The first time I heard this song was by the 79 year old tenor Robert White (American, born Irish). I remembered the song and the voice ever since and now I heard the 2nd version, by Kathryn Rudge. Absolutely fantastic. It can hardly be done better and so James Baillieu, so devoted! For both: what a valuable document for later ! Thank you so much, Best regards from the Netherlands.

Yes, I have loved Robert White singing this and many songs but Kathryn Rudge is a lovely singer too. I have her cd. Thank you for this. It is good to actually see her.🙏🇬🇧

Wonderful singing. But I prefer the original lyric. Ridge sings “through the hours of day”. The original lyric is “though the hours of day”.

I think that Rudge sings: “Love through the hours of day / Sadness of heart may bring”. I did not hear her sing “Love though through the hours of day / Sadness of heart may bring”. Most other singers sing “Love, though the hours of day / Sadness of heart may bring”.
