Very funny upload. I'm on my third Gpz500S. Mine will easily shift along above 7000 rpm. It's 50-60 bhp. It's a good all-rounder and dead comfortable, especially the deep foam on the seat, by modern standards it's excellent, no smear of padding like those wafer thin modern bikes, center stand a bonus. Fuel tap with a reserve only. No fuel gauge or light which is a bummer but you can set the trip meter to zero and work out a distance between fill up's. It's not a modern designed engine but proven to last, vibrates a bit below 7k but smooths out above this. It'll do quick if needed, a constant 80-90 is perfectly possible, 45-55mph on back roads without a problem. I had an ER500 with the similar engine and that achieved 74,000 miles, and I still sold it for £600. Seat height is very low so you can easily control it in town. Adjustable levers and a decent brakes. Will do 65-70 mpg if your not thrashing it everywhere. Constant hammering and it's 50 mpg. Can't go wrong for under £1500.

Just drop a gear on those overtakes, and take it well over 8k RPM, and it's lots of fun.

I've just bought one of these, 1993 model, 21000 on the clock. For a 500 twin they go quite well.

you ride it like its a powerful bike like the power is there but you got to work it , i just got a gpz 500 coming off a hayabusa its a bit of a pain but once you get use to changing down gears every 2 seconds its still fun to ride the more you ride the more you get a feel for it ,i am yet to meet another bike on the road just to see how it measures up but i sure it will be quite poor but after all it is what it is only 500cc 60 bhp

what's your problem with overtaking? your bike has some problem, or you are not gearing properly

The bike hadn't been used for a while so it needed a good blast as the carbs weren't clear enough to really give it that usual kick.
