Not that it is a matter of competition, but Kate Liu just makes these pieces come alive so much more than anyone else (yes, I've listened to my share). The „Seasons” are so difficult to bring off; even Richter failed - by „failed” I mean staid, disinterested playing - in his „May” and „June” recordings. - How wonderful it would be to have those two months under the hands of Kate Liu, too - and, in addition, the shortest of them all, February!

I know these pieces by heart from childhood when I played them, since they were nice'n easy. These jokes were written in a hurry by Tschaikovsky to get a few bucks, and the publisher of Nouvellist, Nikolay Matveyevich Bernard, was constantly yelling -- We go to print with this month's issue and you did not send the next piece! Look how untidy they are written... No marks, no suggestions, bare notes... Nice, easy pieces? Kate make them so personal, so high quality, so moving... Waiting for the complete year of them. Thank you Kate... You gave me a chance to go "somewhere over the rainbow". God bless you, and do not overwork your hands... You are so precious and so needed to open us the gate to your kingdom of pure magic.

Her interpretation makes me think. And something feel very deep emotion. Her sound and express each tone, phrase everything is connected. This is also master-perform.
