Silver, and others who were pro-Shapiro, completely miss the strength of Walz over Shapiro--and also miss why Harris picked him. Yes, Shapiro may have guaranteed PA but is problematic in MI & WI. Forget MN, not an issue, but Walz shoul easily bring in WI & MI and is a close send in PA. I think that Harris is gaming it well. Again, what Silver and other talking heads miss is that a Harris / Shapiro ticket would be composed of coastal elites, which plays poorly across the Midwest. Walz is the solution to that problem--indeed he is "average guy" that Dems have been searching for for decades.
@jcgrant12342 ай бұрын
Walz helps in the South--Georgia and North Carolina as well as Nevada and Arizona--lots of midwestern connections. Shapiro will organize Pennsylvania for Harris. His presidential year is 2032 not 2028. I think it is possible that Walz will not run satisfied with being VP. He will be 68 in 2032.
@ahill17382 ай бұрын
@janoswimpffen7305 Yes , I thought the same thing when Nate spoke. Harris is gaming out her potential well in the Midwest with the help of Governor Walz. He not only has executive experience as a governor but is really likable and a straight talker. Trustworthy.

Hey Nate, before you compare Woody Allen to Michael Jackson, you need to do a little research. I'm impressed by your cavalier comparison and not in a good way. I'd like to believe that you do some research.

Funny how you liberals are criticizing Trump’s picks, meanwhile all you have is these substandard clowns trying to be a president. 🤡

Why does the Electoral College exist? Simple. In 1785, when the Group of Six (Hamilton & friends) launched a coup by compiling a Constitution for a Body Corporate, our original 13 siblings had had a falling out. The issue - slavery. The Carolinas, Georgia & Virginia had a somewhat understandable & as it turned out - totally justified - fear that the remaining 9 siblings would elect a President of the Body Corporate running on a "no to slavery" platform. Well, it certainly didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen. The College was the compromise reached when Spain (ground floor tennants) & France (1st floor tennants) called the cops - because they really thought the Mericans were going to kill each other. Hell - the Canadians (in the attic flat) stomped on the floor, the fighting got so bad. THAT never happened in Australia or Spain or Germany or Canada. What do these countries have in common with the US? They're also ALL federated parliamentary democracies. Every single one. Where the federal govt runs the federal election and not the states or provinces - these run their own election and that of the local authorities in their state/province. In most places, local government only exists at the behest of the state/province. Electoral reform. You need it. Badly.

Nate Silver likes Trump too much to be a very interesting commentator. If I want to hear very measured, grudging enthusiasm for Harris's chances in November I'll head over the The Bulwark. Or pull up James Carville. LOL

This guy is a secret admirer of Trump. Harris and Walz have exposed Trump's character so ruthlessly that stunned Trump so badly that he doesn't know how to counter the subtle attacks.

The thing with Tim Walz is he can appeal to more than just Pennsylvania and he has zero baggage compared to Shapiro. I was so surprised, but completely over joyed to hear she picked Walz!!!💙💙💙💙💙💙

And what does Nate Silver think of Trump pretending he’s at a union meeting paying people to wear American worker hats and it’s all a fraud? Or paying somebody to look like she’s a Trump supporter that works in a restaurant and she’s on his campaign? I can’t believe how he gets away with this. Thumbs down to Nate. Thumbs down to you too, Katie.

Why the feud with Allen Lichtman Nate? Is it because Lichtman has got a big ego about his 13 keys?

So yeah, I could spend 52 minutes watching this statistical reading of the tea leaves, but I can do a tarot card reading regarding the outcome of the election in about 15 minutes, and frankly that seems a better use of my time. By the way, Nate, I’ve never gotten around to congratulating you on that great job you did of calling the election for Hillary in 2016. Keep up the good work.
