Marko left the band about three years ago, citing mental health issues. He was replaced by Jukka Koskinen, the bassist from Wintersun. Jukka Nevalainen, the drummer in this video, stepped away from his position a couple of years before that due to chronic and severe insomnia. Jukka is still part of the Nightwish organization, but he's in a management role now. His replacement on drums is Kai Hahto, also from Wintersun. Let's just say that the Finnish music scene is a large, but close, family, always willing to help each other out!

Marko is a piece to the Nightwish puzzle that just can't be replaced, his voice was the perfect match for Floor's......I'm hoping the 2-3 year hiatus from touring is so that they can attempt to lure Marko back. I so want to see them in concert.

Behind the artist there is a man. In his own words, Marko was a starving musician before he joined Nightwish. They accomplished a lot together, 20 years is a very long time. Marko also always had a lot of other stuff besides Nightwish. Nightwish's operation is so huge these days (1½ year long world tours, crew usually over +50 people and all other stuff) that he wanted a change in life and make music on a slightly smaller scale. I went to his solo show last spring and it made me feel so happy because he looked energised, happy and healthy.

Marko left Nightwish in 2021 to take care of his mental health (depression) and some other reasons. Last year he came back to doing music (not to Nightwish) and, as much as I miss him in Nightwish, he made the right decision. He looks happier and healthier then in a long time. Tommy announced leaving Sabaton less then a month ago (though he didn't leave yet, he's leaving after us tour) and I believe he's doing the right thing, just like Marko

There is an interview he gave at the time stating the industry took advantage of them for little reward and he needed to take a step back. Can't blame him as they are as bad as Ticketmaster gouging fans for no ther reason than they can. Glad the US is taking a hard look at the monopoly they created and whether it needs to be broken up.

Donna is correct. Marko left Nighwish in 2020. He needed a break. He had been tour for around 35 years and needed some time off.

One of the songs that all 3 lead singers have sung. Floor has said it is one of the more challenging for her to sing. From the 2002 Century Child album, the 4th album and first one after Marko joined in 2001. The studio version didn't start out softer, that is a change they made when they took it live. Marko left 3 years ago now, for personal reasons. He wrote a letter, which is still posted on the band's website. The 'pipes' around Tuomas' keyboard stand, are a tribute to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, and are made to resemble the Sibelius monument in Helsinki.

Marko left in the early 2021. I met him in person on the the Summer 2021 in my hometown. We had a a nice little chat. Unfortunately he's not coming back to Nightwish. I've seen them live after Marko's leaving, and they are still doing just fine. ⛄👍

I REALLY wish he would come back. I love his voice, his music sense... And please don't get me wrong, I LOVE FLOOR, but the nightwish's songs that has Marko's voice, it just don't go with a female voice (even floor's voice). His voice is just too unique, and unfortunately Jukka Kaskinen doesn't sing =( I really miss Marko, but I understand his reasons for leaving... And as always, I still love Nightwish, just miss Marko's duets with Floor

Yes, Marco Hietala (bass & vocals) left Nightwish in 2021 after the 2020 album 'Human Nature'... and will not be on the next Nightwish album... He recently reconciled w/ former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen and has a tour w/ her... Now, Marco has a history prior to Nightwish... he was the singer of his band Tarot and he joined Nightwish around 2002 after replacing the original bassist Sami Vanska... Tuomas (keyboards) wanted a male singer in Nightwish and was a fan of Tarot... Marco also recently released a solo album 'Pyre of the Black Heart' in 2020... Apparently, he had been unhappy w/ the demands and dividends that Nightwish were giving him for some time and opted to leave in 2021 and carry on w/ his own solo endeavors. Nightwish returned to tour (after the pandemic restrictions were lifted) w/ bassist Jukka Koskinen (of Wintersun) and he joined the band permanently.

I think there are 17 songs in this show. Usually, one of their concerts is 1 1/2 to 2 hours long, and they do not stop, though no encores, like a theatrical production, they have outro music and a big group bow at the end.

Yes. It's okay to miss Marko because he is fantastic. But he had to take care of his own health. Nightwish is still putting on incredible concerts all the way through 2023 until Floor had to stop to have her second baby, Lucy. Troy has been filling in very well on backup vocals and Floor has also been doing some of Marko's parts on certain songs. They are super fun to see live. It is exciting to know that they are in the midst of producing a new album and I can hardly wait to hear their new music. Thank you, Ladies.

Have to say, I get caught up in watching the facial reactions of y'all listening - Lulu almost looks sad at times but I can really tell when she enjoys it because she'll break out that smile. If I ever get a time machine, I'm going to Wacken 2013. You have to realize that the fans were expecting Anette Olzon to be the vocalist when they bought their tickets. Check out her version of this song, and try to imagine expecting that ... and getting this. It's a big part of why the crowd was going nuts, right from the opening number ("Dark Chest of Wonders", which is well worth a reaction as well.)

When i first heard Nightwish back in 1994/95, i was like wth is this? Since im more into brutal metal. And many many moons later now with Floor Jansen it suddenly bloomed up like a beautifull flower and since like 2 years back in time i like Nightwish more and more. Back then the singer Was Tarja. Then they had a swedish singer whom i dont remember the name of.

A lot of the crowd surfers are headed to the toilets. You can see them being pulled off the crowd by security folks. With 82,000 people there, that's the only way to get to the toilet. You certainly aren't going to walk through the crowd.

Tuomas is at the keyboards, he writes the music, and night wish is his baby. Again every song on this gig is great as are all songs! Floor had been with the band 10 months here. Hard to believe isn't it? Floor is a hair over six feet, with heels, 6'1. Marco left in January 22, maybe 21, can't remember now.

4:50 You reacted to a song they did as the last one: The Greatest Show on Earth. After that song, when they stay on stage to thank the crowd and take a bow, you can see they're all pretty much out of breath. So yeah you're right, they put a lot of effort in their performances. And yes it's true Marko left, he had some health issues to sort out. I think it was more mental than physical. But he got over it, is back to performing, but not with Nightwish anymore. His replacement is an excellent bass player, but not a singer. The band also announced there will be no tour after the next album. They're gonna take a break. Wouldn't surprise me if that break turns out to be permanent. After all they've been going for almost 30 years now, and they already survived more line up changes than Tuomas said they'd ever do... (After Floor joined, he said it would be the last change. They'd quit when someone else had to be replaced. But they still replaced the drummer Jukka and the bassist Marko.)

So, this song in particular has the current vocalist's version, which is exceptional, but also the first vocalist's version, both are very good, really, but the performance deserves to be analyzed in both cases, I'm sure you'll like it and see that even though it's just one song, each one has its own peculiarity. I even suggest you also watch The Phantom of the Opera, it's perfect

UTA just dropped their first single, Green& Glass, from their upcoming album Phantoma. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m32zfnV6bM5jf7csi=eJ8Et9T1iuAKLMb7 Brittney has written another fantasy story for the album that explores AI. They used AI to create the video but in an ethical way, making sure all the intellectual property owners were compensated. Brittney has said on one song she used ChatGPT (ironic to use AI on an album about AI) to see what lyrics it would generate. It turned out to be more of poem then lyrics and the timing of the words didn't fit teh vocal melodies she had already written but she did use a few snippets of phrases that she liked in Ghosts of the Mist.
