I have a feeling that the people that get angry that the shrimp tails are not eaten, are not people that are actually into eating shrimp tails themselves, but are just people that want to trip other people up. Next thing they will get angry about is why she didn't eat the aluminum foil that was wrapped around the potato.

Yea agree. Crustaceans carry their skeleton on the outside, so its mostly just calcium and some minerals. It can be eaten of course, but it's a bit like choosing to eat the bone in a sparerib. Fair play not to do it in my mind.

Congrats on successfully tackling this challenge. Really puts in perspective how crazy it was for Molly Schuyler to finish 3 72oz steak challenges in 20mins from The Big Texan. 3 x 72oz steaks, 3 potatoes, 3 salads and 9 jumbo shrimp. Did it for some competition.
@GreenoEats8 сағат бұрын
So I had a baked potato for dinner tonight, and some salad. Filled me nicely. Not sure I could have had the 72oz of steak, jumbo shrimp and bread rolls to go with it - that was great work Katina!! Shrimp tails is a nono for me, but sucking the juice out of the heads of shrimp, a hard yes!!!

Great video Katina! Growing up in PEI, potatoes are amazingly delicious, especially when cooked properly. Shrimp, as I suspect that people are insinuating, has meat in the tail section, and if eaten properly, you should be able to ‘pull’ the meat out without eating the shell. Thanks for sharing!!!

Dangerous to bet against Katina. Not only is she talented, but you risk activating her competitive streak. No food challenge is safe from a woman with ambition! Love variety in a challenge! It may have only taken Brandon 14min, but if Randy struggled with it then you know it isn’t easy. Especially if the steaks are on the chewy side. And if the potatoes are surprisingly large. And if you have to eat the shrimp tails. Even I hesitate at those 😅. Great job avenging 2020 Randy, and congratulations on the win!! 🎉

I can't say that it's a culture thing, because I've heard lots of different opinions about eating the shrimp tails. Some say they are so crunchy that you can just chomp right through them - no problem. Some people, and cultures might be accustomed to eating them. I say it's your personal preference. And personally I don't find anything redeeming in a shrimp tail that warrants the eating of one. BTW - Great Win!

Let's see. I could do about half of one of those steaks, probably a third of that baked potato and the entire salad. Yes, I know I skipped whatever the fried platter is and the bread. I just can't eat much at all but it has never shown up on my waistline. Ah genetics. Probably why I love watching you, Katina. Oh, and the chewiness of the steak was probably because it was sirloin. I tend to do marinated cubes including a pinch of baking soda, and a quick stirfry, leaving the center pretty rare for that. I recommend Vietnamese shaking beef!

I quite enjoy the shrimp tail so long as it is done correctly. When they are perfectly fried they have the texture of a really fragile and almost airy chip/crisp. That being said, not many restaurants I go to do it like that so I do not blame you for not eating the tail, besides, most people in the US don't eat them. Fun fact; Some people eat the head fried up like a chip/crisp as well!
