Thanks for uploading this. I love the B-52's. Such a breath of fresh air in a world that's gone batshit crazy! I became a fan around the 'Cosmic Thing' era. I was about 13/14 y.o., which was just as I was starting to find the style of music that I could relate to the most. I saw them live at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney in 1990, and they were great act. It's so sad about Ricky. It goes to show that nobody really escaped the huge impact that AIDS had on society in the 1980's. If it didn't hit you directly, there was always a friend (or a friend of a friend) that was affected by it, such was it's awful prevalence. It's a shame that the band are winding down their operations, but after 48 years (pretty much non-stop) as a band is a pretty incredible run! They will be missed. "-)

Im 64 & this band changed my life. A friend of mine saw them in 1980 or early 80s & the band played Hot Lava & the crowd went wild because Mt St Helens had just erupted & the B52's a.flying bomber fortress designed & manufactured in Seattle basically paid for the development of the 707 because NO BANK would loan Boeing the money needed for a commercial jet airliner. After several DeHaviland Comets ripped apart killing all passengers, banks didn't want Boeing to invest their money into new high tech jet transport for airlines. Save that for experimental military jets. So... The B52 was all Boeing had to survive on & managed to save $1-million and banked the future of the company on the 707 & suddenly the world got smaller for everyone & we are all very proud you chose that name for your band. Your music helped change Seattle from a Bing Crosby Jimmi Hendrex experience into a difficult to accept Alternative Music sound which led to a very successful Grunge Music scene which spread world wide. Make no mistake your music, hard to accept at first, just blew us away at its dynamic originality which helped make our music find its way. You all are genius. Your music is what music is supposed to be FUN. Trust me, many Microsoft employees retiring with millions of dollars worked long & hard hours building that company listening to the B52s Im sure even Jeff Bezos is a fan. In the high tech world you have to constantly be innovative & nothing like playing music from an innovation like the B62s to get the creativity flowing.

I was listening to some 60's Spy Surf Rock recently when out of the blue it hit me...Rock Lobster is a direct descendant of that genre of music! The use of the low E-A electric guitar strings for the basic underlying melody, heavy use of tremelo, same drum beat and tempo...and on and on.

I always find it fascinating that they did not start out as an actual intentional group and yet they had two of the most amazing female vocalists EVER, and a guy that was not a guitar god or a shredder but that genuinely had a unique sound and style and made great little riffs. most groups that have ever existed do not have either of those two things.
