These sandwiches are produced and sold by the restaurant called Mansei, located in Akihabara Tokyo. The vending machine is installed just across the road from the restaurant (actually it’s a 10 story building, every floor has different types of restaurant all under Mansei). You can of course buy the sandwiches at the restaurant but the vending machine serves 24/7. My favorite is actually the fried hamburger sandwich rather than the Katsu sandwiches. You can also find these sandwiches at the stations like Tokyo, Shinagawa and also at Haneda airport.

I wish vending machines like this existed in the USA
@ackman39814 жыл бұрын
If they did, chances are they would be broken or vandalized within the first week. Why do people think that doing that is acceptable behavior? Even the old machines in Japan look great compared the ones in the US. For some reason scratching your initials or something on a machine is good for what reason? They might be there in Japan somewhere. But all the vending machine stories and videos I have seen, their machines looks great no matter where they are compared to the ones in the US.
@jdm40874 жыл бұрын
Agreed. These types of vending machines wouldn't last long in the U.S. since it'll get severely damaged with stolen products. Especially the other video on this channel with the self serve vending machines in a room. The room would be ransacked quick. Of course it comes down to location, but even then, it's not really a good business idea.

It's almost three years later, and DB has revisited this Mansei vending machine. It looks almost exactly the same. Same machines, same table, same water fountain, same trash and recycling bins. Even the same lanterns. Only the sandwich photos on the left are re-arranged, and they added a TV. In local currency, the prices are a little higher, as should be expected. The regular katsu sandwich is ¥50 higher, the double cutlet sandwich is now ¥70 higher, the ice cream novelties are generally ¥20 higher. Though with exchange rate it's actually much cheaper today for foreign tourists. Hopefully someday soon I'll be able to visit Japan and experience some of this for myself.
