For those wondering she killed another Navy officer - an enlisted man beneath her in the chain of command - who she was having an affair with when he tried to end it to save his marriage. It was partially based on a true story of a military woman and the fallout of her affair minus the murder part.

It should never be racist or sexist to keep someone who is unfit from serving. Unfit means they are incapable of doing their duties and responsibilities. Given the opportunity? yes but if they fail, they fail and are gone.

True, and I would agree with you mostly, except there must be also a level playing field, otherwise people with historical advantage not only get to make the rules but get more advantage. Of course don't certify unfit pilots, and ensure women are not disadvantaged across any field. When there is actual, consistent equal treatment and opportunity, you see different results.

I heard that the wildfires in Canada were actually started due to a training program gone wrong. They were training a bunch of broads to be fire fighters because diversity...and something went horribly wrong and it got so out of control that's what causes the recent fires in Canada, and they've done everything they can go suppress it because it's embarrassing and it tells us what we all already know...women shouldn't be firefighters.

If I recall correctly, after the trial was over and she was found guilty, she tried to place the blame on the Navy for pushing her into a position or role that she wasn't competent to perform. She was right about that - in trying to create good press, the Navy moved too fast to get results. But I don't see what role that might have played in her affair, or her killing the man with whom she had an affair.

@ytafan4068
@ytafan4068 8 ай бұрын
I agree completely with the Landing Signals Officer. The point of the training is to train the pilots to be able to fly the fighter, regardless of the type. If the trainee can't operate the plane - take-off, fly, and land - then they're a liability at best, a risk at worst, and need to be reassigned to a different duty. If they don't like it, they can request a reassignment. Can they request a discharge from the service? I don't know about that, but if they won't accept a different assignment... I can appreciate wanting to make certain everyone gets equal opportunity and all that. However, if I'm the president of a company, I don't care if the person is gender-fluid, has multi-colored skin, and is part of a religion where instead of a Buddha statuette, they worship a head of lettuce. If the person is trained and qualified to do the job right the first time around without having me to hover over the person's shoulder to make certain the job gets done right, that's what most important. It's the same thing with the Landing Signals Officer. He followed the rules and regulations in judging her, and she made two major mistakes. She proved she wasn't capable of landing on a carrier at night. He would have been in the right to scrub her from the training, regardless of political pressure. I also liked how he made his position clear on things and basically got Ross off his back. He had nothing against women being pilots. He was against unqualified people, regardless of race, religion, or gender, being pilots.
@lordhawkeye
@lordhawkeye Жыл бұрын
Ross's attitude is exactly why unqualified women continued to hold positions of power when they are challenged. She instantly jumped to defense of the pilot, someone she was prosecuting for murder, even though she was told the pilot was given 4 (she "succeed" on her 6th try) extra additional kicks at the can in a career where failure means death.
@dietotaku
@dietotaku 10 ай бұрын
this whole narrative, your comment included, is a falsehood concocted by misogynists to justify their own shortcomings. women don't get free passes or unqualified promotions, if anything qualified women have to reach a level of extraordinary to even register on the patriarchy's radar. or do you believe we've never had a female president because there just haven't been any qualified women in the entire 250-year history of this country?
@antmagor
@antmagor 10 ай бұрын
No Ross’ attitude is why qualified women get to positions that they have earned. Your attitude is why unqualified women hold positions they haven’t earned. Because discriminatory institutions have a tendency to hire women who are unqualified, but will do as they’re told and stay in low-key positions. Misogynistic groups do this in order to satisfy the optics so that when they discriminate against qualified women, they can’t press charges against there would be employer because all they have to do is hold up the list of women they’ve hired and say, see how could we be discriminating. If powerful groups do not want an integrated staff they will find a way to get around the law. The defendant in this case is a perfect example. Military may have passed her, but they had no intention of using her I assure you.
