i adore kate winslet so much shes such a brilliant example of an exceptional actress. that mirror advice really struck me too cuz, maybe it was stupid of me to think so, but i'd always thought it was the right thing to do to practise in the mirror so ur more aware of what ur doing. but i do recognise im more distracted by myself if i look in the mirror rather than being in the character (cuz in real life u aint lookin in the mirror when u talk all the time are you xD i suppose u shouldnt when ur acting either) so im deffo gonna give that advice a go!

Kate is a true professional. I agree, it’s important to memorize your lines well without any preconceived expression, then you can react truthfully. I’ve been using the Dialogmaster Pro rehearsal app to lock in my lines, then I don’t have to focus on them during my performance. I’ve rehearsed them so well that my focus is only on what the other characters are giving me to react to. It’s making the preparation process so much easier. Thanks for uploading this ❤️

@@vorthora I think in light of your having a phootgraphic memory when you were younger, using Mind Palace memory training would suit you best. It involves associating items you want to remember with a particular "palace", filled with objects. Each object triggers your memory for a particular item. Look up Ron White, who has successfully used this technique for years. I don't know how old he is, but he looks over 50.

I was once told in an acting workshop that you shouldn’t deliberately start memorising lines the moment you get the material. First, you should read the material several times. Anywhere from 3-4 times to 10-15 times if time permits. In the course of this, you develop a deeper understanding of the character, motives, dialogue etc and when you understand more, you can memorise better. And even iffff you forget the lines, you are equipped with the knowledge to effectively improvise. Have tried this technique myself and it’s works well for me!
