Project your voice when speaking without hurting your voice with these three easy steps.
If I offered to guide you through our system to release tension from the voice when speaking, get rid of pain and get you back to speaking on a daily basis with a strong voice that lasts all day long WITHOUT worrying about your voice AND WITHOUT spending valuable time on vocal exercises that don’t work, would you take me up on that offer?
I am now accepting applications to my signature coaching program, VOCAL FREEDOM SYSTEM FOR THE SPEAKING VOICE. I am only accepting people who can benefit from this program and community. Click the link below to apply to work with me

Excellent, commentary, Katrina! Thank you for talking about silent breaths. This promotes taking "concentrated breaths" (versus "loose breaths" such as when expanding your lungs) which connect deep in the body so that your breath can be small and available. Breathing is one of the most misunderstood aspects of vocal production. Please continue to address breathing, especially within the context of singing.

This is AWARENESS. I like your presentation. I have this issue with not being able to talk loudly enough (it seems), but for instance if I have to call at the driver from the back of the bus, I have always followed almost the exact process you describe, and hell, I have EVERYONE'S attention. But, it makes me self conscious. And I just can't be YELLING like that in a noisy conversation, it's way too loud. I've been thinking more about it lately, it confuses me. edit: I notice the pitch change/resonance change in your voice when you do the technique. It reminds me of the change I get in my voice, I have a very similar neck/jaw ratio to you which makes me feel redeemable! lol also, I have almost the same glasses frames :D :D

In the future pay more attention to correct microphone placement. Your lav is positioned extremely poorly. Even if it has an omni pickup pattern you are using the anterior portion with the primary pickup directed away from your mouth and towards a highly reflective room space. Thus more room sound and vocal reflectance is present when it could have been minimized with proper mic positioning, resulting in greater clarity in the recording. This is important to help improve legibility through your accent.

Thank you for this video. I enjoy your voice anyway, but whatever mic you are using 'rounds' the sound and makes it softer and more velvety - nice. Re the head lift up tip, yes, I feel the benefit of doing this to open the throat, however, I like to avert my eyes down a bit to be able to look at the person(s) so they don't think I'm talking to the clouds.
@healthyvoicetips
@healthyvoicetips 3 жыл бұрын
That is a very good point you are making. These three steps is just an exercise to explore this "set up" of the vocal tract. Eventually, you want to be able to achieve the same set up without lifting your head. But that requires training.

You may be doing everything fine but you lack kinesthetic awareness. If this is your first time doing this, you may feel nothing. It takes time to develop the ability to "feel" it.

The notes from the very bottom of your range will be naturally less audible because the vocal fold closure is not as efficient. But try lifting your chin slightly to improve vocal fold closure.

What about singing? Tilting back so far doesn't aim the voice at the audience
@healthyvoicetips
@healthyvoicetips 2 жыл бұрын
Tilting the head back is only a temporary prompt to find the sensation of the vocal tract set up. Once you know how it feels, you bring your head forward while maintaining the same internal set up. So, this video shows only the initial phase. But maybe you noticed that some performers "sing to the first balcony", which means that they are using this set up even during their performance.

@healthyvoicetips
@healthyvoicetips 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. This is just the first part in the whole series of exercises. Of course, I don't want you to walk around with a tilted head. But this is the best way to feel the sensations in the vocal tract, which are then transferred to a forward head position.

You are not alone. I suggest that you start with some resonance exercises, like humming to finetune the vocal tract to start learning how to project your voice. These exercises may be too challenging for you right now but good resonance exercise is a good start.
