yes, you do have that certain calming effect on me as well....even if you are a bit nervous...it comes maybe from overthinking it...I enjoy your words and work ...you reminded me how I knit and crochet all day long, and how I always have the excuse not to paint,as if I had not the same day long periods for it as well...knitting is a piece of cake...no challenge as with painting...glad I have found your podcast :) Hugs from Croatia

Thank you so much - so interesting to hear you have the same experience with knitting and crochet. I think it's important to have a space for both kinds of creativity as they are nourishing in different ways, but I am glad not to be forgetting to draw just because it is more challenging.

I'm loving your style of podcasting and the videos of where you live. Regarding being afraid to draw, I attended a college orientation with my daughter and there was a speaker in the beginning of the day. He asked people to raise their hands if they could sing. A few people raised their hands. Then he asked those who could draw to raise their hands. Again some of the audience did. His last question was for the ones who could dance to raise their hands. Another smattering of hands went up, including my daughters for the first time. I never raised my hand. He then said that when these questions were asked to young children, that all of them said yes to all of the questions. At what point in my life did I no longer believe that I could sing, draw or dance? I think the point I was sticking on was that yes, I can do these things, but not well in my mind. I was also sad that my daughter didn't think she could sing or draw. But it's our mind getting in our way, judging our performance. If he had asked if I could knit I would have raised my hand, no matter what I thought of my knitting (I think I'm pretty good) or if he'd asked about crochet, which I'm just learning, but I still would have said yes. I don't feel judged by these things. Long comment but I think it's interesting how much pressure we put on ourselves! I think your dress came out amazing! And I'm going to check out that Craftsy class since I've treated myself to the unlimited version.
