing looks the same but the end has the valve thing. Does the regular tubing plug into the valve or will I need to buy new tubes that work for this pump specifically. I'm hoping this hospital grade pump helps as I'm struggling with low supply and my daughter has been losing weight even though she'd feed for 6-7 times a day 😭
