Best, all-around and versatile female singer on the planet and the best I've EVER heard in my 62 years!! Super underrated and STILL largely ignored by the music industry in the West. I totally agree with you Marc. Katrina started her singing career and was known as "Suklay Diva" because she used to sing using hair comb as her microphone in front of the mirror and joined amateur singing contests in different parts of the country. Humble as she is, Katrina surpassed all trials and honed her singing prowess really well and reaping successes here in the Philippines. You may also want to react on her cover of "Joy to the World" or her collaborations with "Budakhel". Thank you Marc and I hope to hear your reactions to these covers. More power.

Great reaction as per usual by you Marc, to what I'm beginning to call a legend from the Philippines. In a country full of the biggest and best voices, to me she's along with Morissette have to be right at the very top. Like you said. Only a select few have the ability to hit whatever note they feel like, and for how long too. It's not just the note, but the resonance, and the tone. Don't get me started on the tone. After watching her earlier videos first. I recall watching her "One take cover sessions" performance of "I wanna know what love is" and thinking to myself. Did not know she could hit that low note. Katrina is a Multi-Awarded Pilipina Artist and dubbed as "Asia's Vocal Supreme". Regarding the Artists on the Wishbus singing while sitting, Coaches like you and even ordinary viewers reacted to the Norms of Standing while Singing. Pilipinos about 98% have no professional Vocal Training, they just rely on their God given Raw Talents and started singing at a very young age and kept on practicing and entering in all kinds of Singing Competitions (which is very common in the whole Philippines) until becoming celebrity status. They don't care whether they're standing or sitting while singing as long as they can give good performances. If they can have perfect Pitch while sitting how much more if they're standing. Besides, Pilipino are really used to singing while sitting because of Karaoke (we call it Videoke) wherein almost every home has and in every nook and cranny of the Country. BTW, the only Patent Holder of Karaoke in 1975 was a Pilipino named Roberto Del Rosario. Oh, before I forget, AUTOTUNE (Pitch Correction) is TABOO in the Philippines, it's a Mortal Sin to do so 'coz its Cheating, otherwise it would be a career suicide. A little Echo and Reverb will suffice to enhance. Tnx Marc for appreciating Pilipino Artists even if they're not well trained.

Marc, I love your reaction & appreciation of our upcoming young singers. Here's a little story. In the Philippines, we have lots of fiestas and there is always a singing competition night and many participants. They get honed by competing against the best of the best from different towns. Whenever there is a National level competition with higher stakes, the best of the best meet, and, it is really tough to judge a winner. Back then, the real legend & ICON which were idolized by Morissette, Katrina, and many more singers was QUEEN REGINE VELASQUEZ. Everybody wanted to be a Regine. In competitions, you get an edge if you can sing and clear the difficult notes of Regine. You need to listen and react to Regine to understand better our singing culture.
