I really noticed how much I was fighting the KYB suspension on the Sherco after riding the new WP suspension on the 2024 Husky TE300 Pro. I had the forks re-valved for the second time on the 300SEF and wow what a difference! I was about ready to sell the four stroke but now I love riding it again. Suspension work done by Suspensionwerx.

Hear a lot of good reviews for Suspension Werx. Too bad it's become so difficult to bring suspension across the border for work. Premium suspension is number one for me. More confidence to push harder and safer to do so.

Speaking of bad suspension/bad bikes.That time up at Table Mtn on the 2012 350 SXF with its rock hard forks and its propensity to stall more often than there are stars in the galaxy.

Excellent riding Greg! Of course your 2T stuff is the best, I thought you rode super crazy good the time you were on the KTM 350 with an auto clutch.

I bought a TM 300 FI thinking it should handle like a dream because it came with the latest KYB. Yeah no.... It took 4 tries with 3 different companies to get it to where I could ride it on single track without totally beating me up. It's there now but buying the 24 TE300 Pro just goes to show how much different companies set their bikes up. The Pro out of the box was as perfect as one can get.... And it's stock!!!!

KYB changed the mid valve on the forks about 7 years ago...or there abouts. They changed what they call the “post” which is the part on top of the mid valve rod inside the fork (it’s the part that holds the piston and shims. That change is often called the “leaf spring” mid valve. It was done to reduce the parts required to assemble the fork. No longer is there a small spring and mid valve float shims ( adjustable) . It reduced mfg costs to produce the fork. Problem is that leaf spring post does not allow as much oil to flow past it to deal with sharp edged roots, rocks etc as the older mid valve post design. It’s harsh on sharp roots, rocks etc. Try as you may to valve it… The design is not great for off road imo. There is a solution.. but you have to replace the post with an older style one. And go back to a valve stack that has more room to move and allow oil to pass on a sharp hit. SmartPerformance has a solution you can buy if you are a DYI kinda person. But… the stock stuff you will still struggle to get a great setup till you change that latest gen post to something that allows more movement of the mid valve shims - allows more oil to pass on sharp stuff found off road. I think JBI (Ride JBI) has a different post he sells as well. Sadly - they don’t talk about his much - but mid valve are not designed for off road. They were designed for Super X. If you are riding off road… they simply are not very good due to one of the issues I pointed to.

Moving the bars is HUGE on the Sherco 4T. I didn't realize it either until I got my Sherco 2T, and realized how far back the bars felt on the 4T.

I’m still using my DJI Osmo Action 4 that I got last summer. Pros, battery life and reliability. Cons, on super wide it’s a little too much “fish eye” or pointy at the center of the shot, sometimes the stabilization is a little “floaty” looking. Overall I’m happy with it, but I wouldn’t be opposed to changing back to GoPro when the 13 or whatever comes out.

Yeah the widest view has too much fisheye effect and the regular wide is not wide enough. That and the audio quality made me switch back.

I just happened to do a couple rides in a row on the 4T. Rode the Husky last weekend and likely tomorrow as well.

I never rode a Sherco but it sounds & looks like it has a strong,great running engine! Although I prefer WP suspension over KYB or Showa.

Hey Guys...got my used 2019 300 sef factory in winter. First summer ride using 93 octane gas tank would not stop boiling. Also leg on exhaust side was really hot. Wearing klim vented pants. Got new vent hose but did not solve. Whats up with this? Love this bike but this is an issue i cannot find anybody else having. Any insight would be great...Thanks Also love the channel.

I had the same issue, it's the check valve attached to the hose on top of the fuel cap, they can be faulty and not allow the fuel to vent. Increased pressure lowers the boiling point of the fuel. If you loosen the fuel cap you will hear the pressure release. Remove the valve and just run the hose, the downside is if you tip the bike over, it will leak fuel. Keep in mind the aftermarket stubby hoses with check valve are also often faulty. As far as the heat, that's a drawback of riding a 4 stroke.

@@PNWEnduro Thanks for reply..using stubby hose that does vent but gas is still boiling so you are suggesting straight hose without valve..have bag like yours and was hitting hose..went to stubby with 2 way vent. Still boils. Could 93 octane with ethanol cause issue..should i try non ethanol and would heat shield on gas tank above pipe help also. Been on 250 xcw 2 stroke last12 years no leg burn there.

It’s very likely the valve on the stubby is faulty, they often are. Try just the hose and I bet you won’t have the issue again. I run 94 with ethanol as we can’t get ethanol free in Canada anymore.

Lens has too much fisheye effect and audio is not very good. Disappointing.

KYB suspension is always way too stiff for single track. After 4 WR 450’s in the last seven years I’ve realized that it’s just about impossible to set up the suspension using the stock clickers. I actually removed one spring from one fork and added a schrader valve to the fork cap and then ran six psi of air in the springless fork. This worked very well for single track.

For my 2020 WR250F, I had to go down a spring rate in the front forks and up two in the rear shock. I also went from the 5W KYB oil to 4W Motorex. Then I got Michelin Mooses. All this made the bike way more comfortable, yet remained stable.

I hear the same story form Sherco & Beta owners that think they're getting the same internals on the KYB that Yamaha has......they don't !! I Had the same problem with the Beta KYB, they beat me up so bad, even after spending $$$ trying to get them sorted, I cut my losses, sold the bike, and went back to WP. IMHO KYB are overrated...unless buy a Yamaha.
