I'm disappointed, but not surprised. His excellent State of the Union speech was prepared by a speechwriter and read from a teleprompter. He seldom takes questions, and usually has a list of reporters' questions and an answer card. He prepared for this debate for a WEEK at Camp David. There were no surprise topics, and Trump was Trump. I blame the DNC for not holding him to his promise to be a one-term transition President.

The one thing I agree with (too late now) is that Joe Biden should have never agreed to debate Trump. They are a farce and with Trump's pathological lying, VERY VERY difficult for even the sharpest debater to put him down with sarcasm and wit. This was just a way the Trump campaign could get more footage and selectively slice and dice it to make the votes doubt Biden's mental capacity. They are having a field day. Now if your favorite and only news sources happen to be FOX Newsmax and other far right sources then can I respectfully suggest several very good courses covering media bias, how to spot it and disinformation in todays media ecosystems? If Liberal and left wing sources are posting verifiably incorrect info then call them out too. However far too often people are content with what they are fed that aligns with their confirmation bias and are either too lazy to search for reliable sources or have simple lost the critical thinking skills to assess when bias exists and abdicate that role to biased media. Presidential Debates lost their significance when the internet took off. I’m 71. When all we had were newspapers and television to hear our news, debates help launch candidates and gave America a chance to hear what the candidates goals were. Now we don’t need to continue this platform because we hear from these candidates every day. I don’t care for all the jokes flying about President Joe Biden’s age. Yes he has been failing for 3 years to communicate. Did he once say “Record Stock Market”? Did he mention the record unemployment and compare it directly to Trump? He just mentioned “Herbert Hoover”. Did he point out that Trump said he was going to do infrastructure and didnt, but Biden did? Saying “Chips Act and Pact act” doesn’t communicate those wins. Did he point out that if his DOJ was going after political enemies, they never would have dropped the case Bill Barr opened against Matt Gaetz. What about the auto workers and how they endorsed him and how Trump didnt even go to a union shop. How about pointing out “Well if you didn’t have sex with a pornstar why did you pay her $130k”. He could have listed all his accomplishments on the last question and ended with what he was going to do next term and finish the job. Trump ran all over him.

I don't know but the thought of the Democratic delegates and super delegates choosing a candidate to replace Biden doesn't seem like a bad idea. I do not buy the argument this guy makes that Biden's debate performance doesn't relate to his skills as a president. He needs to be able to think on his feet and deliver messages forcefully. What we saw last night was not lack of preparation, it was not just an "off night," and it was not just a poor debate performance ala Obama's poor debate against Romney. Biden's debate performance frankly scared me. Russia was watching, China is watching and they are loving every minute of this. I have a gazillion critiques of Trump, but he was usual, lying Trump. And Biden's debate performance isn't allowing us to keep the lying at the forefront like it should be. Biden's family needs to step in and convince him that the country needs him to step aside for the sake of us all. Stepping aside is the last patriotic and selfless thing Biden could do for his country-- a country he says he loves so much.

In the beginning, you mentioned Pete Buttigieg. Remember, he spent a lot of time in Iowa, and Iowa decided he was their best bet.
