After setting the centrifugal brakes on this newer model (1-6 on new models) I set it on 3. Magnetic brakes on 4 and the spring tension knob where the lure barely drops then back off just a hair more. Now I can't make it backlash. It casts great. I'm loving it. For a $50.00 reel I'm very impressed. Kastking needs to add a little slip of paper and tell customers to set the reel up as I've described and adjust from there if need be.

Thanks so much for this vid! I also bought the royale and the stealth and have been having similar issues. I am not new to bait casting; however, my experience has been mostly with non-levelwind "barrel type baitcasters for surf fishing. I thought it was my inexperience with low-profile baitcasters and braid line. I went out in my backyard this afternoon and tried your tip - WOW - what a difference! Before the only way I could avoid the backlashes was to crank down the tension to point the lure wouldn't drop to the ground all the way - Thank You for the tip!

Hi there...I my experience of using this real extensively this summer I can tell you that the direct brake blocks system does not have any impact on the casting what so ever. However what I did have to do was loosen the spring loaded screws that secure the magnets to bring them closer to the spool to make them work properly. Mine now casts perfectly everytime with no back lash at all.
@dank64308 жыл бұрын
This is a good tip. Raising those 2 screws slightly is exactly what mine needed. My magnetic brakes did not work at all prior to that.

actually those switches inside the side plate are centrifugal brakes, they put pressure on the spool in a different way than the magnetic does. i believe the reason that particular reel backlashes more foten is the cross drilled spool, it accelarates faster than a normal spool thus causes backlashing.

I have seen that you like both the stealth and whitemax. Is there one of them that you prefer over the other? I am going to get one of the two, but I wasn't sure which one yet. It would be used mostly for spinnerbait/topwater stuff with many a crank bait or two thrown in there. Anything helps! Thank you

Thanks for watching!! If I were you I would get the stealth because of what you will be using it for spinnerbait and crankbait fishing. You will want the higher gear ratio. If you are going to do a lot of deep cranking the whitemax is what you will want cause it has a really low gear ratio. Good luck and hope this helps!! 🙌

I own a stealth and it's a great reel for the price but it has a lousy breaking system (out of the box), I've been using baitcasters for quite a while and i usually don't have problems with over run/back lash. the reel often backlashes when Im trowing light baits and the external & internal adjustment seemed to have little effect (other than the spool tension nob). The "centrifugal breaks" are actually just plastic pins rubbing against the spindle that slows the spool down with friction and the only way I could get a noticeable difference in performance was backing out the 2 screws that hold down the magnetic breaks about half a turn and

When set up correctly the dual breaking system on baitcasting or larger multiplier reels work great. You only have to look at the success of Abu's flagship 600 series beach casting reels with the mag brakes as well as the original centrifugal only brakes on earlier models. Many baitcasters have used dual braking in the past. Quantum reels became popular because they used the same centrifugal type braking as the the beloved Shimano Bantam reels, but Quantum upped the game by producing an externally adjustable centrifugal braking just like magnetic braking systems. They were very good too and still rated among the best braking baitcaster reels on the market. In 2015 Quantum renewed it's Whole PT range of alloy tournament reels by introducing a new frame and body. The other thing was the new dual braking systems, that are identical to the system used in the new Kastking Assasin. Considering the high cost of some of these reels, i was shocked to find no information on how to set up these dual system brakes. But luckily before i bought the reels i found several guys had written for help on several fishing forums about how the new Quantum PT reels were backlashing, just like the Kastking Assasin. In fact a large amount of Quantum buyers had no idea these reels had an extra centrifugal fully adjustable braking system behind the sideplate and built onto the spool. Most kids thought it was just the magnetic braking. Eventually a couple of guy's wrote in to explain you must have the internal brakes to be set at no less than 3. Without the inner braking working, the magnetic brakes will not give enough control to stop baclashing. In every case guys wrote back to say this worked and no more birds nests. And i'm now seeing the same thing with the dual braking kastking baitcasting reels. I presume the same lack of information is lacking in the instruction book. The information Kastking gave on how the two different types of braking affect the spool inertia at startup and towards the end, was totally correct. The info on how to set up two brake blocks opposite each other rather than next to each other was also sound advice. As was the important tip on setting up the spool end cap so your lure drops slowly to the floor and as it stops, so should no more line peel off the spool. All these things become less important when you learn to naturally thumb the spool, and a good caster can get away without any braking whatsoever. But this advice is aimed at the young, or the novice angler and in the film and later comments it answers every single question on this subject CORRECTLY!. And even though he did that, some idiots still asked about already answered questions. Great information film that should help buyers of all dual braking baitcasters.

I have 3 royale legends and the Spartacus and I have NEVER had a problem with them backlashing. My brother got the stealth and neither of us could keep it from backlashing. I tried all the tricks, this 1-3, 2-4 trick. I tried 1-2, 3-4. We had all of them set and the outside brakes all on and it still backlashed. We tried all of them off and it still backlashed. Not sure what the deal was with that one reel.

I just got a new STEALTH. I just don't get how to adjust or maybe mine is factory fault unit. My casting at max Megnet, all the centrifugal botton in, and no lure free falling makes backlashes. No matter how easy casting, I need thumb control. The worst partis that my fluorocarbon lines, 0.3mm, 12LB, rolled into the space between spool and body when backlashes. My another baitcasting reel, ProMax, makes no backlashes does not need thumb control at all when you set the full magnet break on.
@jaekyoonoh56797 жыл бұрын
Updates. I figured out how to set. There were some experiment how to do. First, I set mechanical force at the point when my lure drops slowly like this clip shows. Next, I adjust mechanical knob to tighten a quarter turn. No backlashes but no dropping of a lure gives inconvenience. At this point, I thought that Increasing magnet force would be the last option. There are 2 screws on the cover plate that holds magnets. 2 turns in the counter-clock wise lead to come closer magnets to the spool. That will increase the magnet force. Now, it would dramatically decrease the backlashes. Now, my settings are All Centrifugal botton in Magnet dials is on Max Machanical setting is just like this clip shows, Slow Drop.

@SOFishing8 жыл бұрын
Here is what I received from a KastKing member this afternoon. This should answer that, I hope. :) We feel that it doesn’t matter much what pins you click on as long as they are opposite numbers (not adjacent); That braking mechanism ( which does not adjust the magnets); is to control startup inertia (backlash at the beginning of the cast) the magnetic brake adjustment controls backlash at the end of the cast. So you may have to make further adjustments for conditions such as wind.

The new stealth is different from what these videos show on the centrifugal braking system. I've been using Shimano and Diawa Reels my whole life. This by far is the most difficult to dial in. It's Kastkings fault there are no instructions in the box. Only a book to buy more kastking products.

Quick question: why do you switch 1 and 3? Why not 1 and 4 or 3 and 2?
@SOFishing8 жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure. I watched Gene Jenson do this in an old video he put out a long time ago and that is what he said to do, turn the odd numbered switches on. So that is what I have always done and it has worked and helped when I have had trouble casting a reel if it has this type of breaking system.
@deadgizmogaming2078 жыл бұрын
It's because that's the spool brake not magnetic break, it evenly distributes pressure on the spool, 1/3 are opposite of each other same as 2/4. If you turn on 1/2 the pressure on the spool isn't equal and won't have the desired affect. The same goes for centrifugal brakes.
@wendyjones50368 жыл бұрын
New England Bass + Because the braking wouldn't balance out . When something is spinning very fast you get better balance and better braking if you pull out the brake block exactly opposite the one you have already pulled out. pulling out 2 blocks next to each other gives lower braking due to the effect of centrifugal force. Several others have already mentioned the difference this makes when setting up centrifugal brakes. With time and practice you can cast a reel without any braking whatsoever just by using your thumb. Even with the best braking systems. It's just something i learnt to do. Throwing heavy lures for pike/muskie is easier to do without braking except your thumb. But throwing light lures with the same set up is much harder. Those that put in a lot of time on the water soon become familiar with the gear they use. Diameter of your line can have a difference to how much your reel backlashes. Strictly speaking a heavier line tends to cast better with much less chance of getting a backlash. Using thinner lines on a baitcaster means you stand more of a chance of backlashing. Most importantly is setting up the drop of your lure correctly. If you hold out your rod straight in front of you and release the thumb bar, the lure should fall slowly to the floor, more importantly when it stops no more coils of line should run off the spool. If it drops fast and coils of line start to spool of, that's your backlash on a smaller scale. You need to wind in the spool end cap to make it fall gently and land without pulling off loose coils of line. So when you lure stops as it hits the water, the same thing happens so you don't get a backlash. Until you get good at thumbing the spool you have to go through the same thing every time you put on a lure that's lighter or heavier than the 1/4.oz lure you just used. If you tried to throw a 1/2. or 3/4.oz lure on the same setting, the heavier weight would carry on pulling line off the spool at a faster speed leading to a backlash. Besides braking power, it's important you always have that end cap tightened so your lure drops slowly. Get it right and you shouldn't have to worry about backlashes. When using lures under 1/8 you are better off using the correct gear for throwing light lures and that means spinning or spincast reels. The weight of the lure easily peels line off a stationary spool. But the light lures struggle to make a baitcaster spool spin so it lets of line. The same lure will cast a mile when using a spinning reel.

Braid is not the best line for a baitcaster

Thanks for watching!! I use braid on about 95% of my baitcasters. I am just curious what would you recommend is the best line for a baitcaster? To me, it really depends on the technique you are fishing. If you mainly fish crankbaits, then braid is not the best choice for sure. Copolymer or Fluorocarbon would be your best choice for example.
