My brother had this keyboard when we were kids. We all shared it. That's how many years I've been finger drumming.

Kawai in all it's wonderful weirdness, I wish there was some software to help program this thing and act as a librarian. The 'chorus' and 'top note' and to a lesser extent the 'vibrato' functions can really bring to life what otherwise can be a little lack lustre sounds, but pass that through some old multi effects units and it can be very interesting indeed.

Picked up one of these for next to nothing at a thrift. Bought it for a cheap and handy midi controller, but it looks way more interesting than I originally thought.

Indeed it is. Not as versatile as a proper synth, but some of those sounds are pretty cool.

Awesome - thanks for the demo! Love these oddball consumer synths!

i have that too but it too old and some key its destroy

Yes that tends to happen overtime. I guess this board is a bit too basic to spend money on repairing it…

Another great review . The synth section seems more a random tone generator than anything else . Sounds are good at times . Rhythms are ok . I saw one of these a couple years ago in a thrift store wanted to by it but it was in bad shape with a couple broken keys . It would have been a good project but not for the $30 they were asking !

Sounds great! What was your impression about the key build vs Yamaha/Casio - solidity and playability?
@gearfacts3 жыл бұрын
Yamaha is a bit more solid but they're both perfectly acceptable these days.

The best mini keyboard to get the great Kawai strings, choir and organ sounds. All other sounds are crap, but that's not better in the more pro Kawai synths.

I think they sound great and sounds very distinctly Kawai MS 710. Perfect for old video game compositions. I believe it uses the same "engine" as the Kawai K1

Same as the K1? Wow cool

Yeah that's coz it's uploaded and searchable but not 'published' yet. I'm always a few videos ahead in case I get a cold or something :)

@@gearfacts ok :) whats interesting in this keyboard that it has samples, but most of the presets sound rather like a yamaha fm keyboard - especially with editing. But these features + pitch bend, vibrato and stereo chorus, also dual make it much more interesting many keyboards from Casio or Yamaha

@@gearfacts I mean can one using MIDI CC to get to the synth parameters on the keyboard?
@gearfacts3 жыл бұрын
@@squishmusic Oh hmmmm, you'd have to check the manual for that. I'm pretty sure there was a midi map at the end of the manual but I've long sold the key board so I can't really check sorry! I'm sure there'd be a PDF of the manual online

@@gearfacts yeah no worries. The one i was hunting down sold now. I continue my hunt for the PH50 - check that out: K1 in a toy-aesthetic :P
