My last job at a garden center I would plant up oh so many planters so I really enjoyed Kate talking with such excitement about the textures, the height, the plants need friends too! My Mom and I used to stop at this old man’s house on our way to my great aunts and we would buy the entire bucket of Glads he had for sale(he grew them himself) and we would gift them all to my great aunt-I will always remember that!

I am so jealous! Our nurseries here don't have a lot yet. Our last frost date is April 19. I did plant a bunch of brassicas in my greenstalks. I will probably have to cover them overnight at least once. Lots of onions and garlic planted.

I saw a picture of a propane tank covered in huge pink and white blossoms. The top circular part was painted green. Here’s a quote from the person who created it: “I used wall decals intended for a bathroom wall. It was a set of 22” - 25” flowers. The round decals creased a little applying to the curved surface but I just trimmed them off. It only took me about 20 minutes to apply.”

Gladiolas are definitely not an "old lady flower"! They have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid both in the garden & as a cut flower. I love making huge bouquets of glads, so much drama. In the garden glads glow during golden hour with the sun setting behind them, absolutely magical.

I am an old lady and I look at gladiolus and I think of funerals. When I am about to lose it during a funeral, I start counting the gladiolus in the arrangements. Obviously, not a favorite for me.

I really wish YT was around when my mom was, she would have LOVED watching you guys gardening. I inherited her property, there are peonies from the 80's in these gardens as well as many other plants. So fun to see you at Swanson's!! Seattle is my hometown, I'm still here just a few miles from where I grew up. Swanson's is one of the best garden centers in Seattle...it's just everything. I know they carry a FEW Proven Winners plants; not nearly ENOUGH!! A few small shrubs, a handful of colorful annuals. It really depends on when you get there, they're going to go FAST. So glad to see you pair up with a local, you hit the jackpot on this trip! Come again. 💚🤍 Come every year!

Know Swanson’s well. I was born and raised in Ballard and shopped at Swanson’s often. It is a wonderful nursery. So glad you were able to see it and share the experience on your video. This is a must-see venue in the fall and especially at Christmas time. It’s fabulous!

Wow, wouldn't it be wonderful if every nursery combined plants and a café! Even just coffee would be wonderful. I feel affirmed by Kate as I love Morning Light grass too.
