I bought this model a few months back and it really is a great piano. I think it is worth the asking price when you consider what yo are getting. Each of the rendered pianos can be tailored to your exact spec across many parameters, but the default settings are perfect for me. It can be used as a high quality bluetooth speaker system with over 100 watts of amplification. It also has bluetooth midi and standard midi. The 100+ built in voices are great quality and it comes with hundreds of piano pieces built in. The list goes on. I compared it with similarly priced Yamaha and Roland pianos and this felt and sounded better in my opinion. The android based touch screen is a little laggy but I use the app on my ipad which is excellent.

Is this CA 99 suitable to study and pass the diploma-recital exam of advanced classical music? Because many reviews say that it has a quite LIGHT TOUCH, to be suitable for passing the diploma exam. Because a light touch can affect the performance playing on the harder pianos of the exam

@@verymozart I'm replying because I have the CA99. It is an incredible digital piano. While the touch is light, it still very much feels like a grand piano. Thanks for the review. I just have to note that on the time period 0:49 you show the Grand Feel II action (not III). Though on 0:53 it's correct. I see you have a sample of the Grand Feel III action in the background, standing on the CA79 piano, which interests me more. I hope that the screen can be completely turned off (along with the backlight) during practice, recording videos of self performance, etc.
@craigjohnston74075 жыл бұрын
Hi Oleg, well spotted. We don't yet have a model action for the GFIII, so put the GFII shot in to indicate the style of action with the hammer above the key as they are quite similar. The action model in the background is the Grand Feel compact that is in the CA48 and CA58.
@rzproductions4 жыл бұрын
The LCD screen can be set to auto off at 30 seconds to five minute. I looked at that manual Kawai website.
@Oleg__4 жыл бұрын
@@rzproductions Sure, I know that. The problem is backlight is still ON in that mode. Users of past generations of these instruments (CA78/98, NV10, NV5) complained about it. But in this new series, the problem is still present. Although, Kawai promised to finally fix this problem in future firmware update. But it will work only on these new CA79/99 models. That is, in fact, the display is still glows, users just see a dark gray background, which can even interfere if there is dark lighting around. Also, this effect is very noticeable if one shoot a video, there will be a glowing gray background, because in fact the screen is not turned off, the backlight is still working.

I recently got a Kawai ES110, which I am very satisfied with. I think CA99 may be the next purchase if I later upgrade. The question is: when it's now possible to get a very good acoustic-sounding digital piano for the price of a cheap acoustic piano, what would not be possible to achieve with a digital piano for the price of a grand piano? The time should now be here when digital pianos completely could replace acoustic grand pianos. No need of tuning and with amplifier and speakers it will be possible to get higher volume than an acoustic piano. So shouldn't a digital grand already have replaced the acoustic one on classical concerts?
@markfowlermusic4 жыл бұрын
No digital piano comes close to a good grand, maybe closer would be a top hybrid like kawai nv10 hooked up to a top vst like garritan cfx... But still no where near a good grand that costs £10,000 plus, there's a world of difference, but its more noticeable to trained ears i suppose.

I played the CA99 and it sounds better than an acoustic piano. Why? Better base notes. The base notes on the acoustic piano are just weak for me personally. It's just new technology. And you can tweak the sound a lot of ways. Not mentioning the fact that literally every single acoustic piano is out of tune because most people don't have the time, skills or money to tune it and it weighs 200kgs so once you put it down that's it. This one weighs less than 100kgs so you can move it around a bit if you need to.

I have not tried the CA99. Kawai does have a brilliant action, BUT I would still encourage anyone who is interested in a SERIOUS instrument and for whom the touch is THE most important factor to give the CASIO Celviano GP Series at try. The Casio action is not only a "grand feel" action - it IS a grand action with actual hammers and same keys as you would get buying a BECHSTEIN Grand piano. Its fantastic and the price point makes it unbeatable. Do consider Kawai, but their flagship Shigeru grand where the samples come from is very "sharp" in its tones. One brand I do recommend that you skip entirely when you are looking at digital pianos is Yamaha. The touch is just not what it should be!
@markfowlermusic5 жыл бұрын
False information, kawai action just as good as casio, both use long wooden key sticks, the casio is NOT a grand action, it's an imitation of the real thing like all the other brands and models until you get to the real hybrids like the yamaha avantgrand and kawai novus models, not they're not cheap, and it's the reason the casios are not as expensive because they are not using real acoustic actions like the true hybrids I mentioned.
@PeaceNinja0075 жыл бұрын
Casios are lame. They sound artificial and their sustain is too short. The Shigeru Kawai isn't "sharp", in my opinion. It's known for its warm, clear, and balanced sound.

@@markfowlermusic There is nothing false about my information and I recent that! You many not have read my comment correctly because I am not dumping on a Kawai in any shape or form, in fact I do like the Kawai. So much so in fact I was days away from getting a Kawai when I discovered the Casio. Both have wooden keys of full length, BUT the hammer action is very different in the two. The only thing that compares to the hammer action of the Casio is (as you write) the Yamaha Avant grand but they cost 3-4 times as much and honestly I cannot really feel any significant difference in the touch and I find the Avant action ridiculously loud. I am sure the sound system is better on the Yamahas, but... Casio is totally fine on sound. The Casio wins by offering an amazing playing experience. I invested in the GP300 but if you want to go even higher get the new GP510 where Casio has tweeted the midrange sound to give even more power.

@@cookingconfessions you said the casio is a real grand action, I am correcting you as its nothing like a grand action, doesn't use real grand piano action components, just claims to be a hybrid which it isn't. @@markfowlermusic Yes that is what I said and I stand by it - here is why: What is the most important thing for a pianist? 100% of people will say that it is the touch and feel. The Casio has the touch and feel of a Grand Piano. These are Bechstein Piano keys - Exactly the same materials, the same weight and the same pivot. They control a hammer action so the feel of a Grand truly is there. I honestly question if you have ever played one - have you? The Yamaha Avant grand are a totally different breed of hybrid piano and they are over the top and out of most regular peoples price range or willingness to spend. When I was researching the market to buy a digital piano I tried everything and Casio blew me away from the first time I played it and it was after I had gone though all the top Clavinova models, Kawai CAs and Roland LX models. Avant Grand - Yes sure, but its totally depended on your willingness to spend insane amount of money on a digital instrument. Also size wise the CASIO excel in it compactness for a smaller house or apartment.

You have to learn to breathe while you speak. It gives the feeling that you choke every time you speak a paragraph
