This is not a comment on the device performance, but on the company's practices. I bought the device and was sent an itemized receipt by email when I ordered it, so expected to be charged, and pay, that amount. To my surprise, I was charged the equivalent of VAT when it was delivered, which was another 12%, plus an advancement fee from FedEx. When I emailed the company that I was not informed by them of this fee and asked that they pay it, they refused even though they admitted that they had 'recently' updated their website to inform consumers that they might need to pay more taxes. My view is that since they did not have this information on their website when I bought the device, they should pay it. They refuse to do so. I will be making a complaint to the BBB and will be selling the device without having used it, as I'm that disgusted by their stance. Buyer beware.

A reviee of the company’s website gave me the heebeejeebies. Shipping is very high, and the cost of return (if you need to) is crazy. I did not get the feeling that they care about anything more than $$$.

Great review. Thanks a lot for doing it. I was looking at the Touchpoint straps but they have some really sketchy reviews. I have only found positive things written about the Apollo and I think your review just helped me make my decision. I was looking for a device for my pretty bad anxiety at work after having had a panic attack for the first time not too long-ago and since then everything that was easy before is now a struggle. I was interested in bilateral stimulation as I've found foot tapping helps which is why I was drawn to the Touchpoint system but apparently it's quite noisey and just not up to the job, but the Apollo has intrigued me with its decent reviews. Thanks again for the great review!
@katie_moore

so happy to hear that!! yeah the TouchPoints device might work for some, but in my experience, it just wasn't the right fit. And it was much louder than the Apollo. I really like the flexibility of the Apollo, too. Being able to wear it on your ankle and still get the same results has proven to be really helpful for me, especially when working at my computer all day. Happy this could help inform your decision -- and if you do get the device, please keep me posted on your results! would love to hear how it works for you :)

4:40 hmmm this looks familiar 😀 Thanks for the review and data results, although personally I find the Oura latency metric to be wildly inaccurate - it thinks I fall asleep within 1-4 minutes every night simply because I lay still when I go to bed, even on nights where it takes forever (20+ mins) to fall asleep.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!! Thanks for the test, this is my first time hearing about it. The test is objective and sounds interesting. I also use the MUSE S for sleep tracking and do not go into deep sleep. I also get stressed out quickly during the day and am looking for a tool that can also be used during work. Have you heard of Kosys NEOOS before? With these devices, affirmations and tones are transmitted to the skin via ultrasound. These are then perceived by the brain without hearing through the ears. It is also used for language learning. Unfortunately, the devices are also very expensive and I am not sure whether they will work.

@ahcapella
@ahcapella 2 жыл бұрын
This is what it says on their website. "The Apollo system was designed with EMF concerns in mind. The device has an Airplane Mode that you can select to disable the wearable's internal antenna. When Airplane Mode is off and the app is actively in use, the Apollo wearable emits very low levels of EMF from the Bluetooth connection between the device and app. Once you select an Apollo program and close the app, Bluetooth communication stops until you open the app again. The Apollo wearable waves are sound waves (like music that you can feel and not hear). They are safe for kids, adults, and the elderly."

Hi Nadia! This is a great question and I've gotta be honest with you. I haven't been able to wear it as much in the last few weeks because my old one stopped charging and they're currently sending me a replacement. But I can say that when I did have the device working, I was using it constantly. I personally found that the light vibrations (which mimic EFT or "tapping") from the Apollo are extremely powerful in lowering my stress over a longer duration, especially while working. I absolutely love meditation and definitely get good use out of my Muse for meditations. But I sometimes find that the Muse is difficult to connect and I have to set aside time to do a full meditation during the day, whereas the Apollo is great because I can just throw it on and go. And the Apollo also has some cool sleep features for lowering HRV at night...right now I can't sleep with my Muse 2, but I do know they just came out with a Muse S (sleep) so I'll be sure to do a review on that when I get my hands on one. My friend Shervin just did a deep dive on it, if you want to check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWjQhpanrqd_a5I. Also the Apollo customer support is great so I'm sure if the device didn't work for you, you could get a full refund. I hope this helps and please let me know what you decide!!! :)

I’ve been using the Apollo for about two weeks now and I’m liking it a lot. I really feel like it’s helpful in many ways. I just stumbled across your review today. I wanted to ask you if you felt better results wearing it on your ankle or wrist. I’ve been wearing it on my ankle because a lot of users say it’s better there, but I would prefer my wrist. It does feel an awful lot like a house arrest anklet. I’ve gotten weird looks while walking my dog, lol. My HRV is down 17 points, I’m at 26 for the week. Is that good?
@katie_moore
@katie_moore 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Maggie! I prefer the ankle because I find the wrist to be distracting. Especially while typing on the computer. I don't really mind the house arrest look, but I'm weird like that. I've always got some strange new biohack attached to me lol. So on the HRV subject the general guidance is higher is better... so you don't want your HRV to drop... 26 is on the low end. I would definitely pay attention to that, maybe bring it up with your doctor or look into means of improving HRV. Diet, lifestyle, stress, sleep, age, etc... a lot can impact HRV.

Hello!! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a great comment! So unfortunately my Apollo broke and I'm having a replacement shipped to me (hopefully this week) so I've been out of commission with the device for a couple of weeks now, which has been a huge bummer. I will say, that for the first 2-3 weeks of using this device, I felt my meditation practice getting stronger, but this was purely anecdotal as I did not quantify this with any HRV or heart rate data. HOWEVER, I did just get the Muse S for meditation and when my Apollo arrives, I plan to do a 1-week meditation experiment with the EEG headband to see how my stats differ when I use the Apollo v. don't use the Apollo for meditation. I hope this helps!

Only good thing about the Philips is the easy return policy, so not a bad first purchase since there's a 30-day return policy! Really solid review! Im' curious about the ankle bracelet. I noticed in many of the shots it was on top of the leggings, does it still work like that or does it have to be against bare skin? One thing I didn't quite follow was if this still got int he way similar to the touchpoint or if this was otherwise completely invisible in your daily life?

great question! you definitely still feel the vibrations even over clothing. and in terms of getting in the way of everyday work, i used the device on my ankle for typing/writing and used it on my wrist for meditation/sleeping/social. what's nice about the Apollo compared to touchpoints is that you have the flexibility to wear it on either your ankle or wrist, which allows you to type or write and be productive!

hands down the apollo. i know the touchpoints are cheaper, but i think you get what you pay for with that device. the TPs were very loud (to the point of being distracting) and you were extremely limited in your options to control the pulsations. i've read a LOT of reviews on them and have seen consistent failure of the device across the board. i would not recommend buying to be completely honest.

Hello!! Thank you so much for watching the video and leaving this brilliant question! Sadly, my Apollo has been out of commission for a couple of weeks and is in the process of being replaced, so all I can speak to is the first 2-3 weeks of using this device consistently...and the improvement to my HRV score from my initial use. BUT, I should be getting a new Apollo shipped this week and I'm curious to see what my HRV stats look like compared to the first time I used it. I'll keep you posted and might do a follow-up video if my findings drastically differ!

Hi there.. great review. I have the product but didnt see a huge difference but after seeing the video I may give it a go again. I actually used it after having used NUCalm for about 4-6 months religiously and I will tell you i have never experienced anything like it. I come from a medical and highly scientific background and the whole biosignalling disk thing came across really out there.. but the system works incredibly so much so I invested in it for my clinical practice. I wonder if you have a review or video on NuCalm and what your personal experience with it may be. Thanks,

Hey Katie, could you please provide an updated review on the Apollo device? Does it actually work with all the programs for the moods they offer? I know you said the energy and wake up programs didn't really affect you but all the other programs work for you?
@katie_moore
@katie_moore 4 жыл бұрын
Of course! I'm still using the Apollo almost every day for sleep and meditation, and about bi-weekly for the social setting. I feel like the energy and wake up programs are very subtle and don't hit me quite like a cup of coffee, but I think it depends a lot on your body. For instance, my mother in law felt very energized by this setting because she's more sensitive to this type of stimulation. But right now, I love it for the more meditative and calming settings because energy is not really my problem!

@@katie_moore so assuming one is anxious and is having palpitations about it, turning this bad boy on to the meditation mode would reduce heart rate and blood pressure? Does it actually stimulate the vagus nerve to increase HRV and has your HRV scores been steadily going up with the use of this? Does it lower your resting heart rate even during wakeful consciousness? Finally, has it improved your sleep quality? You know, like does it increase your deep sleep and REM? Does it reduce your sleep duration for the same quality of sleep, does it have you waking up feeling more refreshed?

Great review and I was also wondering how these compared to Touchpoints and am glad you covered it. As a way to reduce anxiety, do you feel this would be worth purchasing? I was reading that the Garmin Vivosmart 4 has stress monitoring and breathing exercises to help relax if it senses stress. I know they are different concepts and price range but would appreciate your thoughts.
@katie_moore
@katie_moore 4 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Thank you so much for the feedback and so glad I was able to shed some light on the Touchpoints devices. So I looked into the Garmin Vivosmart 4 device and here are my initial thoughts (apologies in advance for the long comment, I'm very thorough!!) 1. They've got a killer HRV tracker, powered by Firstbeat (an amazing company using some of the highest caliber heart rate tracking out there -- coincidentally, I have a video talking about this company next week!). So I love that. This will give you a run down of your HRV levels over the course of the day so you can monitor your changes over time. 2. The "body resources" functionality looks really good, especially since this can help you stay on top of recovery time. The Whoop band has a similar functionality and it's enabled me to give my body more "recovery" breaks rather than stressing it out with a strenuous task like a difficult workout. So that's cool. 3. Great price point (under $100) and available at Best Buy so you could always return it if it's not working! What the Garmin is NOT going to give you is: - Physical pulsations that work like EFT (tapping) to help reduce heart rate in the moment. This is something the Apollo or Touchpoints do. - Stress coaching or meditations (at least I couldn't find this on their app -- but I also think you don't need a device to help you meditate unless you're super curious about your brain wave activity, at which point I would say invest in the Muse2). - It really looks like a slick watch designed PRIMARILY for athletes. Check out this review here: www.wired.com/review/review-garmin-vivosmart-4/ All in all, I would say you've really got to figure out your biggest goals with a fitness tracker and see if you can test it out (i.e. Best Buy) before you make a big investment. Based on everything I've tried so far in the last year, here are my top picks right now in the tracker world: SLEEP - Oura Ring FITNESS - Whoop WATCH/ACTIVITY - Apple Watch MEDITATION - Muse 2 ANXIETY/FOCUS - Apollo Neuro (it is $$ -- maybe ask about return policy??) I hope this helps!
