I've been a KISS fan since the 70's! Gene Simmons is the definition of the American dream. His mother was a Hungarian jew who survived the Nazi concentration camps. She served in the Israeli Defense Force when Isreal was founded. When Gene was six the two of them moved to New York with no money and not knowing the language. Now he is one of the founding members of one of the most successful and influential rock bands in history, has more money than god, a successful business man, married to a former Playboy playmaye of the year, speaks a few languages, and raised two kids who seem to be very stable unlike other rock stars kids. 🤘

I've seen Kiss numerous times over the years The 1st time was on Jan. 18th, 1975 at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, CA. I was stationed at an Air Force Base about an hour from San Bernardino and had just been discharged in July. I went to the show with 2 of the airmen I worked with. The headliner was ZZ TOP and Kiss was the opening band. Needless to say that neither of us had heard of or seen Kiss. While ZZ Top was great, it was the sound and visual of Kiss that we talked about for days. The next day I went to the local record chain to see if they had their new album but they hadn't received it yet. I've been on a musical journey and have seen numerous shows (especially in Hollywood), and concerts since the first rock band I saw in person - REO Speedwagon at one my high school dances. They were students at the Univ. of Illinois at the time. I'm 72 and have seen many, many shows over the years.

Kiss was actually one of the concerts I saw in the 70's. It was before the release of their 2nd album at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino. They would take you whole ticket at the gate but after that concert they started tearing and giving you half back. The audience was more "Alive" Then I had ever seen it. A couple of weeks later it came out that one of the security guards was arrested for reselling tickets. . They found out when his wife, while suing him for divorce, asked for half the money he made from reselling the tickets.

Mentioned before, I have been a KISS fan since 1974, seen at least one show on every U.S. Tour... a total of 70 regular concerts as well as several other performances. One of the HARDEST KISS songs is during their non-makeup years... off the album "Revenge"... UNHOLY! My favorite "Gene song".

So a little context on the whole blood spitting, fire breathing, and just the general look of Gene’s makeup. Gene is actually the biggest nerd of all nerds out there. In that, as a kid he was fascinated by the classic universal monster movies, Dracula, the Wolf man, etc, as well as being a huge Marvel comics and Godzilla fan as a kid, so his makeup is an amalgamation of all those larger than life characters he was enamored with as a kid. Hence, the demon .. or the monster.. his tongue is just naturally long, he didn’t have anything done to it. With the makeup being Dracula/Black Bolt inspired he just stuck his tongue out and it fit the look and he’s been doing it ever since. In the past all the Bible thumpers pointed to him as being a devil worshiper , and all kinds of silliness, and nothing could be further from the truth. He was such a Lon Chaney fan, he even wrote a song about him called man of 1000 faces.

I've had the pleasure of seeing them 5 times. They're just an average band, BUT their shows are 2nd to none. I went to their farewell tour, right in front of confetti cannons, what a blast we had. Gene with the blood and the fire, Paul with his stage presence. The other 2 have been switched around over the years. Gene is an Israeli born Jew, so fun he plays a demon. Aldo, he's a shrewd marketer. Search KISS items on any marketplace, you'll be amazed in what they receive money from.

I got to see KISS in 2000 on the farewell tour it was the last time the original four guys toured together. it was an amazing show. Revenge is prolly KISS' heaviest album you should check out the song Unholy

Kiss' 2003 performance in Australia w/ the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was recorded for the 'Alive IV' album... At that time, Kiss was also slated to do a major US tour w/ Aerosmith. However, the stipulation was that 3 members of Kiss had to be original members... In 2002, Ace Frehley (lead guitar) was out of the band, struggling (once again) w/ drugs and alcohol... And Peter Criss (drums) was out of the band in 2001 after refusing to sign a new contract. Ace was unwilling to come back to Kiss in '03, so Peter Criss (drums) rejoined Kiss for the Kiss Symphony performances and the Aerosmith tour w/ Paul Stanley (vocals/ guitar) and Gene Simmons (vocals/ bass) ... Ace Frehley was replaced by Tommy Thayer (lead guitar) However, Peter Criss was clearly not in the frame of mind to stay on after clashes w/ Paul and Gene... Eric Singer (drums), who had joined Kiss in 1992 (in their non-makeup era) and replaced Peter Criss on tour in 2001, rejoined Kiss in 2004 and that was the band until 2023. There were rumors about Gene Simmons' tongue dating back to the 70's... but his tongue is real... His son Nick Simmons has the same elongated tongue 😝 "God of Thunder" was released in 1976 on the 'Destroyer' album by Kiss... Although Gene Simmons sang it and it became one of his signature Kiss songs... the track was written by Paul Stanley... Apparently, Paul was always competing w/ Gene creatively and wanted to show him that he could write a song in the style of Gene Simmons' songs... The album's producer Bob Ezrin loved the track and decided that Gene would sing it. Paul Stanley was not happy w/ that decision, he revealed recently... but he admitted it was the right move... “In hindsight, it couldn't have been a better move,” he said. “It's such a character-defining song for Gene, and he did it so great. Sometimes you're lucky to be wrong.” From the start of Kiss, Gene and Paul were always competing for getting attention onstage... Paul won the role of Kiss frontman - he was better suited to talk to the audience between songs and lead them in concerts... Gene was picked to play the role of blood-spitting demon onstage, which fitted his makeup character... The band's original manager Bill Aucoin was a TV producer and he helped integrate showbiz theatrics into Kiss' live shows... One day, Aucoin introduced a fire-breather to the band and asked who in the band wanted to learn to breathe fire onstage... and Paul, Ace and Peter all stepped back 😂 So, Gene had to learn how to breathe fire and it became a highlight of Kiss concerts to see Gene Simmons end the Kiss song 'Firehouse' by emerging w/ a flaming sword and blow out a fireball 🔥as fire engine sirens were going off... Gene had burnt his hair on occasion because his hair product was flammable 😬 Gene did the fire breathing during the non-makeup era of Kiss as well.

Gene Simmons was/is very fond of "theatrics", in his stage personna. His use of the fake blood and spitting fire was all part of his "act" to make his character more aggressive. He really liked to hear the audience cheer for him, it was good for his ego. "God Of Thunder" was his big solo moment.

Very good reaction I think the only way to catch them is LIVE as for my Thought's only. I have also seen them about 5 times 2 times when Eric Carr during the Hot in the Shade tour, also Erik Singer from the Revenge tour and then Finally Peter Criss 3 other times REUNION , FAREWELL Tour along with ACE and then the PSYCHO CIRCUS 3 D tour and it would have been great to be at the concert for the ALIVE 4 but it was filmed in the land Down Under Australia with the SYMPHONY with the members dressed in make up as you just watched the video.
