Love me some B-52's The 4th album was called "Bouncing off the Satellites". It is one of their best. IMO btw it's R-E-M, not REM.

Not so underrated in Europe. In France they are very well known and we love them. They are part of the Rock anthology. It is an essential group of the 20th century that we must have in our record collection.

I remember seeing a video of John Lennon and Chuck Berry, with Yoko off to the side screaming weirdly into a microphone. Has anyone seen it? All of the comments on Yoko with the microphone were negative. Having been a big B-52s fan as a youngster, I left a comment saying that I thought Yoko was a little ahead of her time because her style reminded me of the B-52s. I'm just now seeing this, and hearing that John Lennon was a fan of the B-52s ....AND they inspired him to do the Double Fantasy album with Yoko?? My mind is blown!

CINDY had All the Edge. First, that Raucous, Sometimes Sweet/Sometimes Soulful/Sometimes Silly VOICE. CINDY wore the Most Artistic, Outrageous Costumes and, FINALLY---CINDY danced her ass off on Stage! KATE was more Outgoing.

Cindy was undoubtely the sweetest thing at their debut, notably with these eyes of hers.... But Kate grew in beauty and style so much, and was an unmistakable plus to the band with her voice, look and keyboards. Kate was truely the one from planet Claire.

There was no so-called LGBTQ+ politics or culture when the B-52's became popular in the late 70's/early 80's. There definitely was an ascending gay/lesbian culture but not anywhere near to the political degree that we see today. As I recall, B-52 members did not discuss their sexuality in interviews or on stage - which i saw them 5 times before 1983. I had a major crush on Cindy. I think I still do. So this video makes them appear to be like culture warriors for LGBTQ, which they were not. Maybe they are now, but back in 1980 it was just about having fun and going to see a great, unique punk-ish kind of band do their thing like no other band at the time.

Nice presentation! AI is sorta like computer cartoons, in a way, right? Updated newspaper art and editorial satire of pols. anyways... I always thought that Yoko Ono's influence in Kate's repertoire was ignored by the same crowd (critic's everywhere) that tried to ignore & perhaps deny Ono all along. I also like how they incorporated everyday household sounds into their art. They were also influenced greatly by the Beats and their literary art. I too belong to the Dead Beat Club.

Funny I never knew and don't want to know whos sleeping with who . The more attention you give it the more you get look what we have now 40 years later mainstream will have you believe 1/2 the world is queer when its maybe 2% . They were an amazing band that never gets old
