Thank you for sharing Bobby's story. More people need to know about the dangers of fluoroquinolone antibiotics! They are overprescribed every single day and hundreds of thousands of people are being floxed every day. I have struggled for over 10 years due to taking Levofloxacin for a suspected "sinus infection" - after a few days, I couldn't walk. I had a lot of the same issues Bobby did. Neuropathy, tendon/joint pain, digestive issues, (to name a few). It has altered my whole life. We need to keep spreading awareness to the dangers of these antibiotics so people do not continue to be permanently damaged. I'm so sorry for your loss, Mary. HIs memory will live on forever.

My heart breaks for Mary. It is CBS anomaly. This class of drugs is demonic. FLUOROQUINOLONES like Cipro, his cough syrup, laughing gas, etc are NOT tolerated by those with common CBS (sulphur regulating) genetic mutation/anomaly. Snapping tendons are especially common in older victims. I didn't have that happen to me but ended up in a hospital after 3 pills for a UTI in '09 and was floxed (basically 'poisoned') for 6 weeks. It is a VERY dangerous class of drugs. When I was diagnosed with advanced Lyme and co-infections I was grateful for that knowledge - my Dr was determined to treat me w/that when Doxy failed. I refused and they went another route with 🙏🏻 Zithro which I use to this day. It's a very common genetic anomaly with other issues which is why there are so many who were harmed by these drugs. A simple test can confirm it. Refuse this antibiotic unless you are sure. Just look up Cipro/drug class side-effects. It's terrifying! I still suffer with neuropathy years later.

Bayer got me with Cipro back in 2009. I took just twelve pills over the course of six days (exactly as prescribed) and have been 100% crippled and on SSDI ever since. I'd just turned 30 years old when I had my life completely ripped away from me in ways I never even knew possible. I'm so severely disabled at this point that I can't even leave my house to seek medical or dental care anymore. The last time I saw the outside world was before Covid kicked off. The next time I leave this house it'll be in a body bag. Thank you, Mary, for helping get the word out about this wicked class of antibiotics that have absolutely NO BUSINESS being given out for simple infections. We are being legally murdered by Big Pharma and the inept, corrupt FDA. Unfortunately most people don't know or acknowledge this until it happens to them--and by then it's too late.

Me too. Same year. It stole everything from me.
@jacyates5702Ай бұрын
I'm so sorry this happened to you. You are absolutely on point by saying Big Pharma is legally killing people and ruining lives with flouroquinolines. I'm one of the lucky ones, and I'm so very grateful to have escaped permanent harm. I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin for a UTI in 2007 (before the "black box warning" was added to the label and patient instructions. I took the first pill and went about my day. I was at home and just planned to do a little laundry and cleaning. About 15 minutes after taking that pill I suddenly became severely nauseated, dizzy, began sweating profusely and felt weak. I sat down for just a moment and realized I needed to vomit. I quickly staggered to the kitchen sink (the closest receptacle my mind leapt to) and vomited into the side of the sink with the garbage disposal. I had a death grip on the sink's counter-edge while I violently relieved my body of everything consumed -- it felt like for the past 3 days! It seemed I reached deeper than bile level when the shaking, cramping and spasms finally calmed. I weakly slid to the floor in a sweaty, shuddering heap as the involuntary tears streamed down my face. After a few minutes, I managed to slowly get back to my feet, wash my face with cold water, rinse my mouth and clean up the sink. I collapsed into a chair and called my doctor's office, demanding a different antibiotic -- Amoxicillin or Doxycycline, since I had successfully used them in the past. She seemed surprised that I had had such a reaction and claimed it "could be from something else you ate.". I told her, "No, that's not possible because I hadn't eaten anything since being in your office and the reaction was unbelievably sudden after taking that pill." I'll always be grateful that my body recognized that toxic crap for the poison it is. Since that day I've had flouroquinolines entered into my records as an allergy and I've tried to share the dangers of flouroquinolines. I believe they should only be used as a last resort to fight infections that are unresponsive to other antibiotics with less severe side effects.
@EbonyPopeАй бұрын
Antibiotics are a good thing. I mean even if they had prescribed it to you for the correct infection it still would have caused the reaction. That is unfortunate but not the responsibility of Bayer. There have been many instances where big pharma was doing somthing awful but with certain mediactions there is always a risk you can't remove. A medicine that has no side-effects has no effects at all. I feel for you but sometimes these things happen. I too had some severe side-effects from medication. But allergies are something your own body is responsible for. Not the medication except your doctor knew before and gave it to you still you can't blame anyone. Life sometimes is strange. I am bedridden after Covid since I had a myocarditis half a year before (unrelated to Covid) and therefore couldn't get the vaccine. Then got the infection and since can't stand for more than a few minutes. I wished my life was different. But sometimes these horrible things happen.
@EbonyPopeАй бұрын
@@HappyHermitt I feel you. But allergies sometimes don't show immediately. Happend to me once too. Only after the second time Amoxicillin I noticed rashes. Thankfully not something more severe but I thankfully stopped in time. Unfortunately that is nothing you can blame on the manufacturer. It's your own body going haywire.

I am deeply saddened by this news. I can't believe I missed this. It is tragic! I was very lucky to have met Bobby twice. The first time in a club after his show in Cleveland, OH. This was during his Soul Survivor tour. I had just started listening to him and traveled 5 hours to this show in a small club on the flats. After the amazing show, Bobby went to the bar and sat there to talk to fans. I admitted I was a new fan and he said it was a thrill to meet me. A "thrill" to meet me. Not nice, not good, but a thrill! Fast forward a couple of months later and I was lucky enough to see him in Philidephia, PA. We were walking up to the stage, after the show, and security started ushering us away saying Bobby wasmt seeing anyone that night. We started to leave and I saw Bobby in the wings of the stage. I yelled, "BOBBY!" He turned and looked, got a huge smile on his face, snapped his fingers and yelled out, "CLEVELAND!" He then motioned for use to come back stage to the green room. We sat and talked and ate Philly subs for an hour before he had to leave. What a down to Earth man, performer, and I consider a friend. He will be missed.

I heard the song, What you won’t do for Love in the fall of 1978. Wore out the groves so they say and somehow I knew the song would have a special meaning to me in my life. Don’t ask me how or why but I knew it always haunted me. I played it 1.000’s of times…….i just knew. The decades past and I ended up living in Vegas, not by design but by fate, I never planned it. Almost 40 years had elapsed since I first heard my favorite song….why? I was walking in my casino where I ended up Sunset Station and on a billboard was Bobby Caldwell who was going to perform for one night in a venue called The Club Madrid inside that casino. At the same time my love of my life was not with me …..but I went to the show…..you were there with your daughters….and Bobby sang What you won’t do for love….. decided to play out the song….some people go around the world for love………..you tried everything but you won’t give up…….i went home got a plane ticket …went back to the East Coast….,showed up unexpected and we got back together where we belonged…..my 1978 premonition manifested itself…..True Love like Bobby put into a song will never die…..we are together forever…it’s a true story….i play the song every night his picture is in a frame with the two of us and that heart shaped single,,,,it’s all true….i will meet up with him one day in heaven..,,his still in my prayers…….

I too was harmed by the antibiotics Levaquin and Cipro and just thought that I would add my story to warn people of just how horrific the damage from these drugs can be. I had multiple tendon ruptures, cartilage lesions that required a transplant from a dead child, blood clots, broken blood vessels, bloated failing veins that had to be carved from 13 entry points, an umbilical hernia, torn lumbar muscles, half a dozen bulging discs, loss of bladder control, explosive diarrhea, shakes and twitches of all sorts, visual disturbances, tinnitus, auditory problems, crumbling teeth, hair loss, nails fell off, disgusting rashes, photo-sensitivity, joint pain, neuropathy, heart palpitations, liver and kidney lesions, collapsed lung and a hundred or more other physical ailments that all set in at once or in rapid succession and which still plague me more than 15 years later. Compared to the Hellish mental anguish I endured, though, all that physical suffering was a walk in the park, or a crawl actually....crawling around wetting myself. I could not think of anything but suicide for several years. I still think about it every hour of every day but not every minute of every hour, so it has improved. I will never be able to run a restaurant again so this is what I do...I warn people and counsel people who have been harmed. I'm so sorry for your loss. I thank you for sharing your story. I was given Cipro for a suspected sinus infection in 2010. I've suffered horrific joint pain since then. Some of the damage has gotten better, but there's so much that will probably remain forever. Neuropathy, insomnia, digestive issues, lack of energy, brain fog, to name a few. All my teeth crumbled and broke off due to these antibiotics. The toughest thing I've came up against is the ignorance and arrogance of doctors. I've never found one that believes me and some practically laugh right in my face when I suggest that Cipro caused this type of damage. Thank you spreading the information. I have said so many times, "if telling my story saves one person from this living hell, I've done something good in my life." I know this is a little scattered, my brain doesn't function as well as it used to, yeah...that's due to the Cipro too.

Thank you for sharing the truth about the dangers of fluoroquinolone antibiotics! I was told the only risk was rupture of the Achilles tendon, and only in athletes. It destroyed my health and when I tried to warn people, the lucky ones piled on to tell me I was wrong. They had taken Cipro and they were fine.

1978: I discovered Bobby Caldwell and his style of singing. I will always love "What you wont do for love" and I regret I never went to his concerts but always loved listening to him on the radio. RIP Bobby.

Thank-you for sharing this painful story. I was floxed eight years ago, and I cry for everyone else who suffers the same way, and for their loved ones. The same day my band played our first show, I took this antibiotic. I continued to try to play shows for a few years afterwards too, with extreme effort and great limitations. Just before our first tour, I was ordered to get completely off of my feet; my achilles were like Bobby’s, and were set to snap any time, and I had spontaneous ligaments rupturing. We were forced to cancel. I thought what I had worked for my whole life was just beginning, but it was already the beginning of the end.

I was floxxed last year. I took the antibiotics for a stomach issue. They were given to me when I left the ER. Nobody mentioned the black box warning. Not the doctor and not the pharmacist. I had a hard time walking and doing my physical on my feet job for several months. To this day, if I get super tired, this can flare up and cramp my Achilles tendons. I also had to deal with skeptical doctors who said it can't be that bad and oh floxxing should only last a couple of weeks. They have no idea and they hand it out like candy...

So sorry this happened to you. I was floxed 10 years ago and still struggle, but I will never give up hope that healing is possible. I hope you are feeling better now.

@@kellydarkson9277 It happened to me last July. I credit the fact that I was already eating right and doing what I could to be healthy before this happened for my recovery. It just made me super mad that no one mentioned the black box warning before I started taking the drug. There is no way I would that taken it if I had known.

@@TheCinder24 The doctor and pharmacists who didn't mention the warnings should be in prison for assault with a neurotoxic, deadly, chemical weapon. No hyperbole. That's EXACTLY what it is.

Your an amazing lady, what you did for Bobby. I enjoyed his music so much. A doctor prescribed me this med, I didn't get it. I lost hearing in left ear from a surgery, to long to go into. I was hoping to get my ear flushed, but its nerve damage. So I thank you for sharing this. May God be with you and Bobby RIP

Wow, oh I am so sorry for your loss and the world's loss of this truly delightful entertainer. My best friend took me to see Bobby around 2013 at the City of Escondido's, Center for the Arts in CA. We stood up and danced in the expensive upper box seats on my Birthday 2/12 to be exact...and almost got in trouble. . ..we had had some good tequila that night. "What you won't do, do for love~ you've tried everything but you won't give up. ..in my world only youoo - make me do for love what I wouldn't do" 🕊️ Peace and Love to you❤

As a floxie, I appreciate attention being brought to the devastation these antibiotics can cause. So many doctors are in denial and still overprescribing Fluoroquinolones. I can no longer walk independently, have pain 24/7, extensive nerve damage, bone damage, torn ligaments throughout my body, extreme issues with my gut…the list goes on. I’m just one of many.
