That's definitely something that I can put in the queue! Kaalia is an amazing commander and has definitely received a ton of epic angels, demons, and dragons since 2011 as well as other supporting cards.

If I were to play a keyword deck I would use Rayami since it is blue but I think this is a cool deck. I think discard is more reliable than self mill (I have found this with Sevinne of course) and really like that you went that route. I think the big downside of discard is that it's much slower than self mill.

Yeah, I agree, discard is the best way to go even though it can be slower. But I feel the pros outweigh the cons. As for keywords, I prefer Rayami, too. That's why Rayami is the only legend from that precon that I did a deck tech on kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXuqZ2yViN53raM Rayami was my favorite one from it.

Thanks for the video! As a budget suggestion, plated crusher is the same as carnage tyrant except it is one green more and does not have the “can’t be countered” clause. But it is less than a dollar...

Nice, brewing Kathril on my own at the moment :D I always wanted to build a voltron Rayami deck, but without white there is literally no source of Doublestrike on a creature :D Kathril is my favorite of the new commanders

Thanks! Rayami is still good even if you can't give double strike via creatures since you can give double strike with equipment. Besides, it works even if you exile opponents' creatures. @@TheCommanderTavern yeah already watched it :D all your Rayami was missing in my opinion was "Harbinger of Spring", with a fe exceptions, it's basically unblockable from there on :D For Kathril you maybe should try another discard outlet for Wild Mongrel, either Tireless Tribe with less cmc, or Lotleth Troll. The Troll get's bigger with discarding through counters (more synergy in this deck) and has trample (even more synergy). But can only discard creature cards, which isn't a problem in this deck :) Also the interaction between Kathril and Winding constrictor is just too good not to play. With Winding Constrictor out, it's still Kathril putting the Keywordcounters twice (which doesn't help because they are on the same creature) BUT Kathril get's double +1/+1 counters then, which is great for Voltron

Lotleth Troll is definitely a great discard outlet that synergizes greatly with the deck so it's definitely worth a slot. Winding Constrictor is still a good suggestion regardless because it doubles +1/+1 counters, too. And the keyword counters can be moved later on, as well. Harbinger of Spring is definitely a great include for Rayami since it does provide nigh unblockability.

Thanks! I totally agree. Discarding over self-milling is the way to go with Kathril since you don't want everything in your graveyard, just a couple of select creatures.

It's definitely a good card in Sidisi since you're essentially trading creatures in the graveyard for your hand in case you self-mill something important or if you're about to reanimate then you can send something better to the graveyard instead.

I brewed a kathril deck full of cycling and evoke creature, he became big really fast but he hasn't a lot of keyword, i will swap some card for the creatures that you showed. Great video

Fabio Armaroli Cycling and evoke isn’t a bad idea but unfortunately it’s not as efficient at maximizing the counters Kathril can get. So I’m glad I was able to inspire you to improve upon your deck!

Thanks! I've played it on Cockatrice and it's definitely a beast. It's not a high-powered deck, since voltron does have its limitations in high-powered pods, but it's definitely a forced to be reckoned with in semi-competitive pods.

Verto Trueborn Ooh!! Undertaker is an amazing suggestion! It definitely allows for some interesting plays for sure. It’s a shame it’s like Fauna Shaman and needs to be tapped to be activated.

Will need testing since your inclusion of Fauna Shamen made me think about Undertaker in the first place. The old saying should hold true tho: 2 Fauna Shamens >1 Fauna Shamen

It works, but it's VERY mana intensive, especially since you have to dig deep in order to get that fatty in your hand. You'd need some topdeck manipulation to really make it shine in the deck.

I was actually considering a Cromat deck with the best mutate cards. It's still in the idea phase; I haven't gotten around to it because I had been so busy with IKO and C20 plus now M21 spoiler season has begun. I also have a couple of deck requests on queue. But since Cromat was something I already had in mind to brew, it's definitely something I can add to the queue :)

That's very nice and all, but... what's the budget?

I don't put the budget on my deck techs because prices can radically change over small period of time. I also don't build "budget" decks because plenty of channels do that already. That being said, removing the most expensive cards in the deck (with the following swaps): 5 enemy fetches -> 5 basics Ancient Tomb -> Bountiful Promenade Mana Crypt -> Prismatic Lens Survival of the Fittest -> Tortured Existence Three Visits -> Mind Stone Bloom Tender -> Faeburrow Elder Avacyn, Angel of Hope -> Make a Stand Reduces the cost of the deck by almost $1,200. So with those budget swaps the deck comes out to about $650 (as of today's date). So if you're not building this on MTGO nor have all of the most expensive pieces already, you can just make those budget swaps and that would be it's present-day price.

I know! I'm very adamant against the Reserved List. WotC "doesn't acknowledge the secondary market" but when collectors were up in arms with Chronicles, they put a bunch of cards on the list of never to be reprinted. Which isn't fair for players who want the cards to play the game. Worse than that, is that WotC continued to put more cards on the Reserved List until the Urza block. Had the dual lands been reprinted in 4th edition and/or Chronicles, they wouldn't be so expensive. Even the situation with fetchlands is ridiculous. A lot of fetchlands are now more expensive than some dual lands.

Bong Zong Panharmonicon is definitely a great way to give out even more keyword counters. Had I more creatures with enter-the-battlefield triggers I would’ve included it in the deck no problem.

@@TheCommanderTavern you just need 1 creatures in Play, for example Kunoros and Panharmonicon. When you cast it, you put for example 4 Counters on Kunoros, 4 on Kathril and 8 Times +1/+1 on Kathril. Iam Testing it right now, but did not draw panha once. XD

@@bongzong9824 You have to be careful when running Kunoros since it doesn't allow creature cards in graveyards to enter the battlefield, so it nullifies the reanimation strategies of the deck.

Tayam is definitely an interesting commander and I got it for my commander cube. I think the reason why it's not as popular is because self-mill is easier to accomplish with blue instead of white. So Tasigur and Sidisi are still king and queen of self-mill. That being said, Tayam is still a great commander since it gives vigilance that stays even if Tayam leaves the battlefield.

@@crovax1375 Tayam is mostly a combo enabler, but the loops it enables are a bit harder to accomplish than usual. It's still pretty good as a commander.

I think I saw some people talk about using undying/persist and removing those counters since Tayam says any counters from creatures. With a sac outlet and mana you go infinite.
