To all those who have commented about the cart that is following the runners. It is not gasoline powered it is propane powered. a lot of your forklifts used in warehouses are powered by the same type of engines because they emit very little CO2. When operating outside there is no danger. People also use propane for there stoves inside. Finally electric carts are a great idea but they are terrible on steep incline especially if wet or muddy.

I have been a runner for al most 60 years. My siblings and kids were runners and some still are. It saddens me greatly - and gets me angry - to see these XC races where GAS_POWERED carts are right in front of these women. So they are constantly running in to the exhaust cloud. What a horrible irony that this is done - as these women train so well and take such good care of their bodies for running and then the idiots in charge of these races puts gas fumes right in their faces. Yet we live in a world where Tesla is a well known name. And golf carts of all types abound. This is a crime against humanity and it must stop. If I were ever to run in a XC or road race and found myself with gas-power vehicles in front, I would either quit or temporarily stop to get away. My health - my damn lungs are more important than the "need" for front-runner video. This is the epitome of irony that we have usually overweight or at least out-of-shape people riding in gas-powered vehicles video-taping outstanding athletes - and pushing fumes into their lungs as though it is "just a cost of doing business."
