Gene doesn't use blood caplets but uses a combination of ingredients to get the consistency of blood, the main ingredent is yogurt & uses red food coloring. The way he gets his tounge so red when he first comes out on stage is red life savors. I've seen Kiss live around 20 times since the mid 80's but have been a member of the KISS army since 1976 when I convinced my parents to get me Kiss Alive for Christmas and I was only 10 years old. I have been a musician since 1978 when I started learning how to play guitar and Because of Ace my favorite guitars to play still to this day are Gibson Les Pauls.

I did read an interview he did & he explained what he used. He might use the stage blood now but was that available in the 70's when he started doing his blood gag?

I seem to remember that from an episode of "Gene Simmons:Family Jewels" where he and Sophie were supposed to jump into an Olympic sized pool, specifically the ones the competition divers use and Gene was leery about doing this

This video just blows the doors off any performance KISS ever did. Only one that might be close - their live performance from the Los Angeles Forum (Alive II) in 1977. He chews blood caplets . Gene stated, in a interview, that he can't stand heights either and doesn't like doing that stunt. That is why he has reduced how high he goes over the years.

Technically wasn’t a KISS Symphony Tour, it was just that one off show. Didn’t tour until August 2003 when Aerosmith and KISS went on the: World Domination Tour (KISS) Rocksimus Maximus Tour (Aerosmith)

The audio is so good because it was all added in post production. The show is dubbed. Notice how the cameras don't stay on any of them for more than 2 or 3 seconds to keep you from noticing the difference between their playing and the sound you hear.

A better version of this would be from either Tokyo.Japan 1977 or MSG Feb 18th 1977. That's when Gene was WAY more into his demon character and truly scary,evil and sinister looking/acting. The tempo of the song was played faster too.

Yep. The pace of the song was too slow. The orchestra took too much of the edge from it, and the meter is off here too. The best version, was the Kiss Alive Tour from the 77-78. This is when they had a huge stage with the rising drum set. In the beginning of this song, there was no m one on stage, but there were rocks and things, and a ton of fog, like a prehistoric scene. When Gene's bass started, red lights lit up the rocks in time with his bass. Then through all the fog from the fog machines, you could start to see Gene's head rising up. He was on a riser coming up from below the stage. Once he'd finished his intro, the drum kit rose up, then Paul and Ace. That was the show opener, with the blood, tons of pyrotechnics. way more than here. It was my first concert, and Blondie opened for them, in Charlotte NC. Fantastic show.
