Not gonna lie, I kinda expected for Steven to burn down Little Homeworld because when you've been through so much, the tendency to hurt people increases a lot. I envisioned it that everyone would have to actually fight for a change because Steven wouldn't listen, and then when he's pinned down the talking begins Oh well, the SUF writers could've pulled this off only if CN gave them more episodes :P

The start actually makes a lot of sense Steven starts to corrupt he swells up at once and the house explodes he shrinks back down and he tells everyone to run and he traps himself in roses room and rips out his gem so he can’t corrupt but his gem half is pissed that he tries to kill himself so he tells him it’s time to stand up or it’s time to back down and re-fuses with him but now his powers are back and he knows ripping his gem out won’t work so he corrupts

Well shit, that would've made for a much better ending overall. I mean, yeah, hug and cry it out, that's fine, but this show did begin with a solid dedication to cool fights, and I'm sad that we lost that commitment. We could've, say, had multiple episodes of Steven inside his corrupted form, battling his own neuroses as his form fought the Gems. Get some cool fights in while his family pleads their feelings out to him, rather than charge-hugging. At least, it would've been more interesting and drawn out than the final rush we got. It also massively disappointed me that a lot of aspects of the wider universe weren't answered, while we focused on Steven's issues. More aspects of Gem tech and society, what made the Diamonds, maybe a bit more on how humanity interacted with the Gems over the millennia. Maybe explore how earlier Gem society was so seemingly magical rather than the pure tech of Era 2, 'cuz that was a whole tonal shift way back in the earlier seasons that no one talks about anymore. There was a lot of potential that didn't get explored, while we spent multiple episodes on Steven's PTSD. And fair enough, that isn't something that's dealt with overnight, but with only so much time left, you'd think they'd have tightened that plot up a bit to finalize more parts of the wider universe. I know the show's general tone had become much more focused on that personal aspect, but still, it felt like a lot of the show's initial promise, its interesting worldbuilding and aspects of the Gems, just went untouched on once we got past the Diamond arc.

I think a lot of that was the limited episodes they got for Future. I did like the ending, but I got to agree. They talked about in an interview about how they had to cut episodes because they only were allowed so many. It’s really sad

@@jeanlikesart376 Well that's certainly a valid problem, and a lot of shows have suffered that-- god, what they did to Legend of Korra still makes me sick. Still, there are good and bad ways to manage your time, and some of the episodes we got really weren't that necessary or could have been trimmed down. I did like the Steven Tag episode, but if you can fit a more plot relevant segment into things in place of that, I wouldn't mind losing it. The general point I'm getting at is that the big finale really should have had more build up, and they should've managed their time better. This isn't unique to Steven Universe, mind you-- Star vs. the Forces of Evil was a hot mess in its final season for a variety of reasons, and time management was definitely one of them. It sucks that they only had that season left, but they left in so much filler that could've been trimmed to make room for more plot stuff or suitable character development, rather than plot lines ending for no reason and ships sinking without suitable build up. In both cases, both shows really didn't manage their time well, leaving a lot of questions unanswered, though Steven Universe did a far better job of it.

@@nicksuazo4377 That's not really a justification, particularly when Steven Universe clearly had a broad appeal aimed at teenagers as well as adults. It dealt with some extremely intense topics and wasn't particularly apologetic about it. In turn, just because it's a kid's show doesn't mean it should get a pass for its failures. Kids have every right to expect satisfying resolutions to plotlines and character arcs, just as adults do. The 'it's a kid's show' defense has never been valid to me. I grew up watching quality anime that was aimed at kids but didn't pull its punches. Hell, I watched a LOT of people die in various Gundam series while learning about a variety of themes and topics, and I'd go so far as to say I grew as a person due to the experience. Kid's shows have just as much validity and potential as adult shows, and to give a show a pass for failing to resolve itself properly is to give an excuse to a bad effort.

I think the ending was very valid It wasn't about action Not this time It was about mental health Yes, it was rushed, Rebecca said so herself But It was right Steven got what he really needed, not what he wanted It brought awareness, as the show has for a while That people may pretend to be okay, but they aren't And when Steven snapped, he wanted to be seen as the monster he felt like he was He wanted the gems to fight him He felt so lost, cold and distant He began to lose his grip on everything, and felt like his life was spiraling out of control And his episode opened everyone's eyes They gave him what he needed Comfort To hug him, tell him everything was okay And that he wasn't a monster To get him a therapist Not everything has to be about action This show wasn't even founded on action, but it's story telling And the story Steven universe future was telling was of the concequenses of raising a child in a poor environment Of all of the trauma he went through and what it did to him mentally the more he was left alone to actually think about it He has literally had near death experiences multiple times

But after watching the finale, even I knew that it went much to fast, and straight to the point. And as someone who grew up on SU. I just hope it doesn't happen too often. Because all good seires deserve to have a well developed and satisfying ending. @@jammindragon1812 This is important. SUF was made not only for Steven’s arc, but to tie up loose ends. They aren’t exactly filler. If you think about it, every episode is something that hasn’t been brought back in the series or future. Bluebird? What happened to eyeball and aquamarine. The fusions? What happened to the fusions and getting to know them better. Rose buds? What happened to the rose quartzes now. While I do agree that some of these episodes could have been removed and out towards the corruption, having the whole series based on Steven wouldn’t really be a series. The crewniverse had to end the show early, and the epilogue was the perfect idea for things that they didn’t have time to finish.

Honestly I love browsing out of context animatics because they inspire me to make up a story to go with them. I don't know the context of the original song but the story I'm imagining is that Pink!Steven is tired of Steven pushing him aside, fearing him, hating him for being Pink and his mother. He loves Steven, but he doesn't understand him. So he's angry with Steven turning his back on that part of him, using him as a scapegoat for all the horrible urges Steven has. AND possibly angry with Steven not listening to a lot of Gems who don't like the new Era 3, like Holly Blue, who has no place in his system. Because Steven always acts like compassion and love will solve everything when it doesn't. So he finally snaps to burn it all down and *make* him listen, or else take his place to rule Era 3 for the new underclass of old era gems. 'The time for talking things out is over, we tried that. Now we do it my way and you won't have a choice in the matter, I'll take your body for my own purposes, you've had your turn.'

I find MANY things wrong with that ending: First, and most obviously, THAT ISN'T WHAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT; the ENTIRE show is about how the best way to solve a problem is by empathy and kindness; to completely throw away that message and FIGHT is basically treason. Second, it's not in character; the Crystal Gems would find EVERY way NOT to fight Steven, same with everyone else. Third, REALISTICALLY, *FIGHTING* STEVEN WOULD MAKE THE PROBLEM *WORSE*; THE REASON STEVEN BECAME A MONSTER IN THE FIRST PLACE IS BECAUSE HE *FELT* LIKE ONE! IF EVERYONE JUST STARTED *TREATING* HIM LIKE ONE, IT WOULD CONFIRM *EVERYTHING* HE THOUGHT ABOUT HIMSELF, AND *NO ONE* WANTS THAT. If Rebecca went with THAT kind of ending, there would be a LOT more PISSED fans than happy fans, and it would be COMPLETELY justified; and at LEAST we got some healthy mental health representation, what will that ending do? the only thing it'll provide is fanservice, and that's just scraping at the bottom of the barrel. In conclusion, if SU ended in FIGHTING, it would probably garner the same outrage as the SVTFOE finale. And also, you probably didn't recognize the mental health parallels, and therefore I conclude that you aren't all that smart, cuz the parallels were REALLY obvious,

I always imagined that someday Steven would end up finally fighting himself, one way or another, because if there's a bigger enemy for him than White or Pink, that one is himself, and I really wanted to see Steven and Pink Steven kicking the crap out of each other while accusing each other of the worst things imaginable, so everyone could see how completely fucked up Steven's vision of himself actually is. It would also be a pretty good way of making Steven's gem actually lash out without his consent, completely tired of seeing the human half just suffer and suffer and suffer and wanting to get revenge on everyone who's ever hurt them and the human half was too kind to actually hold a grudge over, and for that it would have to actually fight the human half. That would've been awesome.

It would've been better this way. It all started as a war against Pink diamond disguised as Rose Quartz, and all should've ended in a war against all the pain Steven was hidding inside himself, to show him that he's not alone and that he doesn't has to be his mother.
