Kate Liu plays this sonata as if all of its harmonic and rhythmic subtleties, as well as those of touch, had been conceived by SP with KL's playing in mind. This comment is not intended to disparage Gilels' - who premiered the piece - and Richter's recordings of it; Liu just renders this sonata in a manner that you want to listen to it again - and again. This sonata is a beast - and Kate Liu presents all the enticing beauty of it.
