In my opinion, the last great television serial in the stellar career of the late John Thaw. An impressive legacy left behind in the form of a fictional character brought to life with such ferocity of feeling and humility, of unbridled passion, intelligence, and energy that I believed in the honesty and truth of each performance. Many actors play fictional lawyers on stage and screen, but few masters of the art have managed to make one feel so real and vibrant. I salute this musical score which captures the raw beauty of this show perfectly, and I salute John Thaw, a master of his craft taken from us far too soon.

Eloquently put, Sir. Totally agree. The man was a giant of his craft.

One of the most beautiful and evocative themes ever made for TV.

This music is so lovely. Why have I never heard of Anne Dudley? I recently discovered this show on AzPrime and have fallen in love with the lush and melancholy theme. I will definitely be looking up her other works!

Music that carries emotional heft & a great tribute to the human drama, namely the main character Kavanagh. Great work by Anne Dudley, & a music that represented the show far better than the change in musical score from season 2 by another composer. The show lost its flair, just like if honey started tasting like grease.

I much preferred this theme to John Keane’s, I don’t know why they changed it. Miss John Thaw on tv, my mum and I are currently watching Morse episodes on DVD. Apparently there is a scene where Kavanagh is trying to comfort Eleanor Harker ( played by Geraldine James, whom is often cast as tarty women and not sure why ) whom has been dumped by a boyfriend, and Geraldine is really crying in the scene and when the director called cut, he said “ hang on a moment, let her recover first from doing that because that’s difficult to do “ . It’s a shame that we always lose the best ones, and leave trash behind.
