Kata KOSHOKUN DAI by Rika Usami

As student of Karate Shotokan I have to admit that I don't know many katas of Shito or Wado-ryu school. But, on the same, watching these videos I'm getting more and more interested in them. Rika Usami is a great champion for sure, one of the atletes that Karate should be proud to have in. Great Rika!

IT LOOKS TO ME A COMBINATION OF KANKU DAI/KANKU SHO COMBINATION. OR IN OTHER STYLES THEY CALL IT KUSHANKU/CHIBANA KUSHANKU COMBINATION. HEY AT THE END IT IS THE WKF RIGHT??? WELL THEY MIX AND MATCH EVERYTHING TO MAKE IT LOOK GOOD IN COMPETITION!!!!!!! SAD, VERY SAD. NORMAN (SANDAN)

Actually, this is the Kanku dai in Shito Ryu. When Shotokan calls it Kanku dai, Shito Ryu names it Koshonku dai. The same with Shotokan Kanku sho whose equivalent in Shito Ryu is Koshonku sho. Styles differ and so do techniques and their mind. But Karate remains one: the Art to go beyond one's own limits using one's only weapon and tool: bare body.
