AJ Gore is back with a brand new addition to the KastKing Zephyr lineup and this one is in the KastKing Zephyr spinning reel department. He says, “There's already two KastKing Zephyr spinning reels, so we're going to take a look at those and then we're going to see what makes this one different it's still part of the casting Zephyr lineup from KastKing Zephyr baitcasters to KastKing Zephyr spinning reels and this reel right here is the newest and the next shot and I gotta say it is pretty dang snazzy. Let’s dive into it and see what makes this Zephyr a Zephyr.
“Before I tell you about this Zephyr I want to tell you about this one the original and realistically the true Zephyr BFS spinning reel so this is a very it's one of the lightest spin reels KastKing's ever produced and it's a very small platform spinning reel, not available in as many platforms as say the previous Zephyr that came after this one, or I should say previous to the last one I just showed you the silver gold. This Zephyr right here is a true BFS spinning Zephyr. It is made of a carbon fiber frame as well as a carbon rotor it is a 7 +1 stainless steel shielded ball bearing. It has a triple disc carbon fiber drag that produces 10 pounds of drag, beautiful CNC machine spool that is braid ready and of course an asymmetrical rotor that like I said, is a carbon-based rotor CNC machined aluminum handle EVA grip and when you crank this handle you're gonna be getting a 5.2:1 gear ratio. This is a cool finesse style BFS spinning reel.
“This Zephyr came next and it is available in several different sizes as opposed to the BFS Zephyr. This guy right here has got a graphite chassis instead of that carbon fiber chassis and a CNC machined aluminum spool has an aluminum handle with an EVA grip. Now where this guy is really going to excel is in its drag where the BFS system granted it's a lot smaller and it's more finesseable had a 10 pound triple disc carbon fiber drag, well this guy is no exception with a triple disc carbon fiber drag. But instead of 10 pounds which I know you're thinking that's pretty light, but if you're in BFS or bait finesse system you're not looking for monster drag -- you're really doing that really fine finessing system and really trying to you know entice that fish into biting when things are really stressful. Well this guy's kind of more the opposite it's coming in with that triple disc carb fiber drag and 33 pounds of drag up to 33 pounds of drag depending on the model you choose that's a huge step over 10 pounds of drag.
“Let's cover those options again and break them down. Graphite frame okay still lightweight and strong but not as light as you would see in the previous, or the actual BFS spinning reel. You got that machine cut spool it is also cut and braid ready up to 33 pounds of triple disc carbon fiber drag and we're seeing as we saw on the last previous BFS Zephyr this is coming in at 5.2:1 gear ratio. This one also 7 + 1ball bearings.
“Now to the new kid on the block. I mean okay what's going to set it apart and what makes it any different from the other Zephyr that's bigger and better so to speak if you're not going to be finessing you're going to be more traditional style fishing and not using those incredibly light lines like four to six pound test that you're going to be using on the actual BFS system. Why would you buy this one that's more expensive over the black version? Well let me tell you now we have a carbon fiber nylon infused frame so that's going to give you a very strong frame but yet still very lightweight you have that carbon rotor CNC machined spool with them, you got it the etching for that braid ready system you have a roller bearing system on that aluminum bail you have an aluminum handle EVA comfort grip. It's got a gorgeous paint job that 5.2:1 gear ratio we're talking about. But now you're in a 10 +1 shielded stainless steel ball bearing setup and let's cover that drag now granted the drag on that guy is up to 33 pounds of drag and then this dude the little guy right here this cat 10 pounds of carbon fiber drag this guy right here the new silver and gold Zephyr well this one 22 pounds of drag so all three models have carbon fiber drag triple disc 10 pound 33 pound and this one up to 22 pounds 10 + 1 stainless steel shielded ball bearings that carbon infused nylon frame aluminum handle EVA grip. This reel is just going to be a buttery smooth extremely lightweight but still strong spinning reel that you guys are going to absolutely love.

Finesseable? I can put 2lb line on a 4000 size reel to call it 'bfs" and no difference.....

The most important key feature of the BFS reel is that you can use micro lure for this reel. 1.5g-10g

@@KastKing i can use a 1.5g-10g lure on any spinning reel with 4lb test. As long as the rod loads up. Any spinning reel can be bfs....just baitcasters need light spools and good brakes. Spinning reels are the original bfs...

Why would you refer to ANY spinning reel as BFS? By definition BFS is a baitcaster. Just call it what it is, finesse.

@@Tallnerdyguy I only hesitantly purchased their actual BFS reel, the Zephyr baitcaster, because this type of video just reinforced my feeling that they are nothing more than a marketing company. But credit where it is due, the Zephyr baitcaster is a good value.

@@RonMTube you bought a baitcaster which CAN be bfs. All spinning reels are inherent to bfs with relatively light line. You COULD spool a 12000 size spinning reel with 600yards of 2lb test and cast 1/64th oz trout magnets. It would be a 30oz reel on an ultralight rod, but it would work. Bfs for baitcaster is that they have light spools with low rotational mass and brakes that aren't overpowering. No brakes or rotational mass for spinning reels.

@@Tallnerdyguy just do a little research on the history of BFS and you'll find it came out of Japan and is about baitcasters that can throw light lures. It has nothing to do with spinning, which could always do finesse.
