Katakuri vs Wano (Rant)- One Piece

I haven't done a rant in a while so I thought it would be a good idea to tackle one of the worst downplays. Katakuri is big moms strongest commander, and takes the mantle of control whenever she goes beserk. Big mom is one of the four emperors so it only makes sense that her right hand man would be comporable to other commanders in the story.
So allow to work my way through the beast pirates including yamato, Until we can accurately scale the Minister of Flour.

Katakuri cannot take down Luffy because Luffy is stronger than both him, Queen, and King. Queen was taken down by a few hits from Sanji, and while Katakuri is most likely weaker than Sanji, he can still hit Queen enough times and it's gg.

the big mom pirates gets downplayed so much its so stupid, this mainly because BM pirates are more of a side antagonist rather than an the main one. WCI arc is literally just a side arc prior to wano, if sanji didnt get kidnapped no WCI, but that aside the beast pirates had so much screen time and more significance to the story making the bias favor them, but in reality BM pirates and beast pirates are very relative.

Lore and feats are the most essential when power scaling. In the story, Who's Who is the strongest Tobi Roppo but when it comes to feats, Ulti has taken way more damage than WW and got back up (BM's Maser Cannon + Nami & Zeus, on top of Yamato's Thunder Bagua). When one contradicts the other, usually feats are put above lore. Cases like Ulti are odd. I know she's not YC level but her durability easily is, so idk tbh. She won't keep up for sure but she might hang in there.

Part of the Katakuri disrespect comes from people not realising that Oda is not a powerscaler and also that narrative matters when powerscaling. Ulti is used as a example of a character stronger that Katakuri because of her interaction with Luffy. What Katakuri haters don’t factor in is that Luffy did not Even attempt to dodge Ulti’s head butt and only used gear 5 to get away from her. She showed no feats of being overwhelming powerful just strong enough to hold base Luffy (a below 6ft rubber man) in her Zoan form. The other reason is that Chart showing how many hits Katakuri got on Luffy vs how many he took. With the recent revelations about Luffy’s fruit and obviously plot armour this is irrelevant. Luffy is immune to blunt force damage due to his fruit, so the only attacks that would do damage are when he puts spikes on his mochi and when he stabs Luffy. Btw why the F Luffy live that he had a decent portion of his abdomen severed? Plot armour that’s why.

@@obezy8705 how do they get washed when oda's commander structure has their portrayal to be about equals? 3YC cracker is a defensive character capable of creating tough warriors essetially being an army creator where as 3YC jack is also a defensive character with tons and tons of endurance and high durability and stamina being able to outlast plenty of characters on his way to W if the circumstances allow that to happen he's also a one man army, he defeated mink troops TWICE and people say he's got no W 2YC smoothie is this powerful sword user who can increase her size granting her increased power overall while also being able to throw VERY powerful windslashes more powerful than zoro ever shown at that point back then proving she is a tanky beast with powerful ranged attacks where as queen is pretty much the same he can increase size due to hybrid form and shoot from wide range using the weapons he has from his cyborg body 1YC katakuri was implied by luffy to be invincible when he regains his composure and calms down and 1YC king was said by zoro to be pretty much invincible when the flames are on his back... in one piece the intent of a character MATTERS!!! kaido exclusively states countless times that he wants to be thrilled and feel challenged... he had future sight and never used it pre ch 1042 proving how consisten oda is not only with his powerscaling but also with the actions his characters take when they express an emotion to which the audience should listen to OTHERWISE YOU SHOULDNT BE TALKING!!! ACOC fresh buffed luffy was mocked by kaido who no diffed him off screen while he was holding back massively not using FS not using bigger hybrid nor drunk phases... and u think zoro could actually be an adversity if kaido actually tried? NO NO NO it aint happening until EOS learn to read! luffy also says that he "underestimated them" when he talked about page one and ulti, he wanted to save as much energy as possible to be healthy for the big battle so thats a nerf and its not like ulti overpowered luffy by being stronger at any rate, the floor collapsed from the impact where luffy was standing giving ulti an advantage there, he also didnt use acoa otherwise they would both get clapped MIND U base armament luffy g3 broke page one's jaw.... katakuri scales massively above that version of AP unless luffy uses ryuo which he didnt in this instance... katakuri destroys your favorite commander buddy

Must disagree on Kata vs King. Kata would be able to predict when King's flame off would be and his battle iq is higher than Zoro so he would be able to figure it out faster. This combined with his DF abilities completely negates King's ranged attacks too. King's attack power and durability are greater when his flames are in the proper modes, but Kata has the more versatile devil fruit given his awakening, better predictive haki, better battle iq and is by no means in a completely different league from King in terms of power and durability, simply not as good when the appropriate flame modes are activated. Ergo, I say Kata takes this but with extreme difficulty.

No he is not. Kata vs King goes either way. High / EXTREME. King is not INVINCIBLE. Even Queen can scale to King. Lets say Queen vs King and Queen turns invisible, wth would King do?! Not much. And Katakuri vs King is a matter of SPEED. King would not be able to get hits in unless he turns his flames off, which will increase his speeds, but then King will be vulnerable. At that point, it goes either way. Kata's mochi can't be easily burned down either, as it was already HOT, hot enough to burn WCI Luffy's haki.

It is really a sad world we live in where people think Katakuri isn't going toe to toe with only the 'right hand men' of these crews rather than simple officers. I cannot express how, while there is indeed Wano power creep, there is the much worse power creep, being offscreen. Nearly every returning villain has had some boost to allow them to be in the club for a little while in comparison to their previous iteration, with current Lucci being a prime example.

Great points and I agree with the Katakuri respect, only minor quibble -- Perespero is portrayed to be relative to a heavily INJURED Jack By your point on Izou I know Oda likes to be all over the place with endurance, basically unless a character is unconscious or dead they're often still hitting at full power, but the distinction here does seem important because Oda was heavily emphasizing Neko/Inu/Jack's injuries

Yeah I agree. Taking damage is more stamina based. Like zoro breaking every bone in his body and still scarring Kaido, he attacked at full power but was unable to fight right after using ashura.

It somewhat matters but also doesn't, hence Kaidou having fought scabbards and roof piece and then still clapping Yamato with thunder bakuga

@@D.Strawhat Kaido 100% has higher durability than BM in his hybrid/dragon form. However, when Luffy "fought" Kaido in chapter 923, Luffy on gear 4 gets several panels of free hits on a base form scale-less haki-less Kaido. This was a Luffy who definitely got much stronger from fighting Katakuri for twelve hours, since he went from not even being able to clash with him (Katakuri had stronger armament at the beginning of their fight) to eventually overcoming him. To reiterate, this vastly superior gear 4 enraged luffy didn't even put a scratch on Kaido, who is base form is closer to Big Meme's somewhat underrated durability. Linking back to the video (giant tangent, sorry lmao) I do agree with Kat stopping at King, however, I do think Queen has the durability and endurance to give Kat a really tough fight

@@snoipe6365 Kaido Have scales even in base, he is mad durable in that form, Big mom is not Kaido, nowhere as durable as even Base kaido and nowhere states that Start wano arc luffy is far superior to WCI Luffy that fought Kat. Kaido himself says that Scabbards can't cut or pierce him before the scabbards landed their blows. kaido was in base form when he said this. So Yes, Luffy can hurt Big mom, independent how much you dislike it, she needing to use haki to protect herself confirms Luffy can hurt her if she doesn't use haki.

Big Mom has been portrayed multiple times to be on a similar level to Kaido in physical ability, she just has the IQ of a disabled brick. The physical stat gap between Kaido in base form and BM is a lot smaller than people say, but the fact is, it's got nothing on the titanic fuckin store brand G A P between WCI Luffy and BM, if she had the IQ of at least a semi sapient being, Luffy woulda gotten the Kuri treatment early

@@snoipe6365 Doesn't matter, he is still mad durable in Base form because of his Devil fruit, that's why Base Kaido to scabbards "your swords can't pierce my scales" when he was in Base. Kaido in Base have far better durability than Big mom easily. He didn't need any haki to protect himself against G4 attacks, Big mom needed and she used to protect herself vs Luffy. If Luffy couldn't hurt her she wouldn't use it, she using haki is same as luffy using haki to protect himself from attacks of others who could hurt him. Characters don't use Haki for no purpose.

As a man who puts Katakuri as an overwanked bum: this video had some fair things, and things I don’t think hold up at all. Persospero being above the Tobi Roppo: ehhh. You acknowledge yourself he was beating down on a pre sulong Neko who was injured. Once Sulong came out he got whooped. Especially when you tried to compare to Jack who was holding off both of them non stop for 5 days until Sulong came out. Using that is all is kinda jank. Especially when the inciting incident of the arc shows off the power creep. To me saying the flying six are all relative is like saying warlord level is a thing. I don’t get the amount of people who say Who’s who’s is the strongest Tobi roppo when nothing backs that up. Ulti is by miles. She has an actual feat against Luffy, she has the best durability/endurance compared to the rest by miles. And the biggest reach of this video: Saying Katakruri has good AP due to the Big Mom block. We acknowledge as a community by now: Big Moms a dumbass when it comes to using her Haki. Wether or not she used it: Luffy wasn’t going to damage in G4. This is supported when he couldn’t hurt Kaido at all with stronger move while also being stronger stat wise than before. later who wasn’t using armament, and was in base. Trying to upscale Kat off of that is the weirdest argument I’ve seen. So no Kats AP, along with durability isn’t great by any means. I agree that Kat probably beats everyone up to King: but that’s purely if he keeps dodging, and then wails on them for ages.

good video overall. the best point you made was about perospero, you can't argue with that but you could also argue that the other scabbards are relative to them in sulong forms which low diffed him. i agree he beats queen but it's not as much of a wash as you made it out to be, the part about luffy making big mom use haki is a bit disingenuous (she used haki to punch law, does that mean she can't hurt him without it?) you don't always need a good reason to use haki in a fight.

Good video but the queen downplay is crazy! Also the ultimate downplay is even worse she is clearly the strongest Tobi roppo by feats and should not be compared to x drake. Her durability due to the big mom and nami attacks is off the charts and she clashed with a post udon luffy and they tied. Not saying she would beat him at all but that is a significant feat. Kat is definitely somewhere between king and queens level but the gap between king and queen isn’t as big as you say and lastly most of the katakuri downplay has seem to come as a result of the new Sanji agenda but to be fair all the characters that people say Sanji can beat … he can beat them including king Marco and kat

Without power creep, while also using Perospero argument, Katakuri power level only ranges from Jack to Queen. He has no argument to win against Marco, King, Rayleigh, or any notable YC1.

I'm tryna get that smoothie treatment frfr. I agree on some parts. I have Jack above the sweet 3, only because there's no conceivable way they can outlast him in a 1v1. Maybe smoothie because of her DF, but even Kat doesn't have the AP to put Jack down in a few hits considering even Zunisha couldn't kill this man with a trunk slap... It's not that i think Jack can "beat" Katakuri or Smoothie, he'll definitely outlast them though. Him boxing with Neko and Inu for 5 days is just pressure considering they know how to use Ryou and can pierce Kaido's scales. We established Zoro at that point >> Luffy in his fight against Kat, which is correct. Zoro's stats at this point are way beyond WCI Snake man with the KoH conq coating/Ryou and everything. Despite that, King was still punishing this suped up Zoro. It's logical to me to conclude that Kat would get speed blitzed and one tapped by King. Considering he barely took hits from WCI luffy and got dropped. We learned from Luffy that if you're too fast, future sight isn't worth anything, because you'll just get blitzed. The same should be true of Sanji as well against Queen. Dodged Kats bean flick 😏 without looking but got tagged by queen a few times. Having enough AP to knock out BM even off guard is kinda nuts. But I'll chalk that up to comedy because that's what this manga is mostly about. And I hate queen too, so there's that All in all, the beast pirates were stronger than the Mom pirates but Not by a huge margin..(only king, he was in a whole other tier) but really, it comes down to Durability and Endurance for Top Tiers. Beast pirates have more of that. The only low diff is King vs any minister. Everything else is mid high

Yamato beats Katakuri, I strongly believe that. And I think Jack is way too durable to lose to Cracker. But Smoothie should beat Jack, yes. As for Queen, I think he is underrated a bit. I bet he can beat Smoothie. As for Queen vs Katakuri, it is not that easy of a fight as many would think. There is not a big gap between Queen and King. Queen VS Katakuri is a hard diff for Kata and yes, King beats Kata. I think that is obvious. But Big Mom was a Yonko, just like Kaido. Full army I am not sure Kaido and his army win however. They must have relatively close elite squad as well, otherwise one army would crush the other. Even with what seems like the weaker elite force, Big Mom has more capable fighters in her army than Kaido I believe. Kaido has fewer but stronger elite while Big Mom has a looot of elite individuals.

I think people forget that one piece doesn't have the same power increses like Black Clover or Dragon Ball it has a very slow incres in power with usally end of saga villains being definetly stronger than the previous and even that could be debateble depending at the lenght of the saga so it's more accurate to say that WCI monster trio would go Sanji and Zoro being able only able to defeate Tobi roppo rank members of BM pirates while Luffy being able to fight and defeate yonko comanders. And lets not forget that Oda also likes to give certain kicks in for certain characters to show that they can at least fight back like Persopero having a way to "beat" Marco even if in a fair and propar battle he would lose to Marco in a few minutes

All the Scabbards have ryuo which is needed to hurt Kiado. Kinemon is shown arcs ago to be weaker than chracters like Dressrosa Luffy but just had the exact haki to cut someone like Kiado whereas Luffy when in act one did not. This is my personal problem with the scaling in Wano because people use durability and AP to scale in an arc where an enitre pirate crew is centred around that. So many people completely ignore the fact that outside of King, Kaido and Yamato none of the beats pirates have the speed to hit Katakuri since none have scaling anywhere close to a Snakeman Luffy who was using future sight to track Katakuri.

Thunder Bagua blitzes and beats current Zoro tbf since Zoro does not have Future Sight and has not shown tanking yonko's attack to the head. Chapter 1000 Luffy dodging Kaido's nameless club swing while with Future Sight he barely dodged Thunder Bagua is a proof that Thunder Bagua is much faster than Kaido's nameless club swing that he used on scabbards. Katakuri being much faster than base rooftop Luffy can dodge Thunder Bagua in his sleep.

I have Katakuri clearly as a 1st Commander level character, duh, and think that the people who scale the Tobbi Roppo, Jack and Queen above him are ridicioulous. However he is basically at the bottom of my 1st Commader level characters (who have feats), for now. I have people like Marco, Sanji, King, Zoro etc... above him. The Wano powerscale did increase, but not to the degree that the Tobbi Roppo would defeat Katakuri. There may also be other 1st Commander characters above WCI Katakuri, like some of the Red hair pirates, like Lucky Roo and Yasopp. Or maybe Crocodile or Boa, but that depends on how much of a buff Oda will give them. They do have 1.9 bill and 1.6 bill bounties and we haven't see a lot of Boa and have not seen a post-timeskip Crocodile yet. I do think that Katakuri will recieve a buff, when he comes back.

Than King was man handalling post- rooftop Zoro, until Zoro took control of his Haki. And Katakuri can't damage King anyway. Sanji has high level Observation, superior durability, hax, speed, has healing. Only going off of Act 2 I would definitely call Queen a Kat victim, but in Act 3 he has clear scaling above the Rooftop 5 at the start of their battle (not including Enma Zoro). Oda also goes out of his way to portray King and Queen as relative as they fight alongside each other while both being suppressed and only reveal their true strength after Zoro and Sanji powered up against them. @@D.StrawhatSure I got you with some examples: Ch 925 - Jack is scared to disrespect King and Queen, King and Queen arent scared of each other Ch 970 - When highlighting the dangerous pirates that are subordinate to Kaido we see King and Queen, not highlighting one over the other Ch 997 - Zoro says neither route to the rooftop would be simple, another statement comparing the difficulty of King and Queen in battle Ch 1006 - Marco says holding off two guys worth over a billion berries is difficult, not highlighting one over the other as being much harder to fight Ch 1022 - King and Queen get hit by Zoro & Sanji who match their attacks and are both referred to as stars by Marco, donning them the same title. Later on King and Queen fought Zoro and Sanji, not revealing their ultimate power until their opponents powered up. i think the narrative is clearly showing us that King >= Queen by giving them a comparable bounty, position in their crew, perceived threat level from opponents, final opponent, and final battle.

@@D.Strawhat the point isnt about Queen beating King it’s about them rivaling each other in power. we see characters preparing to fight/fighting alongside each other that are relative all the time. Luffy&Zoro, Zoro&Sanji, LuffyZoro&Sanji, LuffyLaw&Kid, Law&Kid, Rooftop 5, Big Mom&Kaido, King&Queen, and Marco&Vista just to name them off the top of my head. Do you need any more examples?
