Could I use resin instead

Maybe if you cured it in the sun and not a UV lamp. The last time I tried to put stickers like this in resin the plastic melted cause it gets so hot.

I made pins with stickers using two part resin (epoxy) and it worked perfectly. You can put a couple of layers to give it a better finish :)
