The sweet inspiration said that he was joking around with them when he mentioned the catfish. Elvis and Kathy were close friends to the end of his life. I read in one of the books that he asked her to come to his suite during one of his last concert because he didn’t feel well and didn’t want to be alone. So, they spent the night talking, no romance just good friendship. He mentioned to her that he felt that he is approaching to the end and asked her if she would wear a white attire for his funeral. She promised him that and she kept her promise. The bottom line, people who knew Elvis knew his jokes and sarcasm, they knew his generosity and big heart. It is what it is. Or, I could say, it was what it was. They loved him the way he was. What it is not to love about that man. He was an open book. 💕🙏 May his soul rest in eternal peace until we meet again 🙏💕

Yes, Elvis was a puzzle certainly. I guess we can only speculate all the reasons for Elvis’s actions. I’m not making excuses for him, but my thoughts are that he was not in a good place at that time. Taking into account how generous and kind he was normally, I think it was the combination of the medication, frustration with his career, and from what I’ve read, must have been excruciating pain from the myriad of health problems he had. As someone said, we all blurt out things for different reasons and then regret it. Only with Elvis being such a big public figure everything he said and did was and is still being scrutinized. I still feel love him and his admirable qualities and sadness for any suffering and frustration he may have been going through at that time. Love your channel, and always look forward to seeing new posts from you. God Bless!😊

He was on a constant in take of uppers n downers! The true Elvis from the heart in those last few years were just fleeting moments in between the two. Those close to him in private were the only ones blessed to be present & really know true words. He was a true saint that was sacrificed by greed. So whatever he said on stage I take with a grain of salt thrown over my shoulder.

I think Elvis was very immature emotionally, probably due to his meteoric success at barely 20 years old he never had time to actually mature and grow. The whole singing "No, not much" during suspicious minds aimed at Priscilla also says this, I think his ego just could not take it. Kathy probably called a halt to things and this lead to these comments being made publicly. Essentially he was a boy all of his life, this also explains why he was never able to stand up to the Colonel and he surrounded himself with the entourage.

Elvis was probably jealous or he was joking. Elvis spent at least one third of the time talking on stage. This was the first I'm hearing him as disrespectful to the girls or band in 67 years. Only once in 67 years, hearing rudeness from Elvis? I don't know anyone who could pass a test like that, even 10 times. I don't know much about Kathy Westmoreland. I forgot her book but I do know a lot about the sweet inspirations and they loved him and called him an Angel till the end and even now, the last one. Who cares what he said one night? That was Elvis. He joked including the fans. He pranked. He annoyed. He laughed. He could be silly or sexy. That's what made him fun and one of us. We were all in on it....whatever "it" was at the moment. 💕👑🎸

I guess Elvis was on drugs all of those times he thought it was O.K. to take powerful handguns and shoot up his hotel rooms! He very nearly shot one of his girlfriends during one of these childish, reckless incidents. Elvis fanatics seem to not be able to separate the entertainer from the person. They act like Elvis was 'too good' for this world, and that he was some kind of a 'great man'. Elvis was a great entertainer and I greatly enjoyed the two concerts of his that I attended, but as an adult man, he left a great deal to be desired. He treated his wife like crap, he pushed HIS religious beliefs on those around him, yet he himself was a promiscuous womanizer. He binged on food and drugs to the point that it killed him, so that kind of out of control behavior clearly showed him to be a very immature individual.

@@philiphatfield5666 I disagree Elvis PUSHED his religious beliefs on others. He publicly EXPRESSED his religious beliefs. We all express what we believe, or at least we have every right to. He forced them on no one. Drugs and boredom definitely made Elvis do things he would not have done otherwise. If someone gets hurt or offended by your having "fun" it isn't right It would've been bad to say even in private. But he said it for the whole world to hear. I am and have been an Elvis fan all my life. But I did not approve of this. It may have served Elvis right if his whole band had walked off stage leaving him standing there alone. Part of Elvis's whole problem was everyone around him being far too loyal....even when behaved badly. I wonder if he may have said those things for no other reason but to test their loyalty. But personally, I think it was the drugs along with boredom. Good for them walking off the stage. I'll bet those comments stopped after that.

Firstly i as millions of others love Elvis, saying that his words were out of order. If someone had said something like that about Lisa or his mother Glady,s ( rip 🙏🏼) he would have gone crazy. Not many people in the audience laughed seeing how many were present. The thing is Elvis said what he wanted did what he wanted etc. Someone should have stepped in and say that wasn,t cool. We all mistakes myself included, but you asked our opinion and this is mine. Elvis will always be remembered for his amazing voice and his generosity and kindness towards others, but no this was not cool even if he did suffer from the green eyed monster. He didn,t want Kathy but no one else was going to have her either, she didn,t rise to it, so he tried to humiliate her on stage and passed it as a joke. I completely agree with you. If I'm not mistaken the very nasty comments about Kathy and Sweet Inspiration happened in the same show, in fact both Kathy and Sweet left the stage leaving Myrna alone. There was in an interview of Diana Goodman, his girlfriend at the time, present in the audience and in her opinion it was not "professional" of Kathy and the Sweets to leave the stage. (In my opinion they did very well because was Elvis or anyone else, respect must never be lacking). In fact in the following days Elvis probably understood that he had exaggerated and gave gifts all of them to make up for it, another flaw of Elvis seems to be have been that he wouldn't be able to say "sorry", he was used to do it by giving gifts .... instead sometimes it's better hear a sincere apology than receiving gifts, but this the way he was...... Regarding this particular fact, I think that at the beginning he thought he was joking and when he realized he was offending those girls , in order not to "admit" the wrong behavior, he reinforced the dose by repeating what he had already said worsening the situation. I think that anyone can make a mistake and out of pride not want to admit it, also, we all know that he was very proud and he was "human" like all of us, and while not justifying him for this rudeness, we love him, perhaps even more, just for his "being human".

Thank you for these videos. Yes, it's a bit shocking to know he behaved like this on stage. I've read a few accounts of his jealousy, (I think Jerry Schilling is open about it), so I think that plus his declining physical condition, (i.e., increased drug dependency), are the reasons for the bad behavior. I am an Elvis fan -- love listening to his music, so his personal shortcomings don't distract me from his immense talents. I'm pretty sure at this point in his life he was struggling; even his closest friends/families were unaware of how ill he was. I was 17 years old when he died and I thought he was very old. Today, I have a much different perspective -- we lost him far too early. A tremendous tragedy for his fans, but more importantly his friends, his father, and his much loved daughter.

I guess, I am interpreting what he said a little differently. From late 1973 until his death, there was a change in his voice. I have described it before as, "angry". During the same time period, the band introductions became longer. His interactions with his fans changed as well. A while back you posted a video of Elvis on the tarmac, where his bodyguards were trying to keep his interaction with the crowd to a minimum, and it was clear Elvis was agitated, and it appeared he might have been on some meds. The two major things in his life at the time were the divorce, and he wasn't going on any world tour. Linda Thompson and others have said his drug abuse escalated around this time as well..The only time he sounds, and acts like his "old Self" is right after he spent time in a hospital to detox in early 1976. I believe you have played an audio sample of that concert, where he tells the audience he just got out of the hospital. His vocals were on par with the Satellite concert. The angry agitated voice was gone. A short time later it was back again. As time went on, I think he got less concerned about what people thought, and his venting on stage became more frequent. I believe it is quite normal for a person in the physical, and mental condition he was in to act out. Especially from someone used to getting his way for 20 years. I don't think there was a movie made about him that didn't point out his bad temper. He was human, like us all. The only difference with Elvis was some of that bad behavior was recorded. As far as the recordings, in the second one he says, "Affection you fool." I think he was just joking, but just didn't care if others took it wrong. Elvis stopped caring about himself, what do you expect? He was human. God Bless Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie, Benjamin, and this channel...

In hindsight we the world... have become too sensitive.. and we read too much into things. Maybe he was upset with Kathy.. and it may have been a dig.. but it was taken as a joke.. by the audience.. and only he knows how he meant it. The cat fish comment aimed at the Sweet Inspirations was also a light hearted joke.. that in hindsight seems bad.. but it was an awkward joke. He did joking banter with everyone on stage... and in most cases.. it was funny and hilarious. Let's not pull Elvis apart and make him look bad.. over a few comments he made in humor. He was a good man and he loved everyone who toured with him and treated them like family and took good care of them... and they loved him.

Elvis clearly had some mental health problems and sadly too had addictions. It's easier to say these things in retrospect and through the lens of today where there is less stigma. What remains the same regardless of time periods is that those two things often go hand in hand. Without going into too much detail, I used to be wild. I had a lot of problems. Alcohol, painkillers and bad habits all snowballing from a traumatic death of someone close to me. In my thirties now and sober for five years I feel somewhat able to offer some (or just my own) perspective on this video. These issues can change people in so many ways and for so many reasons. I look back at many things I said back then and I don't recognise myself. Inhibitions lowered? More likely to take a joke too far...hungover and physically suffering? More likely to lose your temper...I could go on and on. It's almost like a total rewiring of the brain that builds and grows steadily over time. I think now of things I once thought were funny. They're not really that funny... And it's not because I'm older or wiser. I'm in my thirties and mostly like a big kid. They just aren't funny to me now. My brain has rewired itself back... For the most part. This is all getting a bit too pseudosciencey here. I think really Elvis was clearly a very kind person, very generous and loved to laugh. Reading Kathy's stories about him now it is abundantly clear how fond she was of Elvis. It just seems to me like a throwaway inappropriate remark. I think of all the things i said at points in my life and I cringe. Now compare that to Elvis who lived his life constantly on display, being screamed at, grabbed, cameras flashing, film reels rolling, soundboards recording. We all make mistakes and they are part of who we are but they are not necessarily representative of who we really are. I would think if there were any upset, Elvis would have made it right with her. That sort of response seems more in line with Elvis's character and from all the stories we have heard or read about his life from the people who knew him...and certainly more indicitave of who he was than a regrettable remark here and there on stage that ended up caught on tape. Anyway...accidentally wrote an essay 😅. Enjoyed the video. Cheers. (Edited for my typos)

Thanks for the comment, I read the whole thing. I agree with what you said in that the pills he took messed with how he thought and therefore acted. Also, I can see how acting a different way in thinking a different way (like testosterone or steroids can do to a persons thinking) Can change around his brains rewiring it how he thinks and ask. The reason I made the video was because I used to clip in a prior video and thought it could use some clarification. I like you can see that Elvis was a good guy and just said the wrong thing. Anyway, onto the next video.

@@ElvisistheMan_ Absolutely I agree. This just sprang to mind and I wondered if it may be worthy of comment or if you have any knowledge to share on the topic...also feel free to ignore this as I'm not trying to tell you what videos to make! I've just always wondered...the famous live performance of It's Midnight where he says "listen Cilla!". It's kind of championed by fans as testimony to the great love he had for Priscilla. It's a great performance too...but! I swear I can hear Elvis also saying later in the song "you dirty little ___". It's tough to make out and I keep wondering if I am hearing things, does he say something else, what's the story on this etc. Couldn't find much online about it when I looked. Anyway just thought I'd throw it into the ring to do with or not do as you please. Ciao for now.

People are reading waaaay too far into this I believe. If you're anyone who's an ELVIS fan you'd know he's not perfect. I put ELVIS on a pedestal myself but at the same time know that he's a human being with faults and weaknesses just like the rest of us. There are at least a few recordings of ELVIS ranting on stage and (to me) it's the obvious effects of drug abuse and perhaps exhaustion too because when you dont sleep well the "insulation" on your nerves starts to wear away and that in of itself can cause unstable behavior and with a mix of drugs it can compound the problem. I still absolutely adore the man. Expectations lead to disappointment. 🇺🇲 🦅 🌟 👑 *T⚡️C⚡️B* 👑 🌟 🦅 🇺🇲.

I think Elvis was pilled up, mad at Ms. Westmoreland and “gave her the gears”, to make fun of or whatever. He was running on pills and some mad emotion for some reason. Elvis could say anything and everybody laughs.. and he could say and do anything he wanted.. and if you I didn’t like it… and said something, you’d get fired. So, Elvis was human and possibly slipped on occasion like we all do. But I honk this was meant to be rude, and rude it was. Sometimes, Elvis wasn’t the nicest person. He slept with Jerry Shillings gf, whom Jerry really liked. Bad on Elvis. And if you believe the Stanley Book, he slept with Billy Stanley’s wife too. Elvis oil what he wanted. If Elvis wasn’t Elvis… Jerry would never forgive E for that in my opinion… as I breaks all the rules relative to ‘bro/buddy’ etc. He also couldn’t say he was sorry. I think of all he books and interviewed it may be documented 2 or 3 times, that is it. He’d buy you things instead. Another flaw. Anyway, Elvis wasn’t perfect and we must accept that.

I believe I can shed some light (or maybe I'm repeating info from a previous comment) . I read Elvis had an argument with Linda (or the other GF) and sent her home. Elvis didn't want to spend the night alone (as usual) and asked Kathy to spend the night with him. Kathy (in her book, I believe) said she had a new boy friend at the time who wouldn't have understood. Elvis (who was not used to hearing "no" from women 😆) was hurt and thus the comment. And yes, Elvis was not well emotionally (the drugs were part of it) and he apologized to Kathy and all of the backup singers for the jokes. He had an extreme sense of humour, anyway, and took it too far. Kathy and the others said they forgave him. Not a big deal

I'm just not offended by the Kathy W. comment, "This woman will show affection anywhere, in fact she gets it from the whole band. Affection ya' fools." For me, this was just a "joke." He even cleaned it up when he said, "Affection ya' fools." The audience was not shocked, but found it funny. Maybe she should have quipped back, "You should know, I gave it to you first!" I wonder how he would have liked that? Maybe she should have said, "No" instead of crawling into bed with him. Myrna said, that EP and her would flirt, but she decided that when you work for somebody, it's better not to go down that road. He's always been possessive. Maybe it comes from being an only child and/or his southern background. Did she ever confront him about either of these things? I think the "catfish" comment is more concerning. I don't think it was done with any racial intentions on his part and, if Myrna thought so, I think she would have left. I'm sure it made her "uncomfortable." This is a much more "sensitive" topic and he knew that. If they joked around like this off stage, that's where it should have stayed for the sake of both parties. Ultimately, he apologized to all parties. f I had to attribute this behavior to anything, I would say it was the meds.

I believe drugs and boredom made Elvis do things he would not have done otherwise. He may have meant only having fun. But if someone gets hurt or offended by your "fun" it's inappropriate. It would've been bad to say even in private. But he said it for the whole world to hear. I am and have been an Elvis fan all my life, but I did not approve of this. It may have served Elvis right if the whole band had walked off stage leaving him standing there alone. Part of Elvis's whole problem was everyone around him being FAR TOO LOYAL....even when he behaved badly. He may have said those things for no other reason but to test their loyalty. But personally, I think it was the drugs along with boredom. Good for them walking off the stage. I'll bet those kinds of comments stopped after that.
