I've listened to the official version so many times I know it inside and out. While I feel the official is better (which was why it was released) this is new and fresh to me and I'm loving it. Still in its own right a great song and fascinating to hear the artistic process in mid-flight.

Yeah, that's also the case for live versions of songs. You get used to listen to the original album tracks (with often very "polished" productions), but sometimes it's good to hear live or demo versions because it shows a new side for songs.

Del Palmer mixed this version long after the album version. It was always intended for the 12" single - not the album.

It always makes me chuckle,when the comparison is in reverse. I just discovered that this exists and think it absolutely wonderful. Though this may very well sound like sacrilege to some, I may prefer this Hounds of Love to the original. Don't get me wrong, the version most know is undoubtedly a masterpiece (as is the entire album). However, this sounds beautifully less refined, and in it there's a genuine urgency to the cadence of her voice that lends itself perfectly to the lyrics.

Before Katy Perry.....Kate Bush! I've never heard this version before but I love it! Her voice is so fierce in this version, her singing so raw; I can see why the "official" or "final" version made the album. But this version just tears the song apart❤️
