Katelyn got me tuning into running for the first time this past week watching all her interviews and races…thus was excited to watch this race and I am a Florida Gator (congrats to Valby). Having watched a few of Katelyn’s Races and what she has achieved is quite miraculous and very impressive thus have become a new fan. Congratulations to Katelyn, Valby and all the other competitors for achieving a healthy lifestyle and thanks for getting me excited about running. I look forward to watching what the future holds for Katelyn and will be tuning in closely. Congrats again to all the runners!

Same here, not a runner, never been but youtube for some reason started throwing vlogs about Katelyn at me and I got interested. Went down to the ACC championships to watch her run (and do a little hiking) It's mesmerizing watching the mechanics of someone running that well - she set the course record there too, funny that she didn't know until this interview that she had smashed the CR here - On a humorous side, that same strand of hair was sticking out sideways in that interview also. Maybe see if I can't catch her at an ACC event at my alma mater VT sometime this coming spring.

That was a great reaction! Last spring at a track event, a girl on our son's high school team set a new record in a distance event for that particular track. I was standing near a bunch of the kids when she came running down with the news to tell her teammates. Pretty special moment, they were all hugging her and about all she could get out of her mouth was "I am so happy!" It was one of the most pure moments of joy I can remember seeing.

Such a Classy woman and runner......I am glad that she agreed with my thoughts on other channels that for a little bit she thought Valby was too far ahead....... But something clicks in her and she is off!!! It is actually very amazing to watch. In Her interviews she is always thinking of her teammates more than what she just did herself...... That is a commendable trait instilled in her most likely from her upbringing, etc. She already is a super role model to many to come!

She is everything you could possibly want in an athlete and as a person. She seems to care more about her team winning then she does about herself winning, which in today’s “me” culture is very rare indeed. The first time I saw her run was just by chance. It was when she set the high school 5,000 meter indoor record which also was the 4th fastest 5K time in the world and I’ve followed her ever since. Over time I’ve seen so many high school phenoms completely flame out by the time they hit college, but she certainly isn’t one of them. She just gets better and better. I think she’ll be around for a long time to come. Terrific runner, terrific person. That’s really all you need to say about her.

Coach Henes is a perfectionist who preaches that 'perfect' is the enemy of 'good enough'. I think it's CRAY-ZEE when she says they didn't really nail any of their races this season. What I think she means is, they did have to go to a tie-breaker to win Nuttycombe (right?) and they seemed to always to be looking for that 5th finisher, who was different, I think, every race. Kinda great to have that much depth, and that much commitment. Also, if you're looking for tight spreads, it's hard when your 1-2 consistently finish 1-2.

I wonder why Katelyn reacted the way she did to the question at 2:30 about how she felt on the last hill? I think it was Kevin Sully with FloTrack who asked the question. Katelyn seemed visibly upset with something to do with that question, or the person asking the question. I think he asked a question again at 3:58, and then Katelyn immediately turned to her coach before he even finished asking the question and whispered something. Then, if you go to FloTrack's interview with Coach Henes from this same post-race interview, you will see later in this same interview where Katelyn crosses to the other side of Coach Henes, and then whispers something to one of her teammates and then looks right at the camera and sort of points her arm at the person holding the camera as if she was pointing out the FloTrack person (Kevin) to that teammate.
@JF-dy2dr Жыл бұрын
Flotrack did the piece prerace on who was the only runner who mattered, and the team did not think that was appropriate. Going back several years Milesplit (which is affiliated with Flotrack) took a little shot at Tuohy as well. Anything for clicks it seems. I'm not surprised she remembered and reacted. She certainly responded with more enthusiasm to all other questioners.

I just want to point something out as an FYI. The man who finished in last place, 252nd place (there were 3 DNFs which don't count), his 5.93k split was 18:49, meaning he finished 6K in less than 19 minutes. Katlyn Touey won the women's 6K race with a time of 19:27. So the absolute last place man would have won the women's race by 30 seconds. I am all for equality, but the people who say women are equally as strong as men are just delusional. This is also the reason why biological men who compete is women's sports as trans is just not fair. Plenty of these guys are shorter than the tallest women, it has nothing to do with height, it's the biological difference between a man and a women. You can't hate on this comment because it's just facts.
@Thespecialone19702 жыл бұрын

@jrtodd-br4zc2 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to say you are for equality because it’s obvious in your comment that it is equality that you care about. Because your comment was factual and contained no vitriol. Good on you for that. The push for trans women competing with these biological women is built on inequality. Like you said, that’s purely factual. It’s not born of hate, BUT it is important to point out there are people that DO mask their hate for trans individuals in comments like yours. To me, it was pretty clear you weren’t doing that, it we should also acknowledge that does also happen and that’s unfortunate
